I could give up my seat as an act of kindness. But not due to emotional coercion or blackmail. It is a privilege. Not an entitlement. No one should demand.
Don't sweat it. It happens. Something similar happened to me as a teenager. I was on the bus, and typically when I go on transit and public places I don't really make eye contact with people I would either look outside or look down. However I was with my friend on this bus, and just like teenagers, we were talking and laughing. The bus was packed and I'm not really watching who's around me since I'm talking to someone. All I hear is someone getting mad and I look up and it's this middle aged lady yelling at us saying "you young people should be standing " and I forgot what else because of how long ago it was, but basically insinuating that young people don't ever need seats and we should always give it up to old people. She was going on like if we weren't sitting there than she would have been guaranteed that seat. If I wasn't sitting there someone would have sat there before she would because the bus was already packed before she got on (just pointing this out because of how entitled she acted for a specific seat, and we weren't even the only teens sitting down. She obviously was just picking on us to get us to give those specific seats up). The thing is, had she asked nicely , I would have gotten up. Because I was young I didn't really know how to respond or find the right words to say to a random middle aged lady yelling at me or my friend. I think I was just baffled. Me and my friend just sat there in silence staring at eachother for the rest of the ride (which I had not a lot of stops since she came on) so when I got off , she sat down.

She was going on like if we weren't sitting there than she would have been guaranteed that seat. If I wasn't sitting there someone would have sat there before she would because the bus was already packed before she got on (just pointing this out because of how entitled she acted for a specific seat, and we weren't even the only teens sitting down. Because I was young I didn't really know how to respond or find the right words to say to a random middle aged lady yelling at me or my friend. I think I was just baffled. Sitting down helps them to relieve themselves

Actually that old man is wrong, the assigned courtesy / elderly seats are the ones by the door and clearly labelled.
I wonder where you're from..taught no courtesy at all..
They were probably occupied at the time
@@pan-africanmovement938 Fym?He harassed her.
Besides I wonder if you have eyes because there was CLEARLY a seat beside the woman
@@pan-africanmovement938apparently the old man was poorly taught when he was younger...don't pick on women 🤔
@@pan-africanmovement938 In Singapore, there will assigned seats by the doors. Anyone can seat on the unassigned seats obviously because they're paying their fair share of fare for the rides. You should worry more about your country than being ignorant.
That's assault, he could go to jail for that. Giving seats to elderly is willingly, not forcefully!
No, if someone is old or ill or pregnant or has heavy bags, you should give your seat up for them. Seats are for people who need them first, and for people who just want them second.
I do that all the time when I used the public transportation, giving seat to those who needed it. But it’s not legally using force/physical to get what you want. Some shows courtesy to others, some does not, but that doesn't make them wrong doing. Unless there's a sign "You must give up your seat to .....". How do we know whether girl does not have health condition of her own!
Yeah, and like you mentioned, the girl could have had an invisible disability. That’s what I was thinking, she shouldn’t have to disclose that to him or anything. She did say she’d give up a seat for others but not him specifically though, so I doubt she has any invisible disabilities.
Where I live in the USA, I don’t believe it’s written on the trolley, but you have to give up your seat to people with disabilities.
@@LucyKelly-of6cu Not giving a seat to someone is not illegal. Touching a woman and assaulting her is crime and punishable offence.
Wow, he sure seems energetic for an "elderly person".
Wise up. The 60s and 70s are long gone. He should be jailed for assault.
He is such a pervert too. Got his hands on the young woman ugh
and they want equality scared of man hand touching .... i know what happened ws wrong but dont bring this female touchy bs .. it makes women weak

I'm a 70 old man,I don't ask for sitting as the young may be tired from work .
Or disabled/pregnant. I think it's better to look at multiple people if you need to ask to sit so one person doesn't feel obliged to get up.

I really respect the way she stood her ground. He was just a bitter old guy looking to harass a young woman.
Exactly!
Yes, the other lady offered him the seat and he kept harassing the young woman.
He's a grown man yet throws a temper tantrum?
Also, he "forgot" that you gotta give respect to get respect
Assault is assault; regardless if it's a younger person or older person. This man is a criminal, needs to be arrested and banned from boarding mass transports for 2 years, fined, jailed for 6 months and that poor girl needs to be compensated accordingly.
It's an age old Chinese tradition that people respect seniority. That's why the old guy is so annoyed. He's demanding this right for himself. He's clearly not noticed that times have change in China. I'm far older than the guy, yet I wouldn't dream of bullying someone for their seat. If you're too old to stand, maybe you should not travel on public transport in the rush hour.
This is the best response yet.
also if he has the strenght to assault her he has strenght to stand!
No one has the right to touch or assault another person.
Duh
you just haven't heard of cases in Hong Kong about gang stalking.
Different countries have different rights.
That's really annoying. Just because he's older doesn't mean he should always be given priority. We all have the freedom to use the facility, especially when it comes to public transportation or places. The older man had other seats available, so why insist on making the young girl move? How can you respect an older person who treats a young girl that way? It's so disrespectful. The older man should be more understanding, and it seems like the young girl was there first anyway-first come, first served, as they say.
Im 65 years old and I would not call myself elderly thank you very much, this guy was just a bully and he should be hauled off too jail
We're in the young old category.
Same- I'm a few years behind you and I don't think of myself as elderly either! He's an aggresive bully.
He is 65. He is old but not THAT old.
65 is pretty old, the average life expectancy is 70
@@_A.F.K_ Where ? It’s above 80 in most asian countries, 79 in China
65 is not old? Lol brain problem
It doesn't matter the age gap, even in a year difference Asian cultures requires a higher level of respect. Things have changed in the last decade or two as westernization has made an impact on the way poeple think. The older generation are still living with an older mindset.
In India anyone over 40 is old.
That's harassment and assault. Charge him and make sure he gets his seat in jail.
"Respect is earned, not asked."
There is context missing. How did the interaction start? I'm sure she would have given up her seat if he asked nicely. I'm willing to bet he was rude about it, and then tried to bully her when she refused because of his initial disrespectful behavior.
thought the same. maybe the start of the altercation wasn't even about getting a seat but something else altogether, and the old man just wanted to use his age to bully and publicly shame the woman.
We need to stop assuming. He can also possibly ask nicely first and then start being aggressive after his request denied. Him being aggressive here doesn't mean it start aggressivly/rudely
@@benghaz7930yea these news channels don’t really give the full story so can’t really say but to some degree what the old man did was wrong
