I will admit, I used to be aprehensive about the whole trans thing. I'd always have it in my mind that trans women weren't real women and I'd scoff if any one said otherwise. I don't know when it happened but at some point I just stopped caring about such things. If it doesn't hurt any one, who am I to judge? People should just be able to live their lives as they see fit. We should all strive to do that, honestly.

Every problem has a solution, trying to deny or cover it is not one of them. Untreated problems regardless the context lead to more complications. Trans people have healthy bodies but mental issues, so the mistake is in the brain and therefore this is what should b treated

So good for you! I was similar skeptical most of my life, now I sit here tearing up because of what Dylan said. Going through the transformation takes long and it is very tough to find your true shape, but the rewards are absolutely overwhelming. Please don't ask me how I know.

I started socially transitioning when I was in my sophomore year of high school and then I started Testosterone when I was 16. Everyone’s journey is different but honestly not only because of my own personal experience, but because of people I know’s experiences too I do believe that it is I do believe that hormone blockers for kids should be available and hormones for trans teenagers should be available. If I hadn’t started transitioning when I did I don’t think I’d still be here. I’m now 19 years old and had my top surgery. I’ve been on testosterone for over 3 years now :)
Bro im super happy for you but i gotta say that i believe giving kids easy access to Hormon blockers etc will be causing more harm than good. Like, kids/teens are extremly stupid and when some of them are in a difficult time in their lives and they see how other people got so much happier by transitioning maybe they will do it too because they think that transitioning will make them happier. This can defenitly be the case no doubt about that but (i hate using this word) some kids are just in a "phase" and will regret it later in their life because they "destroyed" their male/female body. @@kaze8401 definitely agree. Hormone blockers can be extremely harmful to the body and is not FDA approved. I believe transition should take a long, steady process. Saying this as a transgender 17 year old.

The studies currently coming out on detransition is alarming. It’s literally a scientific experiment to use puberty blockers and give hormones as they are. We don’t know long term effects, it’s off label. I’m all for adults transitioning!! If they make an INFORMED decision to do so. A minor cannot give consent or informed consent for that matter on something so permanent.
Not trying to be negative… I do care about ALL people, which is why I’m saying all this. I feel horrible for those who suffer with gender dysphoria.. I cannot relate, I’ll never know what it’s like, and I acknowledge this. I wish the answer was easier and simpler to treat gender dysphoria. I truly do!! But I have to stand by my strong solid stance after doing my homework that children and minors should not be allowed to transition as it is currently!! Maybe something better and safer will come out… I can only hope this for the future!! I fear that within the next 20yrs, lawsuits are going to explode against those condoning, promoting, and directly helping children transition. Hormone blockers don’t just “pause” puberty as big pharma & pushers of this want you to believe either.
Anthony Padilla should now do an episode with detransitioners. I do think this episode as I watch is rather dangerous with some of the disinfo and unchecked “facts” being said here. Ugh. I just wish there was an easier answer and that no one ever struggled with this!! It seriously breaks my heart. And I promise you, I’m no TERF!! Shame on those who use people’s struggles (on both sides!!) against them or for a true hateful agenda. This should’ve NEVER been so politicized as it has been too… that’s never good for anything or anyone.

Y’all in the replies under this comment are missing the point. It wasn’t stated that a CIS MAN has never pretended to be a woman to do harm in a women’s bathroom. It’s that trans women are living their lives JUST LIKE YOU ARE and are trying to use the restroom. Just like you have a problem with the CIS MEN harming women, trans women are not safe in men’s restrooms because of the CIS MEN that do harm. For crying out loud. It’s not that hard to put together.

Few years ago a friend of mine, a cisgender lesbian girl was attacked outside a public ladies restroom in a bar by some guy because his girlfriend thought that my friend was a trans woman since she's masculine looking.

