- This might be the most innovative airframe yet - meet the Elixir aircraft from France. They will tell you everything behind the concept of this modern airplane.
Do you have more questions? Leave them in the comments and I'll try to get some answers in the next video.
Thanks to the FSV Stockerau (www.fsv2000.at) for organizing the demo flights - and thanks to Elixir Aircraft for showcasing this plane.

These are some if the best interviews om learning alot thanks!!!!!!!!!!
would love a comparison with the bristel b23 turbo and the robin dr401 and diamond da40
Beautiful and docile bird 👌
very interrresting video!
Seems like an incredibly tough and resilient aircraft, in another video it was said that the wings could withstand 50 tons. It could probably withstand 15+ g forces, it should be certified as an aerobatic.
does the canopy have any uv or ir filters in it to stop the heat and fading ?
Very helpful. This is a cool class of aircraft. Have interviewed Magnus fusion 212?
Would love your opinion on the fusion 212
Alright!
I am 2 meter in height and has a long over body is this plain good for tall person
Which one you liked better: the Elixir or the VL3?
any chance you can do a blackshape prime/ tarragon?
I'll see what I can do :)
Needs a 916is
Appreciate it if no music added. Thanks
nice bird :)))
I thought it was a tomahawk evolution.
you MUST---please make a cover like this with a pistrel virus..........pleaaase !
😅 I'll ask them!!
Looks like an updated MRC............
🤔 MRC?
The three blade constant speed propeller and the air intake look like a Heinkel...
The price makes the Elixir innovation uninteresting.
I admire anyone who speaks multiple languages... Bon!
That said, I am completely exhausted trying to get everything English that filters from the very thick accents. Hopefully there will be other Elixir reviews later.
Merci for the tour. Bon vol!
The prices are 300 and 400k for the 2 engine options. Way back they touted one shot production so it would be much easier to build than traditional but now it's the most expensive LSA. So they certified it as CS23 to pretend it's more than it is and justify the very high price. It's double the price of an FK14 which is slightly faster and weighs a lot less than this plane.
And they like to compare to the Cirrus because that is super grossly overpriced again to justify their inflation. They don't want to compare to any of the LSAs. Don't support this plane. We don't need higher prices.
Well, no. First, it's 150k€ VAT Free, it's just that you need to remove options instead of adding them (mainly avionics) to make it Day VFR. Secondly the FK14 out of the box is 138k€ without a parachute or any safety feature already built into the Elixir, which would make them equally-priced real fast. Thirdly, the POH consumption rate for both of them, SL, ISA, 114kts is 12,4L/H for the Elixir, 17,5L/H for the FK14, and 18,5L/H with the 10kts advantage you like so much ... and finally, what's the maintenance price for the FK14 regarding the airframe ? ...
@@alphajet2145 FK14 is composite, I assume there is no maintenance on the airframe. You can protest all your want, Elixir is simply grossly overpriced and it's especially despicable when they touted single shot as a way to improve cost. May they die well.
Gogetair just launched a model that should put elixir in its place as well. As well as numerous other brands. Not that it's genuinely cheap, it's just not as unambitiously priced.
4 years ago the plane was advertised at 150 TEUR or 170 TUSD for the small engine 912is . 180 TEUR or 203 TUSD for the big engine 915.
At the air venture 2022.. The price for the small 912 was 299 TUSD. The big 915 was 399 TUSD.
Let's check the 2023 prices...
@@cb1p111 AOPA July 2022 : 282 000€ for the 915 (big engine, IFR, VAT included) does not correlate with any of your unsourced numbers.
@@alphajet2145 the 300 and 400k are from elixir representatives. it's real. although seemingly in constant flux. mostly upwards. hopefully they have a bud light moment of clarity.
your prices are unsourced. and wrong. IFR instrument addons don't cost 150k in any case. Instruments are also grossly overpriced but not that much for small planes. they are happy to let their greed scale with the price of the plane even though it's the same instruments.
It is disappointing to see such uninformed comment. When discussing price it is not helpful in the automotive sense to relate price differences between a Rolls Royce and a Toyota. Likewise in aviation. A glib comparison between aircraft without comment on equipment levels IFR / VFR certification and other paramaters such as the relationship between take-off distances to 50 ft and cruise speeds at 75% power are totally without merit. It is unnecessary and unhelpful to name names. What would be helpfull would be to sight expanded performance details between aircraft under comparison, as would useful loads with similiar fuel loads when using a similar engine. Is it relevant/helpful to compare a 2 seat 100 hp Elixer to a 180 hp 4 seat 180 hp Diamond DA40?
4th Generation?? I would say it is still a 3rd generation (composite). And I am not sure why he says he does not like "very much Elon Musk". Not a smart comment for an interview related to aviation, in my humble opinion. The plane looks cool, but seems a bit too pricey for what you get in return (or don't get).
That's his opinion,
still he quotes Elon Musk...
What's funny is your last name sounds like "glueing" good for aviation.
he explained it : 4th gen is a "pack" : no carburators engine + full composite airframe + one-shot parts and very very few parts / über-simple maintenance + a complete pack for the security active and passive : parachute, one-circuit for the fuel, anti-movement of the fuel+ anti explosion, anti-jump of the gears, and stall-resistant wings.
The dude doesn't "like Elon Musk very much", yet quotes him and says he really likes Tesla. C'mon!
300K ++ No thanks.
I could not care less there are no ribs in the wings and it can carry 15 tons, or even the cruise speed. The biggest engineering challenge right now keeping the industry back is cost, at $3,400 K price you are not going to sell many. Some companies are trying for under $100Gs. Definition, what is engineering, it is to do something for $3 that any idiot can do for $10.
The best selling airplane is a million dollar Cirrus. If Elixir is good and can build them they will sell, even at a high price.
they sold hundreds of it already... if someone can do this exact features ( low consumption, ultra durable, ultra low maintenance, ultra reliable and safe) for 3x less : great !
WOW, I know I am in hot water here, but his english is just plain painful to try to decipher. Only could list to a little(even with closed captioning on) but seems fascinating.
Imagine comme ça serai pénible si tu avais dû apprendre une autre langue pour le comprendre...
Innovation? Where?
any other airplane of less than 600 parts, with 90% of the airframe in 9 pieces ? with this ease of maintenance ? stall resistant ?
i get it : there is no fancy gadgets or cool velocity-like airframe or disruptive electro-hybrid feature.
