I think that with Two-tone its the fact that it was basically mainly white guys fronting bands that were ripping off well established Ska tunes from a different era... or putting a Ska beat to songs like "my girl friggin lollipop" and actually getting into the charts at the time by doing so. ... it never was the multicultural answer to everything that some bands were trying to make out at the time. Also Two-tone was born out of a time that was depressing and dangerous to live in if you were a teenager at the time regardless of your colour. I know only too well. For most folk who lived in those times the lyrics in most genuine Two-tone songs of the time (not the happy sounding ones that they ripped off from original Ska artists) do not give happy messages or leave happy memories of the time for most folk.
You know what? Don't think too much about it ... that's the best part. People today over intellectualise everything ... and make it all bloody worse 😅😅 😅😅😅
Saw them at a local pub to me in Barnsley called The Red Lion. The stage was an old curtain side hgv trailer with one of the curtains took off. There was about 3 Hells Angels who follow them all over, Scooter lads, Football casuals, piss heads, Mods and Punks in their Ben Sherman braces and Docker boots, joints getting passed around and not one hint of bother. When lip up fatty was played it was a sight to behold with everyone with their tops over their heads belly bouncing off each other and one of the best gigs ive been to and I’ve seen the Rolling Stones, Oasis, Kasabian, Ocean Colour Scene, The Coral etc👍👌
First band I saw live, 1980 at the Rainbow London, first sight of Buster was him walking to the front of the stage during sound check eating a jar of pickled onions, priceless, awesome night!!!

This Guy is Buster Bloodvessel and they are Bad Mannere. He has the longest tongue in music. Burst onto the scene in England in the 80s with his own brand of Ska and crazy lyrics and were loved for it then and still loved for it now.

What a sound 😎👍🥳💥.. A DIFFERENT CLASS 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
I will never understand why Ska and the Two-tone genre isn't more popular!!! It is instant anti-depressants for me!!
