Thought i was the only brave guy that dresses nice to work on his car. Good vid.. i'm not coming to terms with the fact that i have to do this pretty much anytime I have to work on my engine.
So thanks to your step by step process I was able to rip apart the front replace the idler pulley and tensioner assembly. Replaced the spark plugs and got everything reinstalled in about 3 days. A+ 09 CLK 550
Awesome video!😊 💜 Is this the same process for a Mercedes c280 2006? My fan was super loud then it finally burned out. So do you think I need a new engine module? & also a cooling fan? Or 1 or the other ?
I understand that some Mercedes, once the fan is intalled, that you need a scanner to program the fan to communicate with the ECU... Then with the scanner you build up the fan speed, starting 10%, 20% and so forth, up to 70-80% ... Is this true and does it need to be done to a 2005 Mercedes Clk320 2 Door Coupe ??? We have installed 2 fan modules and they still don't work and do not have the scanner to program the fan if necessary... Thank You,
You sir are a skilled mechanic, I have a 2005 SLK55 AMG and I want to replaced the serpentine belt, tensioner and idler pulley, there doesn't seem to be a lot of good information on the entire process but when I look in the engine bay the clearance is very slight, it looks like removing the fan assembly is a must to get to it without tearing up your hands and arms. Can you give me any pointers? Thanks for the excellent video.
GOT UR REPLY A BIT TOO LATE REGARDING THE BATTERY DISCONNECT. SINCE THE CLK HAS ONLY ONE, WOULD I B DISCONNECTING THE GROUND CABLE? ONE FURTHER NOTE...I HAVE A 2008 CLK350....UR INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO THE "T" EXCEPT THAT I HAVE AN UPPER, LARGE RADIATOR HOSE TO THE RIGHT AS ONE IS FACING THE ENGINE THAT I NEEDED TO DISCONNECT IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE REMOVAL OF THE FAN ASSEMBLY. ON THE OTHER SIDE WERE THE SILVER METAL TRANSMISSION(?) LINES THAT I DID NOT WISH TO FOOL WITH. ONCE THAT UPPER HOSE WAS REMOVED...THE UNIT CAME RIGHT OUT. FINALLY, THERE WAS NO NEED TO GO UNDER THE CAR TO SNIP THE ZIP TIE AS THERE WEREN'T ANY....WHICH MADE ME HAPPY. NOW I JUST NEED TO REASSEMBLE BUT FIRST I AM LOOKING FOR SOME INSTRUCTIONS TO REMOVE THE FRONT BUMBER AS I HAVE SOME OTHER REPAIRS TO DO FROM AN ACCIDENT. THANKS AGAIN...GREAT WORK
Yes you can disconnect the ground cable. Good to hear you got the fan assembly out smoothly! The front bumper should have a number of clips to remove it, just take your time with it to not break any clips upon removal.
Before removing it, or thinking about buying a new one, you HAVE to test it first. 2min in which you may save hundreds. "Fan doesnt turn on at all" may have many causes ...
I have the bosch impact drill in the video and socket set, but my drill to socket adapter is 3 inches long. Can you tell me what the product number on your website is for the short socket adapter as seen on the drill in the video?
It looks like your well versed in this area, I have an issue with my 2000 s500 w220 we bought a replacement fan from FCP Euro it fits great the problem is This model has a different control unit already which I want to change to the 4 prong plug on the new fan. So I want to jump with a harness that I will make from the old style controller to the new type controller can you help guide me. Thank you in advance. Chuck
Can any help me! I got a 2010 W212 E550 . My radiator fan is stuck on high. After I turn off my car and lock it. The fan Turns off! I’m not sure if it’s the reply ? OR THE EMC
Hello, usually the main fix is to replace the whole assembly. You may be able to take the whole unit apart, but that would require some digging to see which bearing is needed, along with a supplier who offers it.
The would be the temperature symbol that's usually displayed on the bottom right corner of your gauge cluster. If there's an issue with the cooling fan it will show up prominently in the center of the cluster.
Hi Pauline! Unfortunately that model was a super limited release in the US, and !we wouldn't have acces to service instructions for it or a model to shoot a DIY on. Sorry about that!
Hi. W203 C200K Model here. Just replaced my fan. The fan spin very slow and does it requires to do re-setting? Or the fan is like 'plug and play' kind? No resetting to be made after install? Please advise. Thanks.
Do cooling fans have relays? I have a 2006 C230 and it’s overheating and AC is also not working, I’m not sure if it’s the cooling fan or maybe a relay somewhere. Thank you in advance.
HI Abdel, the fan is thermostatically controlled, there may be a way to bypass it and perhaps wire the fan up to a switch or power. Why do you want the fan running high all the time? Is your car having cooling problems? Also, something to keep in mind, when you are driving for example on the highway, the airflow going thru the radiator can actually be stronger than a fan, a fan running at this time will actually hurt airflow.
i have a s400 cdi, the fan does not run, never; the speed is limited to 80 km/h, temperature rises. can it be the faulty fan? Does your have the same symptoms?
@@profmanu6990 Yup, same symptoms, I pulled my fan and am dealing with the brain box associated with the fan right now. I would first test the fan. Disconnect the power cable to the fan and test the leads with a multimeter, with the engine running and a/c on, if there is 12 plus volts going through the cable, then you can deduce that your fan is bad. If no electricity is going to the fan, then you have to work in reverse; locate the relay for the radiator/ac unit in the fuze box and test that, if it is good, then there is a short in the wiring somewhere. I always just diagnose and remove variables one at a time.
Okay I got a Mercedes c230 2006 & I was driving it but it started to over heat when I had the ac on & it always does when I turn it on now also “ coolant visit workshop “ light comes up I noticed my there wasn’t any coolant & the fan doesn’t turn on now when I hit the ac at all
The fan might have failed, but it also sounds like you are low on coolant, you could have a coolant leak somewhere. Definitely get it properly diagnosed!
Hello Seth, we'll be happy to help you out with that. Please email us with your VIN - products@fcpeuro.com and we'll send you over a link for the correct fan.
Look up the fan for each car and see if it's the same part number. Or even easier, just look it up for one car model on FCP Euro & then look at the applications list, FCP lists all the models a certain part will fit.

