Know a dude who found a GT350r prototype. Vin number matched and had a distinctive “r” at the end of the vin. Found it in a barn bought it for 5000. Put it on a flatbed and when he stopped at a light a guy offered him 35k. Put 200k in the car and Barrett Jackson appraised it for 750k. Amazing car.

The fact that it's one of those classic cars where you can find every part of helps as well. If something breaks you order it online and have it in a week. You don't need to go find that one specialist that can repair your broken parts. A problem thats usually common with most classic cars.

well that is a wide open question, first define RESTORE?......there are several levels, from just a daily driver that looks pretty good from a distance to 100% show car. Then it depends on the drive train. A 6 cylinder auto will be cheaper than a 390 4 spd.........if you do not care about originality, you can buy a Ford 289 long block for under $2K, a 390 will cost about $2500. Then another 2000 for a new starter, radiator, carb, ignition......if its an auto and you need the tranny rebuilt another 1500, then there are brakes, tires, so to get a dependable running car, BEFORE BODY and paint be prepared to spend $8 K minimum.
I bought a area craft boat with a 289 hi po and boss 302 manifold even heads and crank checked out ! Traded my dirt bike for it . I scored on the motor when I'm done with the boat I'm pulling the motor and throwing it in the 70 Bronco my pops gave me lol

283's were competition for the 289's and both made similar Hp,at 195 wth a 2 barrel and maybe 225 with a 4 barrel. it was the big blocks that made horsepower back then of 300 or more.

well after you've thrown in the new floor, plus the cost to have it installed, full engine recon, every bush replaced, new dash, new interior, fixed all the body rust, new suspension, new tires, recon the wheels, and if you kept everything original parts or good quality reproduction .. then you've probably blown another 75k .. and if you're lucky you might make another 5 - 10k on top. Also this one was flipped .. as they are not into production restorations, and from the shed they are in .. this is an episode which is about 6 to 7 years old .. could possibly why the cost was down so low

Rustang... Ford made a lot of small block V8s that made about 200 Horsepower. Chevy's and Mopars small blacks hovering around 300HP.
