Yeah wtf. I thought the Arctis sounded good, better than most other gaming headsets I had heard. When he started talking on the Corsairs, I thought he switched back to his professional mic, that's how good it sounded
@@Kannolias using the Xbox wireless dongle, I promise you it is. You may be thinking of it’s Bluetooth. Also, make sure you are not listening to the new max version as it’s mic is worse than the older non-max.
CORRECTION!! THE CORSAIR HS80 HAS 50MM DRIVERS, NOT 40MM! I have owned or used all 3 of these, well, the Arctis Pro, not the 7, but they're al solid headsets. I'm currently using the HS80 and I gotta say they are my favorite headset that I've owned. They get incredibly loud, like I never have to turn them above 50%, but with the other two, I could turn them up to the max just fine. The HS80 also has the best microphone of any headset I've ever used, wired or wireless. It's pretty incredible how good the mic is for a wireless headset. The build quality on the HS80 is the best of all three BY FAR. They have a metal band and metal hinges, and they are very sturdy. The Arctis unfortunately has a design flaw that make them break a lot easier than the other headsets. I love my Arctis Pro, but they are fracturing in the same spot that everyone's do because they have a design flaw that Steelseries refuses to fix. The Corsair HS80 has the best sound imo, with 50mm drivers and a frequency range of 20-40,000 so they are also high-res certified. The surround sound on the Corsair is excellent as well, better than the other two imo. They also come with Dolby Atmos, which is a nice little bonus. The Corsair HS80 has a 10-band EQ and you can switch between 6 different EQ presets right on the headset as well. I can't stress enough how great the HS80s are and if you want an amazing mic then it's definitely the best choice of all 3.
hi, i'm almost buying one of these, can u tell me how is holding up today after 2 years? Do u still use it? How is the construction, battery and do u still thinks the sound is great?
I got the HS80's coming from the Voids, could not be happier, Atmos being a huge plus and really good sound with a bit of tuning as this can be subjective, no rattling no distortion, amazing mic even in wireless, super comfy and I don't have the smallest head, the range is ok, picks up even on my ground floor, will rate 8\10
@@kaant21 Had mine a while now, still going strong, no issues at all. Battery life is definitely close to 20 hours for me as i charge maybe once a week and use them each evening for 3 -5 hours, i do have the RGB off though, not like you can see it yourself anyway...
I personally bought the corsair hs80 for my birthday in early november, all thanks to your review. I've been loving it so much lately, mic is phenomenal same for audio, thank you so much techne!
@@TheRealPunisher Yeah but its actually like 12. I've got mine set so when I take it off for a few minutes maybe to do a phone call or go eat, it automatically turns off, and that does save me battery.
Recently picked up the artics 7 + thanks to your review of them. Previously was rocking the Corsair Virtuosos for a bit, but they were uncomfortable. They sounded amazing, but I couldn’t manage to make them comfortable. Thank you for your great content!
@@iSyre They’re both really good, but I don’t think the virtuoso’s are worth the price when companies like Beyerdyanmic make such great headsets even cheaper. But the beauty of the HS80 is that it’s built-in microphone is absolutely phenomenal, it’s literally better than a LOT of external mics that sell for $100+, and the sound quality competes very well with similarly priced options from the aforementioned beyerdyanmic. You really couldn’t go wrong with the HS80’s. They’re built great, great sound, have an amazing microphone, and affordable. Especially right now, I just checked and they’re selling for $115 right now. At that price they’re really hard to beat if you’re just buying them to use as a gaming headset.
Been with the HS80 now for over a year, of which the purchase was guided by Techne's videos. Absolutely no qualms with it, aside from lasting durability of the ear pads. The fabric eventually started to separate from the back of the ear pads. A little hot glue fixed them right up, in a more permanent way. Great sound in game, or while listening to music and also just a STELLAR mic.
@@nickcampbell2222I bought the new razer blackshark v2 pro (2023) did i do a mistake or should i have bought the corsair hs80 or the steel series nova 7x
@@krymox4461 it depends what you want it for. Tbh I wouldn't be able to help you with a choice without trying all of those. I stand by the hs80 but you will get another headset eventually right? 😊
As you've mentioned, it really boils down on which features and advantages that you need or want. These 3 were definitely among my choices before I bought mine. And I bought the Arctis 7+ for the things I need and want: * Build - much solid build for me compared to the Blackshark, and I am not that delicate on my things haha * USB-C dongle - I can use it on my mobile phone/Switch when I travel * UBS-C charging port - fast charging, and almost all of my devices use USB-C * 30 hrs battery life - I don't charge my headset everyday, but I only need to charge it around 1-2 times a week * Overall sound - I play more competitive games, and the customized EQ settings are saved on the headset * Software - the app gave me better customization with the EQ for various games that I play, tho it can actually be used by any headset * Minimal mic but still accessible - I use a separate mic on a boom arm when I game, but I can still use the retractable mic for work or zoom calls on my phone At the end of the day, you can never go wrong with any of these 3 headsets as long as you know the features you need/want, and do your research well. Another great content, good Sir! Keep it coming!