Excellent substitute for a factory shop manual. Good job top to bottom on how to, video and talking through the process. Thank you.
Very lean and Efficient way to work .Great Job and thanks
I watched your video because I couldn’t get the fan out of my 2007 C350. I was replacing the alternator.
Thank you so much! Saved me over $1000!!!!
My second time a great video thanks
Glad to hear it!
Just change mine on a 2004 mercedes s55 amg. Replace with after market brushless fan work great...
Good video man. Quite a little multi step process. I'll be having it done :) If I was younger and more ambitious ...
Thanks, Paul!
Was trying to do this earlier today and totally gave up it’s beyond difficult
Awesome video!😊 💜 Is this the same process for a Mercedes c280 2006? My fan was super loud then it finally burned out. So do you think I need a new engine module? & also a cooling fan? Or 1 or the other ?
Thank you Natasha. It is very likely that you'll need a fan assembly. The procedure will be identical
Is that the same process for 2003 Mercedes C240? I need mine replaced. Shops want to charge so much for an easy assembly.
@@fcpeuro is the fan assembly the entire piece that is in this video?
Thank you very much
Great video, thanks for posting!

Yeah not sure this applies to SLK55. I have a 2007 year model and the top cross member does not come off and the fan won't come out
great video, thank you
Gonna take my gloves off so I can feel things a little better...okay last time I tried that, I ended up with a mini me 😂
😂
🤣😂🤣😂
Gold LOL
😂
I hv a 2002 s430 i replaced the old fan with new radiator fan and module, fan will not work. Is there a blower fuse? ANY suggestions?
Great video!
Great Vid. thank!
Nice video man congrats i like the way you work
Can you explain how to disconnect the fan control unit? It's really being difficult.
Thank,I am taking my in for service.
A good video
Glad you think so!
Do I need to lift the car up to get to that bottom piece? I don’t have anything to do something like that
Very good
Awesome videos! Would you kindly help me locate ect sensor on my Mercedes Benz c230 sport 2007. It is likely causing my car to overheat
Hi Limon, we would be happy to do so. Please shoot us an email at service@fcpeuro.com with your VIN so we can assist further!

My cooling fan bearing is gone - is there a way to only replace the bearing or it's always getting a new assembly in?
Hello, usually the main fix is to replace the whole assembly. You may be able to take the whole unit apart, but that would require some digging to see which bearing is needed, along with a supplier who offers it.

GREAT VIDEO...THANKS FOR UR TIME. DID U DISCONNECT ANY OF THE BATTERIES IN ORDER TO DO THIS WORK INVOLVING ELECTRICAL PLUGS?
Hi Lincoln Vlogs, glad you like the video. It is always a good idea to disconnect the battery when doing any electrical work.
Why don’t you show how to take off the coolant fan tabs?
Looking for a video on how to change a radiator fan mercedes B 200 W245
Hi Pauline! Unfortunately that model was a super limited release in the US, and !we wouldn't have acces to service instructions for it or a model to shoot a DIY on. Sorry about that!
What about when the fan is spinning, wobbling and making noise???
Hi. W203 C200K Model here. Just replaced my fan. The fan spin very slow and does it requires to do re-setting? Or the fan is like 'plug and play' kind? No resetting to be made after install? Please advise. Thanks.
You will need to compare the speed of the fan to what the ECM is commanding the fan to do. The fan assemblies are all plug and play
Do cooling fans have relays? I have a 2006 C230 and it’s overheating and AC is also not working, I’m not sure if it’s the cooling fan or maybe a relay somewhere. Thank you in advance.
Hi Willie, cooling fans do have relays and that could be the issue!
FCP Euro I found the fuses and relays diagram but the relay diagrams are not labeled so I don’t know which relay is for the cooling fan.
Do you know where the fan relay is on th c300 2008 w204
I have a tempature light on the dash key on engine off or on fan goes full speed 2008 clk 550
cool
Why do you think the fan is bad.
I have a c63 w204 I want to make tha fan work on high all the time whats the best way thanks u

I have a 2005 E320CDI, and have to replace my fan. Will the CLK230 fan fit the E class car? They look the same.

No fan and no coolant = no cooling system = overheated & possibly damaged engine. Hope you got that fixed...
Nice video, please can you help me purchase a genuine ,c class c280 2006 cooling fan?
Hello Seth, we'll be happy to help you out with that. Please email us with your VIN - products@fcpeuro.com and we'll send you over a link for the correct fan.
i just purchase the exact model fan would it fit my clk 350?

Great info. Great video. Saved me thousands of dollars. In this time thousands of dollars feels like a million. 2024. Vote TRUMP
When can you do mine? HAHA!!
Ok...I got it...Just get a new car...
