Not gonna lie this is honestly a game changer for the simple fact that it has a charging dock that stands. I will forgive them for the roccat air RGB wireless
The charging station is the sole reason why I still use my Astro A50s. It never runs out of juice. Even my Arctis Pro Wireless headset would power down when I swapped the interchangeable batteries. I commend Roccat for developing a charging station, brilliant stuff, and I can't wait for the updated A50s to release after seeing how awesome the new A30s are.
I just bought this headset and have been using it for a few days now, this has one of the best out of the box sound i have heard in a wireless gaming headset. The comfort is also spot on, dont get any irritating pressurepoints on my head like i did with the Corsair Virtuoso (not the XT RGB, the first version) or after long sessions like with the HS80. The basestation though... it drives me insane that this is so poorly designed. The width between the recessed holes that your headphone is supposed to rest in while charging is way too small. Its not even close to the natural width of the headset when i take it off, it should have been made several centimeters wider and not slightly angled towards each other like they are now. In order for me to get it to charge, i have to fiddle around with the headset and get the left earcup properly down on the pins, while the right has to rest outside the recess its supposed to be in. Super annoying for one of the best features this package has, especially when the rest is very good.
Thanks Techne, always nice to see you give Roccat and maybe some of the lesser well known brands some love. I honestly feel like Roccat puts out some really solid products , I may be a little biased because i use a Roccat mouse, but i wouldn't use it as my daily if it wasn't good.
I agree that Roccat doesn't get much traction. Another brand that I feel gets overlooked is the RIG series. There isn't many major headphone reviewers that pay much attention to them. I bought the newly released RIG 800 HS's with the basestation, and they are definitely a worthy headset.

I was planning to buy the Penrose on sale for 229€, but after watching this video i´m not so sure anymore. This is the first wireless headset im buying and i plan to use it primarly on PC, Switch and Steam Deck, for gaming, also gonna use them to watch series on a tablet. Im just not sure about one thing, do the Roccats come with an USB A dongle? Or do they just work with the dock? In that case i would have to connect to my devices other than the PC via Bluetooth, that would not matter to watch series but, would the gaming experience on the Steam Deck/Nintendo Switch worsen? (I only play shooters/competitive games on the PC, so i don´t think the high latency would be a problem there, im talkin about the sound quality in general), sorry for the long text. I understand the Penrose have slightly better audio quality while the Syn Max Air are more comfortable, (i also know all the issues people tend to have with the Penrose). So, taking all that into account, which headset would you recommend me for multi-device use? Love your vids, have a good day.

Do you plan on reviewing the new Logitech G FITS - true wireless gaming earbuds? They have some really cool features I’d love to hear your thoughts on before ordering. Thanks! @the techne
The rgb looks pretty dope but after a while it gets kinda bland and even though it looks cool on the headset you won’t be seeing the rgb most of the time so that stinks. Software looks easy to use not too difficult. The fact that it doesn’t translate over to console well is definitely a deal breaker though sadly. I assume the audio isn’t anything special since u didn’t bring it up much but yea for $250 that’s a nice headset. The metal headband and all that is really nice as well. Seems like one durable headset. After playing around with my Arctics nova pro tho I gotta say the plastic portions feel really durable. Thanks for another great review and can’t wait for what’s next

