- Bulgarians are quite tricky to play and are very unorthodox. However they do have strong and unique options that can be used in messy games to get significantly further ahead. Be sure never to rush aging up with this civ, you need the time in each age to really make use of their expensive options. Thumbnails are important but there so much value in your videos (infos + entertainment) and you're consistent with those series (road to 2k or this So you wanna play...) so I really think that the thumbnail is secondary.... I would keep more time for you to play, stream, make your personal stuff and if you happen to have somebody who does all your technical stuff, let him do his magic... if you don't I suggest you get a AOE fan in your twitch to work in the edit room for you, could pay him a little and give him exposure for his work in return! @@julianxamo7835 I don't think it's wise to consider Berserks until you're a few castles into imp. They're quite expensive to upgrade after all, and require a lot of production to sustain mass.
Archers -> xbows -> Arbs + Siege ram should be the standard play I'd say. The eco bonuses in Feudal and Castle should hopefully let you get momentum with your archers, and then you develop your position through rams and a slightly faster imp.

Julian Xamo Those are the most expansive zerks actually; for them to be effective, you need at least both armour upgrades, squires and chieftains (if vs cav). That’s why I suggested imp when you can eat this cost and also have enough castles to produce enough berserks to make the investment worthwhile.
Sure, Berserks are good vs Eagles in castle, but That’s a quite niche situation compared to facing knights or xbows. Maybe you could argue going unupgrsded zerks vs pikes + mangos, and sure, if you have a castle up, this might work, but in general I’d stick with xbows + siege/monks/pikes until imp.
Note: if you expect huskarl spam, Eagle spam, pyjama spam or similar then I would agree that producing and upgrading berserks in castle could be good.

I love seeing Bulgarians. More of those unorthodox civs is good. I hope to see Aztecs next and meso civs are a bit hard or me with the exception of Mayans, that are archer focused. It would be great to have more infantry based builds. I know it's not the meta, but Bulgarians and Goths can benefit from have some builds.

Bulgarians have one of the highest winning percentages in mid-tier elos--sixth best on Arabia. I have been playing only Bulgarians for the last few weeks, trying to "master" them (in a 1200 elo sense). I 100% agree with only building kreposts until you get near Imperial. What's worked best for me is starting the castle right about when I start to advance. That gives me time to research stirrups and be ready to make trebs as soon as I hit Imperial.

Faster blacksmith techs has nice synergy with the konnik counting as two unit types.
How do you play Cumans? The Feudal age TC makes for a confusing balance for eco.

I haven’t thought of them as being slow and defensive! Played them highly aggressive most of the time, MAA into knights or cav archers. They suck in late game imho, mass hussars is what I usually go for

Hello, can you play AOE2DE as the Celts (green) with four opponents : Britons (Red), Franks (Blue), Teutons (Yellow) and italians (Grey)
I'm thinking that italians are the counter for bularians, for having the Genoese crossbow, which counters both cavalry and infantry.

I'd still say to make one castle in castle age to get stirrups. Konniks without stirrups are quite bad, they attack so slow. Also stirrups make bulgarian castle age knights best in the game.

Whenever I play Bulgarians I just lose to CA. Are halbs and scorps the way to go?

Do Konniks work?
Just go SO and two hands against ca halb probably, you can also go konnik SO bcs konniks can also be used to raid as well as kill siege while two hands only really counter halbs so if you only want to just counter halbs then go two hands but you will probably still need hussar to kill their siege and also raid

You can't ever fight SO with cav archers, you can fight onagers in low numbers but you can't just keep microing CA against a decent mass of onagers its just not a thing you will eventually get hit by an onager and lose all of ur CA or they will die to konniks because you can't kite konniks and dodge onager shots at the same time. Mangudai are a different story but CA still lose to SO and don't do very well against onagers either.
Don't forget you also have your own cav archers

just abuse houses to defend from raids and profit from OP farmers to boom into mass scorps + hussar + trebs. (make sure to grab the unique scorpion tech, very important) or elephants. Play knight or crossbow in castle age, or scorps, depending on your map. No age up requirement means you can pull off some strong strategies without killing your eco. (like for example scouts on arena for relic control). Khmer is OP. Goodluck.