I personally like to think of “dead naming” as using someone’s divorced last name. I mean you wouldn’t go on and ask deeper about someone’s ex marriage partner, that’s really invasive on their personal life. So basically just know that they have a new name and use it accordingly

Another thing that needs talked about is how we need to tear down gender stereotypes, I'm a male and was born a male, but I also wanted long hair and to play with Barbies, and when I got older I thought that meant I had to either be trans or not like those things, and that's not true either, you can be a male and like stereotypically female things without actually wanting to be a female.
True. And that's true for trans people as well. There's feminine trans guys and masculine trans women. In general, anyone should be able to present and enjoy whatever asthetics they want. Up until very recently I was terrified to wear a skirt because I thought it would make people believe I wasn't really trans. I just want to be a guy in a skirt. Clothing is what you make of it.

I had short hair as a kid because I hated it sticking to my sweaty [sun-induced, running around] face; it got in the way of my activities. I always played with boys with longer hair. My barbies preferred off roading in the mud, of course, after I brushed their hair and put them in heels and sun dresses. Did you have Tonkas? I wanted the steam roller, but grew out of it before I got one. The back hoe was my go to, but it was slow going taking the Barbies to the their Lincoln Log cabin. My parents said I couldn't have everything because it would make me spoiled. I would have shared with you, and my parents would have loved it because it shows growth in humanity. My husband and I now share tools to include drills, saws, whisks, and cleaning sponges. He brushes my hair now ; ) I hope you grow your hair out or have long hair now, so your or your eventual significant other can brush yours. Live you!

When I was a small boy I loved the color yellow. I would do art with yellow. I wanted to wear yellow. And when I would play power rangers with my cousins I always tried to pick the yellow ranger. But everyone told me that its a girl color and eventually I just stopped telling people my favorite color. As I got older my color preference has changed and eventually settled on blue. But I've always wondered why is it ok for a girl to like masculine colors but if a guy likes yellow not ok.

Well yes, I respect trans people. I respect people. However, people like Dylan? No. I mentioned I respect people right? Trans people, any person, religious people. Let's use religion. I don't believe in God. That's a personal opinion. Now, am I going around hating on Christians, Catholics, Muslims, or any other religions? No. Do you see my point? If not, it's okay, let me further explain. And I'm not trying to be sarcastic I'm actually trying to explain to you. Is religion involved in any way shape or form in politics? No. Why? It can't be. It would violate so many of our rights. There's a reason why teachers cant force their kids to believe or to not believe in God. That's up to the parents. Have you ever seen a teacher start her class by forcing the kids to read a page of the bible? No? Exactly. Do you see my point? Yes, be transgender. I don't care. Nobody should care. But here is when it becomes an issue. I don't know if you're aware, but the "they are more than 2 genders" (which there isn't,) is now being taught at schools to literal 5 year olds. This belief is being implemented on kids without the parents consent. There's also already been cases of trans women raping actual women in the restrooms. They're also trying to make it legal for CHILDREN to transition. And don't even dare say the "puberty blockers" are totally irreversible and don't leave damage. Oh they leave a lot of damage. Physical, mental, and emotional trauma. They're also trying to make it ILLEGAL for you to intentionally call someone by the "incorrect pronouns" like calling Dylan a he, which he is. He's a biological male cosplaying and making a mockery of women. Real women. This whole transgender issue is becoming a political thing. So it is becoming a big issue. It's not only the "they just wanna live their lives" yeah, at other people's expenses. So many REAL women are missing out on big opportunities why? Because trans women or filling them. Why? First of all, gender and sex are two different things. Sex is biological, male, female, intersex, that kinda thing. No one is going to deny that. Gender is how one perceives themselves in the context of traditional gender roles.
Being transgender is a very complex thing. It can be both biological and psychological. There are studies that show that transgender people's brains function more closely to that of the gender they identify with, and not their sex at birth.
Children develop a sense of gender very very early in life. Same with sexual orientation. Whether you like it or not, children are going to find people pretty or find that they feel like a gender that doesn't align with their sex at birth. They don't know what these feelings are yet, but they are still there. So it is important to teach them about what gender and sexual orientation are so that they are more able to understand their own needs and who they are. I don't think we should be teaching elementary students obviously. Middle school would be the best time because that's when most kids would start going through puberty and these feelings become more complex and pronounced.
Being trans shouldn't be political. It's just another immutable characteristic like being gay or straight or black or white. The teaching of what gender is is important.

