why does reality tv bother us with THEIR schedule? I don't care if you're missing deadlines. I just want to see the build with the least amount of drama. Wheeler Dealer was very successful and without schedules and drama. Why this format?

I’m also really detailed oriented, it took quite a while for Richard to go the back and check on the Datsun. He was wearing a Panerai (watch) and switch to a Rolex during that time.

Attention to those little details is what sets good shops apart from great shops. I understand the mans attention to detail. I know shops that rather turn away work because they want it done the right way not cut corners and thats very respectable
A true perfectionist not only perfections things but time aswell , its more of a “dont tell me what to do scenario “ or i gave it my best but still not the best but why not help instead of looking?

I built a 78 datsun 280z and was able to get most of my parts from Motorsport Auto in Orange, CA for cheap. At the end of the day, I was into my car for 20k. I drove it almost 10 years before Schwarzenegger changed the smog laws on me and I was forced to sell it. The good news was that the guy I sold it to turned it into a race car.
Future me knows they kept the car green and it turned out really good!
80k over? wow. The only way it hit that is because of the high dollar people working on it with labor costs.

I can't believe that car met such a quick and complete death. In a later episode they sold it to a guy who put it on a transport truck to take home. The truck caught on fire and the car was burned down to a shell.

80k is for the parts, labor, vehicle, fees, etc. There are like 8 employees.. $16-24 an hour each person.. plus overtime = time and a half.. it's like a snowball effect
I am pretty sure even a 1990-1994 300ZX Turbo Stillen stage 5 or 350/370ZX project would not blow through this much money. And the end result would drive circles around what they are building.
Difference with a great build (BigMike) and a TV build by CrapMonkey garage...Only thing bothers me is price we as Import builders face, a 60's mustang build can have replica parts and go for over 90grand and be praised. But if I build a Honda and dont put in a 1000.00 screw with the word SPOON on it Im ridiculed and thats the problem with our scene and the ones selling it at that price are the cause. They don't care about anything other than getting that money for a label whore build

exactly what was imported that totalled 80k? for less than HALF THAT they could have imported an ACTUAL NISSAN SKYLINE R33 GTR and swapped over the entire drivetrain had an awd skyline powered rb26.. not that cookie cutter stuff
yeah but there isnt enough CHANGED on that car for it to be 80k. i deal with old japanese cars all the time. nothing on that car was that much and the most expensive mod was the independent rear suspension.
This car was purchased from a buyer for 55k and burned to a crisp on the delivery truck(totaled).
When I heard that they aren't changing the color after all, that made me sad. That green is not the best...

They seem to forget to tell the audience, the SEMA cars are a tax deduction, which can be filed under R&D, and business expenses. Why would small time companies dump 5 to 6 figure amounts of money into a vehicle with no type of return? It wouldn't make sense to do that for a product show.
