I use this pump on a 6000 litre pond and keep it at 14 degrees works great I am no too insulated and only have a tarp on top the pump uses 0.5 kwats per hour so much better than a cloverleaf heater
Hi, for only 39.99 you can have the ashp controlled from an independent controller, set this to desired temp ie 8c then just have ashp temp higher so it kicks on. You can set this controller with a temp difference of only 0.5c!
Yes I actually have an inkbird thermostat I'm not sure I'd be happy with the £450 heat pump being switched on and off all the time though, are you doing this already if so how's it been working?
Hi Jamie always had none heated pond what koi sellers don t understand that the fish they sell are in heated pools so when they sell them to koi keepers like me they can t cope with the winters and the cold kills them koi are COLD water fish
@Trinitybluetwo it all depends on your filtration I have 25 koi in 2600 gallons so I guess 10 would be my maximum for your size pond but if you have a super filtration system maybe a couple more 😉
Thanks for replying 10 would be great but I think I'll go for 9 as odd numbers are good. I've got a easypod over a shower, cheers enjoy watching and learning from koi utubers.
The alternative heat pump you show a picture of is not app controlled I have got one,it looks the same but but it’s not I am now waiting for the restock of thermotec
Excuse my ignorance, just started my first pond, I have been warned about aermonas alley between 5 - 14 degrees, is there a reason it's fine to keep the pond at 10 degrees, what I have been told elsewhere would make me think this could be dangerous - just trying to learn and broaden my understanding here, thanks! #KEEPINGITKOI and bowlnet
Very good question 👍 the reason people say it can be dangerous is 2 reasons parasites are still active above 8c but I don't have parasites on my fish so that's fine the second reason people say its dangerous is the bacteria in your filters doesn't thrive below 14c so if still feeding you just have to keep your eyes on the parameters which I 👍 but my pond and fish are very very healthy so a stable temperature at what ever temp is a better option than swinging temps as young fish can't handle temp swings at lower temps. Hope this has helped

Sounds great they seem really powerful for there size I reckon it could easily heat a larger pond 👍😊

@keepingitkoi Hi, most people think that. yes I'm doing this and mine doesn't switch on /off like you think. Even at only 0.1 temperature diff. Cheers
@@KoiKicks thanks bud good to know 👍
Hi Jamie can you do a video on how to fit a heater to a pond thinking about getting one
I already did it bud during the set up of this one go back through my videos and you'll see it 😊👍

Yes that's why I always let my fry that I sell have a proper winter 👍😊
I see you keep a lot of koi in your ponds, how many would you suggest I could keep in my 1000 gallon pond not heated koi between 20 - 30cm.
@Trinitybluetwo it all depends on your filtration I have 25 koi in 2600 gallons so I guess 10 would be my maximum for your size pond but if you have a super filtration system maybe a couple more 😉

Yeh 9 will be fine unless they all grow above 60cm then you may struggle but less water changes will make them grow slower 😉
The alternative heat pump you show a picture of is not app controlled I have got one,it looks the same but but it’s not I am now waiting for the restock of thermotec
Thanks for the info I hadn't done any research on it just showing alternatives but yeh these little thermotec ones are excellent 😀 👍
