- This one is an absolute banger with one of the greats in the sport of Motocross and Supercross. Jeff Emig was one of the sports most enigmatic figures through the 90's and instead of retiring into the sunset post career, he started on a whole new journey in sports broadcasting. After 12 years calling the AMA Supercross he now has a new focus in the form of the World Supercross Championship with long time partner Ralph Sheheen.

To put Fro announcing into context; he grew up with a speach impediment and he is now announcing. Tons of respect for him.
Jeff Emig belongs on the Mount Rushmore of moto for sure. Not only as a rider, but as a true steward of the sport. The way he is able to articulate and verbalize his passions and feelings on moto is first class.
Impressive that words like articulate and verbalize are used to describe a guy who struggled so badly with stuttering. He overcame that issue like a boss!
"Steward" of the sport? Did you give him that responsibility? We have to stop using words out of context. The FIM is the steward of the sport, and they are killing the sport.
Jeff is a retired/talented racer,---who likes to talk a lot. :)
Its crazy to think that emig use to stutter like crazy when he talked during his riding career, amazing how he honed in and perfected speaking and became a broadcaster. Inspirational💪
Jeff emig is my childhood friends’ cousin. My buddies mom’s name was Hope Emig before she married. Found out after we had been friends for like 15 years. Crazy!
Dudes a legend for sure.. 🤙
Is ur friend Ryan Cooper?
@@brianwills4398 We don't know any legends of our lifetime. A legend is something (or someone), who is remembered for generations.
All your legends today,---have a long way to go.
Well, I feel like I know her personally now. I have said several times back in Jeff's racing days,---------------, "I Hope Emig can win this weekend" :)
@@EarthSurferUSA sorry teacher.
You've earned a great life Jeff and you're a good soul. The sport is lucky to have you stay involved. ✌😎
J.E is such a legend. 🤙 Always been a fan... Good dude..
There is that "Legend" word again. The man is not dead yet, and remembered for generations. That is a human legend.
But,---It was a real treat to see him "wake up" at Red Bud when he started winning championships. That was back when the track was much more clay and took more skill like the 2-stroke he was on.
Jeff be associated with World Supercross is a great move his announcing his knowledge of the sport brings so much to the sport
There's De Coster at the beginning as always with a Cigi on his RH Suzuki.
(And his Japanese mechanic) Go Roger! (Go World Supercross!)
Yes, the fitness thing was way different back then.
Excellent interview Jase with Emig. Thanks!
I don't know what gets us excited about a FIM world SX series,---since they failed about 4 times already in our history. This time, they may take down the entire sport. I wish they would fix their own MXGP starting gates. 15 guys on a 40 rider gate is a pretty pathetic resume to hire to run our racing. Or did they just take over, grabbing the last floating ship? Statistics is based on history, so there is a 93.46% chance the WSX series will fail before a 3rd year is complete. We never learn.
Great to see ya Jeff. You're missed.
Will we ever see a Supercross of Nations?
Lol noone rides this thing besides Americans
You can see Supercross of states xD
I believe that's called the Super Motocross Championship. 😁 (jk)
I am not sure how long we will have nations.
I remember seeing some old videos of like the old sx racea with wood single jumpa to flat on some of those 80s global racea. So nuts.
That must have been a pretty primitive nation. It was great moto in the 80's USA and Europe, with rapidly advancing bikes that a kid could afford. I know. I bought them.
Emig’s a Liverpool fan 💪😎
I would do anything to see a WSX race in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦 just imagine! KR94 🔥
Fro is so cool. Always has been
When we lost Jeff and Ralph as broadcasters imo we lost a lot ,I do like the Ricky ,JS7 combo
We didn't lose them, they're now doing WSX. We get both!
I was at Lake Havasu when Emig got busted for weed on the London Bridge lol
It bums me out they replaced emig with rc in the booth as emig was great. Sounds like he got the world supercross gig?
I would not let my kids hang out with the media today. They are a worse influence than a street drug pusher.
As a fan of outdoor motocross, I hate the idea of WSX. In order for WSX to succeed, American motocross has to die. There is a very finite group of truly top level riders. they're either going to go motocross, or WSX.
IMO, Roczen would be crazy to not do WSX. Travel the world, only do like 6 races, and probably got a nice bag.
Might as well take advantage of it in his later career before the series goes belly up, like every FIM world SX series, that nobody really cared about, has to date.
I bet you did not know that Jim Holly won a FIM world SX series in 1985, (and the last race was a real FIM dysfunctional joke in Vegas). It did not do Holly's career any good. Nobody really cared then, but raced for the money they could get anyway.
Still today there are a few guys that just can ride eating donuts and drinking Diet Coke and stay up all night and then show up and bet the crap out of everybody and pick up his bike and strap it down and gone with cash in hands that a PRO!
How are we going to lower the injury rate? There are ONLY 3 450 factory riders still racing right now! With another 10 races we could end up with zero factory riders.
We have to tell the EPA to go to hell, go back to the slower/less expensive 2-strokes, and deport the FIM.
Then, we can fix it. The best way to solve a problem, (injuries and price for this problem), is to identify the factors of the problem, and fix the biggest factors first.
Those are the biggest factors. But we don't know how to fix problems anymore,--so they will probably go the way of the 3-wheeler.
As soon as it hist the news, that MX has the largest injury rate of any sport in the world, it will be deemed as "non-essential" The reason why I can see that happening is because we have seen it before.
About 80%dirt bike are sold on California
Love to see someone hack a dart on the starting line these days, not like any of them smoke anyway but when it be cool asf.....Logan Karnow maybe, lol... Since hes such a pimp
SUPERCROSS NEEDS TO GO TO INDIA.
Hell yeah, need go home. 😮
Why is Emig talking with this goof? Talking with Ping is as low as we should go.
Emig is and always will be a losing proposition for the future
ddfd
Sorry but not sorry emig soccer sux!!
