- Here is a working mockup of an effective wireless remote controller for an HO slot car track. This example uses Tomy track which is also compatible with Auto World track. With proper thought, any HO track could be adapted.
These segments were made over a short time span a few years ago and just now edited into one video. So there is some overlap on discussions.
Not to pick on anyone but Tomy or Auto World would do good to investigate this idea. The hobby needs something really cool and effective to increase enjoyment of the product - AT ALL AGES. I dare say the holographic pit stop that Tomy did a few years back was just a money pit. Manufactures, PLEASE do something for the hobby that is not just a clever toy.

Slotcar tracks and cars are VERY versatile! I built a six lane setup a while back with 6 stationary bikes and dynamos and made it bike powered! There was a bit more to it than just that, but it worked out very nicely, and the client loved it. Basically what I'm saying is, if you get the wired ones, you can make it wireless like this gentleman did or you can literally control it from anything! For an off the wall example, one could hook their track to their Oven temp sensor and have a car on the track, as the temp goes up inside the oven, the car will start to go faster and faster! Not that, that would be practical but I'm just saying! Oh and not to mention, the bike powered one has circuitry that I developed to have the cars return to the start line automatically with the press of a button at the control station. Furthermore I added a lap counter and some tiny cameras all around the track disguised as street lights that displayed on a monitor. There was an LED display readout and a super imposed one on the monitors.
I have used this for a few years, on HO and 1/43 scale tracks, works great. Nice video
Wireless slot car controllers will improve slot car racing immensely! I raced R/C for many years, no wires is the way to go! I have thought about this many years ago. R/C wireless controllers for slot cars and video games!

I don't understand why any of the HO manufacturers have implemented this yet. We're in 2019 and still messing with wires. Also, a decent lap counting/timing system that would either hook to a PC via USB or WiFi or cell phone over Bluetooth.

Beside what those manufacturers said, what other benefits do wireless controllers have in your opinion? Because I don't think I need them at all even I have to pick up my cars. Cos I still want to go back to my original spot to race.
The wireless would let people sit where they like. One benefit for us older guys is that we don't like getting up and down off the floor. One can sit in a chair and race their cars. If the track is on a table, then a lot of this is mitigated. Also, set can have short controller wires. Wireless fixes that.

You are not bound by a cable and you could walk around the track as you race without getting tangled up with other drivers. You do your own marshalling.
Where can I find that particular race track set?
That Auto World set is not made anymore. You would have to locate one on the used market.
How long does a charge last? How long to get a full charge? And what kind of range with the wireless is there? Great idea and I have been using the power hack for over a year and its working fantastic.
Range is a large room. Never ran one down to zero.