I love how he didn’t group trans men and women together. I’m cis female, but I do think both trans communities have totally different experiences and there’s no way to get through each individual issue within one interview. Hearing from the women separately is very important and I look forward to a future trans men video.

My daughter years ago came to me and said she was bi sexual she thought I'd disown her because I'm Christian but I explained to her no matter what I love her because she is my little girl and as long as she is not going out and getting into trouble I said you need to be comfortable within your own skin and I said the same to my 17 year old son who said was pan they are my flesh and blood I gave life to them to be happy go after their dreams I don't understand why people disown their children after finding it difficult to build up the courage to tell you their gay etc would you rather our children be depressed commit suicide because they are not accepted by their loved ones for being who they are beautiful inside and outside my kids are teaching me now and helping me understand the process and the difference between gay bi sexual etc it is me teaching them and them teaching me as well and I love how close we are as a family please guys stop teaching our children that is wrong to be comfortable within your own skin and to tell them to stay away from people who are born different that's only teaching them how to become bullies etc
This. I just don’t understand how someone could abandon their child, even if you completely disagree with how they live their lives, you should always love them. You should be willing to lay down your life for your kid, not throw them to the streets. It’s just awful how anyone could do that.

I absolutely loved this video. As a cis woman I can be unintentionally ignorant to this subject simply because I don't know about it. These woman's explanations really helped me work through questions I had. I grew up with a best friend who was a trans man. While I always respected him and saw first hand how happy he was the more he transitioned, I still had so many questions I didn't feel comfortable asking him because I didn't want to be invasive or disrespectful and it's honestly none of my business. @@mystic22g4 I assume you say that because they might not have female reproductive organs, but that thinking is flawed. Biological woman sometimes have their reproductive organs removed due to health reasons, but them not having those organs doesn't mean they aren't woman right? So that means you can be a woman without those organs. You are a woman if you feel and identity as one. Not every man is a woman, because not every man wants to be one or feels like one. It's that simple. And it's really none of your concern how women identity themselves, that's their business.

Me, as a real woman, can say that a woman is an adult human female. That's it. It's engraved in your bones, the way your body is built. Why do you think scientists can go back and identify a skeleton of hundreds of years ago as a male or female? It's in their bones. It's biology. If you're body isn't built to give birth, if your body isn't of the nature to have periods or to give birth, you're not a woman. No matter how hard you try to identify as one, you're not a woman. No amount of make up, dresses, or "hormones" can change that.

As a transwoman I just want to add that not all of us know from an early age. It shouldn't matter when you realize nor should you feel you need to explain why you are trans. I didn't know until I was like 15 and I didnt accept myself enough to do anything until I was 24. We all figure it out in our own time

This is true for any sexuality/gender identity. There's no age prerequisite to determine if your feelings are valid or not.