I know you probably don’t use them much but some of the people with laptops only may want some recommendations for gaming so they can plug in all their peripherals. Also if anyone has recommendations for Hubs let me know. Thank you and great video!
Pleather ear pads are cool and all but the fact that they're not going with mesh for the headband is a big turn off for me as a pleather headband will not last even with the cleanest of hair! If HyperX can't get it right, no company can! Steelseries/Astro headbands material is what's needed on this to make it a must buy! I made the mistake of purchasing the Hyperx cloud 2 wireless, not because it's a bad headset, it's pleather! Just can't deal with a material that perishes so quick.
Planning on get a new headset for my ps5 after having the same ones for about 5-6 years. I’ve heard good things about turtle beaches stealth 700 gen 2 max and the steelseries arctis nova 7p wireless. Your feedback/ recommendations about these or any other headsets will be appreciated 🤝
Better to buy hifi headphones. For like 500 bucks. Audio quality much better. And then buy external microphone for few hundred and you got ultimate combo.
I bought this for Xmas, are the lights supposed to stay on when it’s charging? The different color lights came on for light a minute and right now no lights are on but everything is plugged up. Is this broken you think?
Turtle Beach owns Roccat!!Crazy they would have same features 😂 Also these headphone companies needs to stop with this $250. I would buy a separate mic and normal headset save money. There getting ridiculous!!
Sadly the product seems to be a dud, mine and several other people experience random disconnects from the bay station causing the headset to be unusable until you either pair to a bluetooth device or flash the firmware. Charging from the dock is also faulty and does not work at all even if the LED would show it. Specifically if you have the external power plugged in for the charging without your PC being on (Main selling point) it would not charge. The review is accurate in regards to build quality and coolness an audio etc... but there is either a bad batch floating around and sadly has left a nasty taste in my mouth , sad to see one product put me this off of buying another from them.
Do not buy this faulty product! The charging station doesn’t charge and the headset disconnect intermittently that i need to unplug/replug the USB cables 3-4 times a day. The support team tell me they cannot help me with that as i cannot “prove” their product is faulty.
Just got these 3 days ago.. and taking them back.. waste of money... Swarm is very limited with options and that is even when they are working properly .. sometimes I have to unplug the base and replug it in just to get this headset to connect again.. sound is meh.. bass is good but the rest is crap.. I bought these to replace my 6 year old Logitech Artemis Spectrum's and they fall very short.. my Logetch's are 7.1 channel and blow this ROccat away...
I've had their previous gen headset. Looks nice sure, but is not that comfortable for those who prefer over-ear headsets like myself. The worst aspect for me is their software which often fails to connect, install or both. I'm not keen about buying this headset even though refunding wouldn't be an issue here in Europe.
I purchased these headphones, they are awful. The microphone crackles loudly when putting it up and down, the voice over when turning on/off takes about 20 seconds to run through all the "announcements", they turn themselves off if they don't get any sound for a short period of time even if connected to bluetooth. Roccat also admitted the crackling noise was a fault and have been getting the run around on getting them replaced for about 2 months....avoid like the plague
Do not buy, it is not worth your money. The stand is very impractical and ineffective. You have to struggle while the pins line up to charge the headphones!

This is the worst Roccat headset ive ever owned and i've had a few. The docking station is the worst POS ever! you fiddle about with placement just so it sits correctly to charge, its not truly a wireless headset as you HAVE to have the docking station connected to your computer at all times so if you have a laptop guess what, you're tethered. Turtle Beach owns Roccat!!Crazy they would have same features 😂 Also these headphone companies needs to stop with this $250. I would buy a separate mic and normal headset save money. There getting ridiculous!!
Damn i got the syn pro air still
The max looks better
Anyone can confirm if dock can be plug into wall? Dont want to use pc USB.
Honestly how this is better than the a50 ? For me that price tag doesn’t make sense
when did he ever mention the A50?
Exactly, cause if he mention this whole video doesn’t make sense.
Looked good until I saw those hinges. Smh. Same reason I stay away from Arctis.
nah these hinges are solid here
I purchased these headphones, they are awful.
👌🏿🔥
After 2 months of use, I can honestly say that these headphones are a waste of money! I wish I could return them !
Do not buy, it is not worth your money. The stand is very impractical and ineffective. You have to struggle while the pins line up to charge the headphones!
Mic plug is so weird :/
Would you recommend this headset over steel series pro wireless nova?
i have the same question
Man, right now with them at the same price (my last video) I would go Nova Pro, but at regular msrp I would go these
@@TheTechne what msrp means?
@@rolandsl97 Msrp mean full price or market price. The Price when the product come out is Msrp.
@@rolandsl97 msrp is manufacture suggested retail price, which means "regular price". what techne means that while nova pros wireless are on sale as the same price as these, go for the nova
Is it really pronounced like 'rocket" and not like 'roe-cat'? Learn something new every day
lol, man I was the same, till IU got to talk with one of the founders face to face, and he confirmed it's rocket like elon musk/nasa rocket
@@TheTechne the cat logo doesn't help either haha but thanks for the video
Hi techne I'm goin to pass on these because there mostly for PC and I play a lot of sports games MLB show Madden 23 NBA 2k 23 PC doesn't have no sports games that's why I have a ps5. but people people if you want the best console headphones go with the astro a30 wireless headphones they blow the 700 stealth turtle max out of the park the clamping force on the max 700 is stinking stinking terrible way too tight there made for a little kid try the astro a30 for ps5 or x bone x you will love them and the battery Life is awesome you will thank me latter
320$ canadian. YIKES. thats the problem with these headset/peripheral companies. Heavily pricing their products but putting shitty components in them. That mic is not a 300$ headset mic. its just not good enough. and it sounds like a 50$ headset mic.
The connection when switching it on is the most jarring ear piercing crackle of noise after each pointless thing the voice says "Power on" BAM! "Connecting" BAM! "Bluetooth connected" BAM!! like who designed this its awful?
worst headset i have ever used lmao. the audio quality is so damn bad Edit: My bf fixed it for me :D
how did they fix it?
Is there any audio lag via Bluetooth that would be a disadvantage for competitive FPS?
yeah, all BT audio devices have a slight delay
