Thank you for waiting! This video was fun to make and I loved getting to talk about series/characters I have yet to explore on the channel. Hope you enjoy!
Dude. You're awesome, thanks so much for this. You've really helped the way I view the villains I write in my stories. You've motivated me to write my villains differently from the next big bad. Thank you for this 50 minutes at 3 am to early 4.
@JohnyJames-vx2ei thank you, I'm happy to hear that! I'm glad I could help you in your writing journey. It's something I myself try to gain out of making these videos, as someone who is making a comic, so it's good to know it also helped someone else.
I feel like Toriyama truly put the emphasis that Freiza is litteraly the apex of evil. Hell he even stated that Freiza was essentially the personification of what he imagined evil would look like when he was a child. It was one of Jump's greatest execution of evil
Something I really liked about Meruem was how subtle his transition was into a more nuanced character. He starts off as the type of character you expect to have in an arc like Chimera Ant but the more he interacts with Komugi he slowly starts to become a more human like person and it's done in a such a subtle way that like Meruem I to didn't even notice he was changing because of it which is not an easy thing to write but Togashi pulled it off so well. Meruem's still a villain at the end of the day but whenever he interacts with Komugi during those times he doesn't feel like one and god their final scene had me in tears.
For sure. Honestly, in a lot of ways, I am content with the story at this point. I haven't even read that far into dark continent, but I just feel like Chimera Ant and the Election arc wrapped up a lot of great stories
Another villain that has impacted me quite a bit is Shigaraki from mha. In my opinion, most of the characters in mha are pretty surface level, that doesnt mean they're uninteresting but i struggle to relate or understand the characters. Shigaraki, on the other hand offers something very different. With the almost inherently evil power he has, to all the bad influences from his parental figures, its hard to see how he could have turned out good. Despite all of this, he's not cruel, he cares about his friends, and we can see that he has conflicted feelings about what he does. He really embodies for me this "evil" that is forced onto someone because of their condition. People who seem unredeemable but deeply are just yearning for acceptance.
Rurouni Kenshin has two of my favorite Jump villains ever - Shishio and Enishi. I think their power as characters comes from how they force Kenshin to confront different aspects of his past as he learns what atonement really means. Shishio is particularly compelling for a lot of the same reasons I liked Obito in Naruto. The Kyoto Arc is also one of my favorite arca in all of Shonen manga, and Shishio also brings so many great characters into the series like Saito, Soujirou, and Anji.
I will still read Kenshin one of these days (I own a lot of the manga), but I don't know if I'll really talk about it too much publicly, unfortunately. Even if I really love it, I don't want to open that can of worms where everyone can see. But thank you for sharing your thoughts!
@@NINJAMUSHI understandable. It's the ultimate exercise in separating the artist from their art, and admittedly I'm able to do that better with something like Kenshin than I am with a band like Lostprophets, which I was a huge fan of growing up but can't bring myself to listen to after it came out that the lead singer was a garbage human being.
Great video. I'm getting a bit tired of battle shonen, as there's so much of it, but damn they sure know how to grab an audience. Have you read or watched Gintama? It likely also has examples that are good enough to be in this video, though they would include massive spoilers.
@@NINJAMUSHI If you decide to read/watch Gintama, I'd just like to say to enjoy the journey. Do NOT rush through it trying to get to the plot-important arcs, you WILL get burnt out. Gintama is more like an episodic sitcom that occasionally hits you emotionally, often adding in some sort of life lesson along the way.
I love how different each villain type character is different. Like how Naruto villains arent even evil they're just hurt, the truly evil characters aren't even considered villains.(Danzo) One piece villain's just shows the evil in all sides, marine, pirate, even the government itself. Dragon ball is just inverse variations of Goku's goal
Can u please make some type-moon content it’s the strongest franchise in anime with their base abilities giving them immeasurable speed. & my power scaling subs & playlists r all the proof we need, my other subs etc prove it also has the best written characters in anime. Like generic anime channel’s shirou vid, it’s billion$ budget & ufotable even come together to give us peak animation of any year they drop or period. Its also the lotr of anime with lore on lore & galore.
@@NINJAMUSHI it’s cool I personally feel like the stay night visual novel,(I especially hope u gave this 1 a chance cause the anime doesn’t do it justice) the garden of sinners, Tsukihime & witch on the holy night r better by a mile. But /zero still makes for great content.
Watched this entire thing and it proves my point that manga will reign supreme and Marvel/DC will die out soon. To be able to love a villain is amazing story structure.
Amazing video man. Is there any chance we get a part 2? There are many more shonen villians to talk about. Shigraki, aizen, sukuna etc. And even if you dont thanks for this masterpiece
thank you, I appreciate that! I don't plan on making a part 2, although there's other villains I'd love to discuss, because I mostly covered the ideas that I wanted to cover. You never know, though. This video was originally supposed to only be a 15 minute video then I found more I wanted to talk about lol
Of all villains, you should have also included Piccolo Daimao (Great Mage Piccolo), he was a great threat in the first half of DB manga series (before the events of DBZ, when goku was a kid) 🤔
I could have, but there's a lot of Dragon Ball villains to pick from and I wanted to talk about Frieza/Cell so I could bring it full circle when talking about Meruem. Piccolo is great though!
Bleach, Naruto & Hunter X Hunter are probably the anime whos villains have impacted me the most! I mean Zabuza, Pain, Ulquiorra, Aizen, Meruem and Chrollo Lucifer just to name a few...
@crocoboi7936 For sure. I think a lot of detractors focus solely on the reveals towards the end of the story, as if that all undermines his character. Personally, I was never bothered by it because he stays true to himself and his values.

Supposedly one of Toriyama's inspirations for Frieza was realty speculators lol
No, I don't have a source, so take it with a grain of salt

Exactly! Good way of putting it
Even if Togashi never finishes it HxH he can stand proud for crafting the Chimera Ant arc and Meruem. Manga villainary peaked here for me
For sure. Honestly, in a lot of ways, I am content with the story at this point. I haven't even read that far into dark continent, but I just feel like Chimera Ant and the Election arc wrapped up a lot of great stories
Imo he was already standing proud before Hxh. With villians like Toguro and Sensui in Yu Yu Hakusho
HxH would still be top 5 Shounen if it ended after York New nevermind Chimera Ant
@projectmessiah yeh those defines really kileld his back😔
I've never seen a video of this quality capture so many different spectrums of villainy before, well done.

Here's my take on these iconic villains 😏😈🖤
S: Frieza, Makima, Light Yagami, Meruem, Nagato (Pain), Doflamingo
A+: Gaara, Crocodile
A: Obito, Cell, Kaido

@@NINJAMUSHI So you’ve chosen DEATH, HAKAI!

Kid Buu DBZ is the greatest evil
All due respect, I think I have 0 interest in ever writing anything about the Buu saga.
U need to read better manga bro
Like what?
Makima is just woman fr
its funny how all of Naruto's Foils are better written n more interesting than him, wat a pathetic excuse for a Protagonist
I mean you can think that, but I strongly disagree with that take. Naruto is written much better than most give him credit for.
