I am a piper guy through and through , got my private in one and lots of my GA experience was in one. I got my instrument and commercial in a Cessna… have flown lots of other aircraft’s since those days but needless to say I took a da40 up for the first time yesterday. This plane is awesome… it instantly topped my list for its class of aircraft. 9/10 - only took away one point as taxi at slow speeds is odd due to the nose gear, feels like a tail dragger. On top of that, getting in is slightly awkward at first. Besides that amazing aircraft
@@genxpilot69 It just takes the Flight Director V-Bars in a 7.5 degree Nose Up Position. Also great for a normal Take Off, so you have a reference not to overrotate the plane.
I absolutely agree. The DA40 NG is my favorite airplane which I love to fly. The FADEC, Jet Fuel powered engine together with the G1000 NxI makes it the perfect aeroplane for personal use. In summer, I also fly IFR. Unfortunately there is no deicing on board but it should be possible to install a TKS System. If you have the extended Baggage Compartment there should be enough space for a TKS-Fluid reservoir. What do you think ? Together with a stronger Alternator for Prop-Deicing it would be the TOP ! And here is my question : Is anybody out there who knows about the Performance of the Tundra Star ? How much percentage in TAS-Reduction do you have to take into account for the large and unprotected tyres?
I would like to know real world performance numbers. Not book numbers but real world. I learned to fly in the old 80 horse DA and DV 20s from the 90s. This should be a familiar feeling airlane. They were a blast to spin. Thank you.
Love this plane. Im just getting ready to get my ppl and found a school with diamond to attend. I love this specific plane bc the tail number has my initials. Lol
@@steinachu1The 40 and 20 fuselage is made out of Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic. The 42, 50 and 62 are carbon. I’m assuming it’s to keep the cost down.
Actually, this aircraft doesn't meet the FADEC requirement: need backup batteries for both of ECUs. Only 1 connected with ECU B. And one other thing that I don't like is Austro don't retrofit their engines anymore. So it's hard to find someone who can do the 1000hr overhaul for legal requirement.
It sequences the flight plan to the missed approach portion, moves the flight director bars up to a proper climb attitude. If you click it on takeoff, it will just out the flight director wings at the climb attitude for you to use as you climb out.
air conditioning is a cool idea. I’d feel better if it hat a redundant second alternator as if that failed you hav3 less that 30 minutes before engine failure as the FADAC fails.

We appreciate that, we'll keep it up! 😊

Excellent review of the NG - as an owner, I can attest to everything said here - it is an amazing plane.
Couldn't agree more!
What does the go-round button do?

Great video ! Could you talk a little bit in detail about the prop governor in this plane?

Love the DA40, one big drawback is the lack of room for the taller pilot. At two meters I just fit but it lacks comfort.
Yeah it’s generally just not very comfortable compared to others in class but it’s actually a joy to fly unlike a 172 🤢

I wish the da40 came with better colors like the da62!
it's not carbon.
@@royalewithcheese25J really? I thought all the diamonds were carbon !!

Well, the A/C is quite heavy and it needs some space !!! On a small Aircraft it's a factor
I'm 6'4.5 feet, do you think can I fit in
There is a bubble canopy option you would have to purchase. I don’t know how much they run for.
You missed fuel economy. MPG
Huh, they did. Mostly Ultimate Guide I guess
@zachclayton4137 at 8gph at 10,000 feet you can get almost 20gph.