Yes!! I think this is something that's really important to touch on, because a lot of videos talk about it like everyone knows from the age of 3 or something. While some people obviously do, a lot of other people don't realise it at all until they're in their teens or adulthood! I'm a trans man but I loved dolls and dressing up as a kid and my parents didn't put much emphasis on gender so I didn't think about it all that much and I didn't really "show signs" as a kid. I only started to realise I was trans when I started puberty and my body changed and I started thinking more about what gender meant to me. But since I was quite feminine as a kid, some of my family members actually didn't believe me when I came out to them because they only ever heard stories of people where it was obvious since they were kids.
@@SolarpunkVince yeah exactly! For me I didn't feel any sort of way about my gender until male puberty and I quickly realized I did not like the changes that were occurring to me. Before that moment I just didn't think about gender at all as it didn't mean much for my life either. You don't get much bodily autonomy until later in life too which I think makes it hard for people to realize how they want to express themselves
Thinking “trans people are weird” and then realizing you’re trans yourself is so surreal. I don’t identify with my agab (assigned gender at birth) now because I found the words for how I feel, but I had internalized transphobia I have had to deal with for a while, and I think that it stems from jealousy
I had internalized transphobia as well. And then when I realized I was trans it was like a “oh that’s why I thought they’re weird, it’s because I’m weird in general-“ and I kinda projected that onto others.

They've gotten it totally wrong on gender. Gender, (there are 2 male, and female) that's it, refers to the sex assigned at birth and the social aspects of being male or female, respectively. Male and female are biological categories which are fixed and permanent.
Then, they conflate gender and personality. Then, they conflate gender and gender roles. Then they conflate gender with sexual preference. Then, they conflate males with females, fact with fiction and men with women.
A woman isn't a personality, a social construct, a feeling, or a costume that a man can just put on or take off-- She's an adult, human, female. As it turns out, there's a prerequisite to being a woman-- and that's being born female. For some reason, they seem unable to process that
As a cisgendered woman, I would hate it if someone used he/him pronouns with me...and i don't even have gender dysphoria, etc so I couldn't imagine! I agree, we NEED to respect others' pronouns. Loved this interview and I love Dylan!! Love these beautiful women, welcome to the club!

@@pvic6959 that’s a valid question, don’t worry! It’s completely okay to just not be attracted to a person sexually. That can be a very important part of any romantic relationship. And I’m saying this as a trans guy, it’s alright. Being attracted to women doesn’t necessarily mean being sexually attracted to every single woman, after all, since no woman has the same physicality. As long as you’re respectful about it (and you already seem super respectful and kind when it comes to talking about the trans community) it’s all good mate 👍.
People sometimes seem to forget that a lot of romantic attraction is paired up with both physical and sexual attraction, which isn’t shallow at all and is in fact rather normal. Remember though that not all trans women have the same sexual characteristics, some of us (as in, just trans people in general) get sex changes. It isn’t very often (as explained by one of the women in the video) but what that would basically mean is that (and you can, of course, decide for yourself whether or not my guess is accurate) you’re not /not/ attracted to trans women but you /are/ not attracted to dicks. Which is fine! Just maybe make sure to talk first with your future lover(s) before doing anything sexual (or rather just before getting into any intimate relationship) and establish both your preferences and what you are comfortable with. I’m pretty sure like 99% of trans women would be understanding about it but if you ever feel pressured (and this applies to any lover really) you have every single right to leave.

Dude her explaining the hormones' medications opened my eyes a bit. I literally take Spirolactone for my acne.
Cis-men (or trans-women who are not taking hormones) who get treatment against prostate cancer might get Cyproterone-acetate (also known as Androcur) prescribed, which is the testosterone suppressing drug the gender clinic I am at has used for quite some time (and I am still using).
It's to stop possible hormones from harming the healing process or, before radiotherapy making matters worse in the affected area.
A colleague of mine who has prostate cancer at first argued that I was overstating some of the possibilities hormones could start to have (I had warned people that if I would suddenly explode out of anger or frustration that they would know why that was, which he thought was quite the exaggeration).
I spoke with him when he had been on that drug for just a month and the first thing he said when he saw me was "Holy shit I get it now", because just like I experienced for about 4 months taking the drug without other hormones present: you enter menopause, which well...does all kinds of stuff with your mood.
A cis-women on the other hand found out that the Androcur I take is nearly identical tot he Diane35 contraceptive pill, which she uses against severe acne.
@@Dutch3DMaster saw palmetto helps with prostate cancer. I also took spinolactone for my hormones. It made me extremely depressed.

