Scientist and athlete Joanna Harper tells us why there's no advantage for transitioned competitors, but broadcaster India Willoughby says they're both totally wrong.

Sha'carri Richardson ran a 12.07 100m. That is the 13,500th fastest 100m in the men's division. Let Mike Tyson in his 50's transition, then compete in the female heavyweight division. He would delete a few women.
@@The_ex-atheistwk6tv the problem is that he is not going to just beat them but as you said it, he is going to delete them. At least in other sports they can reverse it after a few egos are hurt. Male are so wild in combat sports that even some male athletes die or become a vegetable after the fight. For a female to compete in combat sport is as difficult as for male trying to give birth after transitioning through their ass.

I suppose the fundamental issue here is the irrefutable physiological advantage of transwomen who have transitioned after their male puberty. This advantage is in body composition, muscle mass, sceletal structure, strength, lung capacity etc. and does not disappear by T-blockers. These changes at puberty are irrevocable as they change the person fundamentally for good. Up to puberty, btw, girls and boys are pretty even in athletics sprinting events, for example. There is of course a minor T surges also at around 20 weeks in the womb in boys leading to development of the male genitalia and a T surge at around 3-4 years of age in boys, so it's not like the puberty is the only occasion when boys' development fundamentally differs from that of girls.
As sports is highly competitive, the argument that there are men (and transwomen) who lose to female athletes is irrelevant. Of course there are such men and transwomen. When you compare likes for like the situation changes: let's take for example the 30th percentile in performance of men v. the 30th percentile of women, the men consistently overperform the women. The same is true with transwomen. 30th percentile of them overperforms 30th percentile of women exactly as men. This is biology, not a culture dependent construct. And as you might imagine, given the importance of sports in the society, much researched and well demonstrated by sports doctors and physiologists.

In the 100-meter men's world record is 9.58 seconds, and women's 10.49 seconds. This may not sound like a lot, but 100 meters is a short race. She is full of when she said that hormones change the biological male body to be weaker.
we were talking about this at work, where im one of 2 women that work there. i said theres no way a can beat any man at arm wrestling even though a lift weights and work out a lot, therres even a 73 year old man that works there and he can beat me. its simple biology. lets stop this madness and let real born real women compete against born real women, not against a man that turned his body into a science project.
I think perhaps in sports there should 4 categories. Men, women, trans men and trans women.
The only issue I see with that is whether the prize (money) for all divisions should be the same as there will be much less participants in the trans cstegories

The Kent cricketer in question was Maxine Blythin and her average for the 2019 season, which I am confident is the stats that Piers is referring to, is 33 not 100+ as claimed. She/They have not been selected for England or has been called up.

For a long time, women fought for equality with men UNLESS when men competes side by side. The argument should be can women ever be equal to men and at which platform? The transgender argument shows that men and women can never be equal biologically. The next question then is at which condition are women equal to men so that they can compete fairly? After the end of the day, we can find a common ground to agree why at some industry, men are paid at a higher wage and others when women are paid higher. Lets play at our strength instead of forcing equality into play.
If athletes are found with any stimulants in their body they are immediately disqualified and banned, but a male competing against females in any strength-related events is acceptable . How is that possible ? Half the population of the world now aspiring to be an elite athlete undermined , by society’s refusal to stop this madness. So afraid of upsetting the 1% , so they pander to them and upset the vast majority. Equal pay for all elite athletes, having waited for decades ladies, it’s now being taken away from you. With barely a whimper …..

Piers seem unaware that Joanna is actually a trans woman. He entirely fails to engage with her very credible research at Loughborough Uni. Does he dismiss it because he thinks she's a woman!? The irony.
Further, Joanna clearly states she'd only be comfortable with Floyd Mayweather competing post hormone treatment, not on self ID, and crucially, in the bit Piers misses by grandstanding, in a equal weight category. No women heavy enough to compete in Mayweather's weight class? How big do you think Mayweather is? He's a welterweight - that's 145lbs. There are millions of women who could compete in that weight category. But he would still have the advantage because, as a man, he will naturally carry more muscle mass, more power, fast twitch muscle fibres etc.
