Hi Jon and Jacob! Thanks for the video tour of this mine! My great-grandpa died in a coal-mining accident in 1899 near Ashland, Pennsylvania. His wife, my grandma's stepmother, went back to Wisconsin with most of her children. I believe one son stayed behind to work at the mine, probably to send money to his widowed mother. My late husband and I have taken the underground tours of the Quincy mine in northern Michigan and the Tower-Sudan mine in northeastern Minnesota but neither of them had animatronics.
What a fantastic experience....Kentucy Coal Museum a fantastic tour explaining coal mining....thank you Jon for a educational video showing your family's ancesters lives being coal miners. 10 thumbs up
John I have been a follower of yours and Jacob's channels since your humble beginnings. I really enjoyed this! It took me back to my elementary years. It reminds me of the films they would show us back then. Thank you once again. It was great!
My Grandpa was in the war & was a POW. When he did make it home he worked in the coal mines there in his home town in Pa.! I never met him but i couldn't be anymore proud to say he's my Grandpa & IS part of U.S. History X's 2!!
my dad worked the kentucky coal mines before i was born but died when i was 27...if he were alive today, he would be 108 in august...we still have his coal miners hat and lantern that he used...what a hard hard life he had
Fascinating! A lot of the older men in my family worked in those old coal mines. I still have their lanterns they wore on their heads. My Grandpa died of black lung, in this very house actually when I was 8. Thanks for another awesome video Jon! I love seeing stuff like this.
Hey Jon. Thank you for the amazing history tour of the coal mine. My Great Grandfather was a coal miner. Very interesting. That's why I love your channel, you keep Exploration Unknown new and fresh with your idea's. Keep them coming...... Thanks again, much love and be safe.
Pretty kewl. Not many people actually learn or want to learn and decern the difference how people lived and appreciated life with only the basic needs. Specially if they lived in a worst situation.
Oh my god Jon I absolutely freaking love this video. I'm a paranormal bigfoot junkie but first I'm a eastern ky coal miners daughter.. This was wonderful my friend. Thankyou for making it
Really great video Jon! My grandfather worked in the mines of west Virginia, then moved to Missouri & worked in the mines here. He was one of the black lung victims. He lived to his 70's. So glad you did this video!
I was so amazed with that animatronic, it was almost like a real person. I never seen an animatronic, that moved and spoke in such a realistic way. Wow! "The one leaning on the shovel"
Very neat attraction Jon thanks for sharing! I've always found coal mining interesting both for the railroading portion as well as my family background regarding mining. Hope you're doing well!
I need to rent a car and take my dad to see this place. He's always talking about the coal mines and railroads of (east) Ky., Va., W.V., N.C. and Tn. Thank You for sharing!
This was so cool John.. Its time though, to move into, and onto cleaner fuels that dont waist life...Thank you for the wonderful history of this single mine of many...