As someone who has transitioned and then detransitioned, I know for certain it could have been prevented by the world around me just supporting and BELIEVING me when I did ID as trans. It was extremely hard to admit to myself, and later other people (still in that process lol), that I had been wrong when I’d had to fight to be believed for years - even though I never even medically transitioned. Other trans people’s support is what gave me the courage to really look into my identity. If I had just had the chance to explore my identity freely I would have known what was right for me much earlier. If my parents had let me wear ”boy clothes”, if I had been allowed to cut my hair, if I hadn’t had to hear constant comments about being ”too masculine” or ”too feminine”, and the list goes on…
So sorry you didn't get that gentleness, and empathy, and space to figure it all out on your own time, and in a completely safe and accepting environment. It truly takes patience and understanding. I hope you're doing better

I used to work with a trans woman at my last job (I wasn’t close with her, but she was a really nice person and was super fun to be around).
For the longest time no one knew and in that time no one ever batted an eye and just thought she was a woman. When another coworker dug back into her social media history and found out they told everyone and instantly people felt the need to judge and criticize her. It became the gossip of the workplace where coworkers would find her socials and dig back to look at pictures of her before she transitioned. Making comments like, “I knew something was off because of X, Y, Z” and “She looked so much better as a man”, etc. it became the topic of discussion with her for others, and although she’s confident in her identity she dealt with depression and addiction before fully transitioning.
She’s long since left that job fortunately, but to hear how people’s perspectives/opinions of her changed and how she was treated differently when people found out about her gender is disgusting.

I appreciate the fact the the medication thing was brought up because she’s 100% right not to mention the fact that there are intersex people like myself (I have Turner Syndrome) where I would consider myself cis because I identify as female and am AFAB but do to my Turners I have to go through HRT and have since I was a little kid. Starting with HGH (human growth hormone) and estrogen blockers, and now Estrogen and Progesterone (of which I took separately for a long time but now take birth control to get both)
This episode really touched my heart and is a favorite of mine's in terms of interviewing people 🥰🥰🥰

I'm also a trans woman 24 yo, realized myself when i was 6 but surely didn't know what it was and tried to restrict my feelings. At 22 i came out and one year later started hormones
As a trans woman myself, I'm so glad that they emphasized how (generally) unimportant bottom surgery is in the grand scheme of the whole process. Like, I hardly think genitalia is the most meaningful aspect or indicator of womanhood, so I'm baffled so many people think that's the uniting factor of that identity.

maybe because for all of human history women have been oppressed on the basis of sex- women can be forcibly impregnated. only people with penises can forcibly impregnate, and only people with vaginas can forcibly impregnate. female genitalia and female bodily functions are also seen, or have been seen, as unclean- menstrual huts, the idea that menstruation/discharge is shameful, etc. and the reason people care about vaginoplasties- a serious, complicated and risky surgery- is because if you have a penis, you can rape and forcibly impregnate a woman. 99% of rapists are male. i'm a natal female with gender dysphoria, and i want to FULLY medically transition. i won't be satisfied until i have had a double mastectomy and a phalloplasty- genitals are involved in dysphoria. if you're saying you want to be a woman but somehow you're totally fine with your penis, i don't believe you have dysphoria, i believe you have a fetish.
Well said. Bottom surgery is largely to fit more into societal norms just like any other thing you may do in order to transition, it's not the cornerstone of it.

I am partway through my physical transition and even though I am out to everyone I care about, I do work in customer service and I will go based off whatever the customer sees me as because I am scared of their reactions. If they refer to me as "sir" then if I get asked my name I will give them my 'masc' name and if they refer to me as "ma'am" or something similar then I will give them my 'fem' name because I'm fucking scared of what some hateful people can do.

