I searched and searched and your video is exactly the answer I was hoping for! Long story short I had our wood burning stove removed and now I've gotta put down flooring....well needless to say our original wood floors look just like these so I wanted to make a easy matching/new floor look! Wish me luck! 😅
I've been refinishing hardwood floors for 20 years. I'll admit it looks better, but the product you are using is intended to he put on bare wood and top coated with some kind of poly finish. It's a nice cheap quick fix but theres a good chance it wont stick and peel off, and if it does stick to the old finish it will scuff and scratch easily.
Usually best to stay in the same family, that way you know it will adhere properly. I would use dura-seal which is made by minwax. Probably have to order it or get from a local hardwood supply retailer.
I was elated to see no sanding required. My daughter has a huge house with alot of hardwood. This is exactly what we are going to do!!! Thanks for sharing.
Looks great!! Do you use a brush to apply it or a roller? You mention something about a swifter mop? Which one? I really need to do this to our wood floors, any tips are appreciated
It's probably wet, but this product is a penetrating oil, so it will build to a sheen when the top layer hardens on the surface (vs penetrating into the wood, when you fill all the porosity)
Did you follow the directions on the can? I’m just wondering if it needs to be put on then wiped off and so on or if you just put it on and let it dry?

Yes, but this house was being sold, so didn't have to do all that extra work like you do.

@@bindoorellan I would get the Minwax the same one in the video for the best shine.
@@erikernst7714 can you please link the product you are referring to for the poly finish. i could not find it upon searching...it would be helpful
I love this because my place in Brooklyn Ny has old old floors and I got to thinking ….
I’m gonna do it.
Thanks I’ll be doing mine this week 👍🏼
You're welcome.

You're welcome 👍
My floors are teririble and old. Would this fix can I send you a picture of them ?
Very informative my Aunt wants to stain her floors. So I don't have to sand anything just apply and let dry?
Yes, no sanding, just apply your good to go
This was very informative. I’m going to try this. How long did it take for it to dry?
Let it dry for 24hrs, start early and it will be ready by the next day for sure
redbaron2448 thanks!
Can I do this without sanding and make the wood dark like expresso dark
I'm using the same, gunstock is hott. Did you polyurethane after?
No. Just like in video and that's it
Looks great!! Do you use a brush to apply it or a roller? You mention something about a swifter mop? Which one? I really need to do this to our wood floors, any tips are appreciated
Thanks, All I did was pour a little of the can on the floor and take the Swifter and mop it in
I mopped the floor clean before I use the stain with Swifter, hope this helps
Awesome man. Did you have to wax on top of it (stain)? If not. How is it holding?
No wax was needed it's already mixed in with High gloss
Hi. The Minwax Stain, it's oil or water base? Thanks.
Oil base
Looks Great!! What size were your cans ? 🤔
Thanks, size 1qt , per room , Home Depot
Does this have a gloss in it? I just used mine and it doesn't loom as shiny

@@whitephoenixfire88 I just used a minwax highgloss over top. A few coats. Its turned out great with no sanding
Whats the name of this?
Minwax
Thanks for responding.
@@rswope35 Your welcome. Hope it helps you out and good luck with your floors
What product you used?
Minwax, watch beginning it shows the can
We didn’t see you dio it...
Did you follow the directions on the can? I’m just wondering if it needs to be put on then wiped off and so on or if you just put it on and let it dry?
I just put it on and let dry. Just put some in a corner and take a Swifter Mop and just like mopping, but go with the grain, Easy peasy
redbaron2448 thank you so much for the video and reply.
@@heatherpage8512 your welcome
quick question, did you seal these after you stained them and how did that come out?
No I didn't seal it after I stained it as it has built-in sealer and it came out great and still looks great today
@@redbaron2448 what did you use to apply it.. That paint brush?
@@frankenfaq4706 No. I used a Swifter Mop with a special pad. Poor and mop on
@@redbaron2448 what was the pad ? Im gonna be doing my floors in a rental but im not trying to rent a sander and do all that bull crap
@@frankenfaq4706 I don't remember it but I was like a sheepskin nice and smooth like $15 at Home Depot
That looks horrific
🤣🤣🤣
Think everyone will be happier with the results if you take the time and sand the floors first. This looks awful and cheap.
