I was in the Army in 2017 and went too Jordan for some missions with the Jordanian Army. Was absolutely amazing. We stayed in amman, but went too Petra and we actually got lost and the stair that lead you up we actually missed that and literally hiked our way up and around. Weirdly enough a little old woman who we all determined was at least 70 years old meet us at one ridge, and she helped us find our way up to the top where you guys meet that family but we was on the left side so opposite of where you was. It was crazy like 5 pretty fit army guys and was was having trouble climbing up these clips and this old lady beat is every time without a beat. I personally think she was a spiritual guid or something because once we mad it and gave her some money she disappeared. No lie one of the craziest stories ever.
I love this story - and I can imagine it comes up every time you meet up with your buddies! Isn’t funny how the people who live in mountainous and hilly regions like this literally outpace you every time - no matter how fit you are or how old they are?! It’s almost like this old lady said “my job is done” and walked off into the void…
Beautiful! I forget that the middle east has a milder climate in the winter. I always imagine places like Jordan to be brutally hot like it is right now in Denver! Good for you going to all these exotic places!
We were also surprised by this! Even Cairo is Egypt was on the chilly side when we were there. Northern Jordan had even better sweater weather. Our time in the middle east definitely busted a few myths for us.
i hope u enjoyed Jordan its so beautiful and super safe
We did! It was incredible - and, yes, super safe. Never had to worry about our safety :)