I am a trans person who's partner is a detransitioner; they do regret it, they identify as nonbinary- hrt just wasn't for them, they consider themselves detrans bc of this. I hate that detransitioners are used against trans people, because even most detrans people understand how important transition acess is. the rare cases that they aren't get huge publicity

I recently started following Dylan, on the recommendation of my little sister, and wow, what an absolutely gorgeous girl, inside and out. Not only has she got the most beautiful, genuine, smile I think I’ve ever seen, she also seems so lovely and sweet. You can just see the happiness that outwardly transitioning is bringing her, just glowing on her face, and to think that anybody resents that, or would try to hurt her for it, absolutely breaks my heart.
I think the main thing cis people really just need to understand (especially some of y'all in the comments) when we say access to transition is life or death, we are not exaggerating. Taking away the option of transition has and will kill people.

I'm friends with three trans people (both ftm and mtf) and never did it occur to me to ask them about surgery or their dead name. Yes, I did know two of them before they came out, but even then, of what relevance would that be?
It's really none of my business, unless they wanna talk about it.
Also they're all in their teen years and I can't imagine why they shouldn't be allowed to transition.
They are so much happier and yes, not everyone might be accepting, but I'm so glad they get to be their true selves and have it reflected in their body, if they want to.

I’m literally trans (enby) and I still feel awkward asking people about what they want to do medically. Like it might help me to know just to help me kinda figure out what I want to do, but it’s so invasive
I just recently came out to my family as Non Binary and it wasn’t from me. I recently graduated, but they announced my name and not my deadname, so my whole family found out I was trans and my dad did NOT like it. He was extremely mad at me just because I didn’t tell him sooner. We live 4 hours apart so I visit him on holidays and before my graduation there wasn’t any time to tell him. I recently visited him and he admitted that when I visited he wasn’t going to talk to me at all and just shut me out, bc he was that mad. Instead he had a heart to heart talk with me about how it made him feel and how it affected him. Eventually he came around during that visit and we spent more time together than we ever had. He was willing to learn about me and trans people, and he asked so many questions. All though he wanted to shut me out, his love for me made him spend time with me and I’m so proud of him 😭
I'm so happy that your father was able to accept you. A lot of parents don't know how to react in these situations, but the fact that he took the time to hear you out andn spend time with you is a real sign that he truly cares. I wish you all the best!

I sit here night after night watching UA-cam, only to be bombarded by anti trans videos. People judging and dehumanising trans people. To the point of me trying to explain to them in the comments that, they have got it all wrong, trans are not out to attack women in bathrooms or groom young children into some sort of perverted fetish that they have. It breaks my heart because I watch Dylans videos and totally understand where she's coming from and why she's documenting it all. Which i must say a huge thankyou to her for doing it, shes sharing a very personal journey and coping so much hate, yet she keeps going, shes saving young people from suicide. I believe that with every bone in my body. On a more personal level, every time these people attack trans woman, their attacking my daughter and that really pisses me off, BIG TIME. I've coped so much abuse been told I should be in jail for child abuse, that both myself and daughter are mentally insane ect. Then tonight I've come across yr channel and seeing these beautiful woman be so happy and open brings me such joy. My heart goes out to all trans people, and just people of the LGBTQ community in general. Especially those who's families rejected them. That is an utter nightmare. I know what it feels like to have family look down upon you, and shame you, and use you as the scapegoat. And that's heartbreaking enough. To have family disown you just for being who you are is so completely unfair. It hurts my heart to hear it happens so much to people in these communities. But it makes me so happy to see how strong these communities are. And growing stronger every day!

one thing i do want to say about this video is it makes it sound like most trans women realize they want to be a girl from as far back as they can remember, that isn't necessarily true. it's a very case by case thing, and many people grew up with gender not really being made a big enough deal to pay attention to until puberty.

