Thanks for the information about the air Jamie I didn’t know that I’ve got 2 air stones and 1 air ring in my pond it’s not covered this year so I will be closing down the 2 air stones and slowing down the air ring 👍
No problem bud it's worth doing the colder the water the more oxygen it holds and koi while there all huddled up for winter don't like the disturbance 👍
Thanks bud and sweet it's definitely worth it once you've got over the new pond syndrome 😉 just seriously think about the build and get it right people always say they wish they did things differently and even I'm the same I love my pond but being wood I know it won't last forever so block/bricks is the way to go costs more in the beginning but then you don't have to paint it every year and you don't have to rebuild it in 10 years 🤣
Both ponds and fish looking great Jamie, i agree with your philosophy on feeding and knowing your fish and what they want. As you may remember I'm unheated no cover and work on the same principles, pond down to just about 5c now last week at 4 , ok they don't grow as quickly as most people would like but that's fine with me I'm in the hobby because i love koi not because i want a monster or a show fish just nice fish to enjoy watching 👍. Good to see a video from you Jamie. Hope all is well with you. 😊 Both of your ponds are looking awesome!! Love that grow-on you did with the enclosure. Might have to copy that for my grow-on upgrade with next year’s projects I’m planning. I so wish I lived there to pop on over, look at it and say yup, that’s what I want to do. Stay warm & happy my friend. 👍🥰
Nice job buddy.. Lol someone is still hungry. 9 that is nice!! Lowest ... 15... Wow not a chance .. especially here..that would cost a fortune Good on you letting your koi having a winter
Hey 👋 as soon as that cold spell came the pond balls went on 😂. What many fail to recognise when feeding koi is digestibility. I could feed Cherio's, koi would love it but it would simply go in and out, offer no nutrient value, simply foul the water and put load on the system. This is the same for any food, people need to think more about load on the system rather than if the koi like it. Wheatgerm is a byproduct of commercialism and a way to keep the tills going over Winter by fear. Don't know what you call high protein in % terms, but its not a good idea to feed true high protein as it has a higher thermic value for digestibility so why waste money on it. I suspect its not what many would call high protein unless yiu really are throwing something in, like, Takazumi junior or high growth around 45%. 40% protein is about standard, fat content is the key and higher in lower grade feeds. Cheers
OK Jamie I have sent you a series of screenshots on how to change the setting below 15, I was going to do a video but the problem is, if I do the video and someone bricks their ashp I don't want to be held responsible as the menu you have to go into is very techy and easy to make a mistake. Let me know how you get on mate 👍
All set for the winter Jamie… 👍🏼
Koi are looking great mate… 🐟😊
Thanks bud yeh finally everything is working great 👍

Well said! And exactly the same here if all my koi grew to 90cm I'd have to give half of them away 😄