My best friend, (who was born male, and wants to transition to female) is in they're process of becoming who they want to be. Me and my whole friend group 100% support her, but since they kinda don't wanna make a scene with people they know they keep it private. However everyday we help her try her best to express herself. So whenever I see the types of interviews it's helps me remind myself of her and all of her hard-work. People should just accept who they are. Like we all are humans :)

I always knew I wanted to be a girl, a woman, but growing up in a christian family made it really impossible to accept, I used to pray to God "Make me a woman or kill me" while crying on my room when I was 12-15 I tried to kill myself several times until I couldn't handle it anymore. I remember one day I just came out to a friend, she helped me buy clothes I felt too ashamed of getting on my own, I came back home and found out a new song , released that SAME DAY of a Spanish band called Ska P, the song's name is Colores and it changed my life. It literally is about trans woman and how to love them and I couldn't stop crying, it was so bad that I had no other option than to come out to my family and everyone. It's been 3 years in HRT and I am happier than ever.

If you're talking about comments such as the one she made about crying, she has addressed that saying she's not at all proud of some of the stereotypes she was using in her earlier videos of transitioning, but that she is proud of her growth since then. I understand that you didn't like the stereotypes she was reinforcing, but that isn't an excuse for misgendering. Just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you can stop referring to them as their preferred gender. You don't have to like Dylan, but at least respect their pronouns.

As someone who is non-binary I get told I’m female because of my autonomy and get shunned for asking them to use they pronouns and ‘oh you’re one of them’ and ‘you look like a girl’ and I honestly hate it so much, I wish people were more educated. @@ewyes5935 oh no it's very important. For example in the bathroom debate, this distinction is vital. If we're dividing bathrooms based on gender, trans women can use women's bathrooms. If we're dividing it based on sex then it gets tricky. Same with sports. If sports are separated by sex then excluding trans people from participating has a legal basis, if it's gender then they don't.

Ftm here: Not everyone feels that urge from being a kid knowing they aren’t supposed to be their assigned gender at birth. Sometimes it manifests as “Oh, I’m different from everyone else. Maybe I’m not girly enough or I’m too weird. I should dress like those girls or be pretty like those girls.” I thought I wasn’t a good enough girl and I should be skinnier and prettier. I always felt trapped in my body, never happy. Even after being exposed to trans people, I didn’t put two and two together until a couple years ago in my twenties. Now I’m happily transgender and FINALLY comfortable in my body :)

I am a transgender girl. Once I went to get a job. After I told the HR manager that I am a transgender girl she asked me what I have in my pants. She didn't got the answer. That was weird and unprofessional.

It would be a coincidence of biblical proportions if virtually every nation in recorded history socialized men and women to perform the same roles in social contexts. How did these communities, which are hundreds of kilometers apart and in complete isolation from one another, reach the same social norms? There must be a biological urge that causes men and women to behave differently. This biological urge is called gender.
As a trans woman that started transitioning when I was a kid. The most valuable asset I had was the fact my family supported my medical treatment. I'm glad you're happy and wish more people could have families that were as supportive as yours. Too often it seems like even ambivalence or apathy from relatives would be an improvement in people's lives because of how their families (which should be support systems) turn against them and actively harm them in situations like these. I think surgery is actually mostly for the person themselves, not society, its completely normal to want it or not want it, some people feel dysphoria around it and some people don't, there's no need to go into depth about how hard it is specifically to oppose it, all surgery has recovery times and care practice, if someone is happy with the process then go for it
also for the pronouns, I think its actually better to default to they, or the persons name and if they want to correct you they can, being in the closet and being asked your pronouns over and over again can be really nerve wracking, or being asked in front of a ton of people too when you would rather just have a few people know
Gender dysphoria is a medically recognized and diagnosed mental illness. The momeny society gave into this whole "it's not a mental illness" crap, the suicide rate for people with gender dysphoria shot up from the societal average of 8% to over 40%. That's what happens when we stop treating mental illness.

Some states in the US require you to get bottom surgery (not just hormons or with hormons) in order for your birth certificate to change to the gender you feel.