I own the Arctis Pro (better version of the 7+ with high-res audio cert) and all I can say is that I hope you got an extended warranty if you don't absolutely baby your headsets. Steelseries has some planned obsolescence in their headsets in the form of a design flaw that causes them to break far sooner than they should unless you really baby them, but even then, they WILL break on you no matter what. The hinges are sitting in a thin plastic shell and that casing cracks on EVERY Arctis headset, just go on reddit and search "Arctis broke". I bought a 4-year extended warranty for my Arctis Pros for that reason. I have really babied mine for 2 years, but I notice that mine have the exact same stress fracture now that happens to everyone's Arctis headsets, even though I made sure to always pull on the band, not the earcups, when putting them on so I put the least amount of stress on the hinges. I would not recommend supporting Steelseries until they stop with their anti-consumer practices. They are well aware of the design flaw but refuse to fix it because they know most headsets will break just outside the 1year warranty window and then you have to buy another pair. It's really messed up that they still refuse to simply add some rubber or metal to reinforce the hinge area even though there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of complaints about this flaw online.
@@jamesw657 this is what steelseries has been doing for past 10 years. I owned siberia headset, siberia v2, and siberia heat orange cus they were the standard for CS back in the days, but they all broke after the warranty ended. Seems like the usual for them.
I tried all three of these, they were all great but I had countless issues with static and connection drops with the steel-series, super unreliable. The Hs80s were really good but on some songs and situations the bass would rattle and it would sound awful. I found that the middle ground was the black sharks and their connection is really good with out the bass rattle and they’re super comfortable. Even though it’s not usbc realistically you don’t need to charge it that often so it doesn’t bother me.
@@b1gd312the default mic settings make this mic sound horrible but the mic on the blackshark is actually very impressive once tweaked properly in the eq. The downfall of the blacksharks at least in my experience are the forks that hold the earcups they eventually wear out and dont hold position.
@@b1gd312 i was referring to the blackshark having poor mic quality out of the box i should've clarified that. The hs80s i dont believe you can tweak but it doesnt need it the mic quality is amazing
Did you have some static sound in the background of your HS80's? Whenever I'm listening to noise in the headphones, I hear a white noise static sound. I'm leaning more towards buying the Logitech G733 because I hear they're a lot better for the extra $20.
blackshark v2 pro , and ive been through all of them. blackshark weighs the leas , doesn't look bad with the classic aviator style, has a detachable mic, and that volume knob is way too convenient
@@Lyons_welders yea id definitely reccomend them. The v2 pros are my daily drivers and I’ve owned and sold / returned the hs80 and arctis 7+ they’re kinda ass compared to the blacksharks
@@Lyons_welders the mics fine, but you wont have the options to customize it on synapse like on pc. the mic is detachable so you could always just get a standalone mic and plug that into the console, which is preffered anyways since most headset mics are not gonna be as good as a standalone mic
Tried all of them. Blackshark V2 Pro is the best in terms of sound, aesthetics, and build quality. Of course, you could make the argument that the HS80 has the best microphone, but nowadays, people like investing into better microphone gear so I make use of my condenser microphone for outgoing audio. Some EQ settings for the blackshark V2 pro that I personally like: Bass Boost - Off Sound Normalization - On (65%) Voice Clarity - Off 31Hz - 7 63Hz - 5 125Hz - 4 250Hz - 3 500Hz - 2 1kHz - 4 2kHz - 1 4kHz - 5 8kHz - 5 16kHz - 8 Keep your system audio at around 60-80% and you're good to go. Enjoy!
@@KhalidBaz hey man, on pc with these eq settings, the blackshark v2 pro can’t be beat for me. However, if you want a pair for the PS5, you’re better off choosing something with a dac like the steelseries ones as they have built-in eq.
As far as the Arctic go you need to order the velour ear cups directly from steelseries. Makes them as comfortable as Astro A40/A50. The complaints about the artics are real. I’ve got a small head and got pressure headaches from them. The default ear ups are terrible. Get the velour ones, you won’t regret it.
@@thewilltoplay7988 They let in slightly more background noise but nothing too serious, just means you need less side tone to hear yourself speak and they breathe better. As far as direct sound from the speakers go, i havnt noticed any difference. The difference in comfort is night and day. The shipping cost more than the new cups. I paid around $40 aussie dollars in total. Let me know how you go with them if you decide to purchase:)
been using the blackshark v2pro for nearly a year now. all i can say is that you can use these headphones anywhere. i've used it on my phone wirelessly(using an otg 90° angle), on my tv and pc. It also has a 3.5mm jack. the hinges are still good up until now and i've banged around a few walls while wearing the headphones because sometimes i forget i'm wearing it. it still works and in good condition after using it semi-roughly for 11 months.
I used the original kraken 7.1 usb for 5 or 6 year since I was in high high-school and they tanked everything. Got a cooler master mh 650 coz the pleather on the Razer started peeling. They broke in under a year of light use as I’m in uni now. I want the V2 pro but I’m a bit hesitant about the adjustment mechanism for longevity. Option 2 is maybe spending a bit more for the Epos h6pro (I don’t need wireless)
@@kiar007 the adjustment mechanism on mine is still fine and it Isn't lose. Since i share the headphones with my little brother, we adjust it all the time, so far the headset's adjustment is still tight (not too tight).
I loved the black shark v2 pro. I’ve returned 3 pairs because the software is broken. Sidetone doesn’t work also when you mute or unmute there is no sound.. Razer software has been broken for months with no response from the Razer team. For that reason alone I would probably pick one of the other options. Thank you the great review.
@@mahdisarrami9904 So just because you are not experiencing it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. You can google to see many other people are having this same problem. But you are lucky to not be having this issue.
I actually just bought the Arctis 7+ a couple of weeks ago after watching your review (one of the few people that reviewed the + !). For me it was really between the Arctis 7+ and the Blackshark V2 Pro as I do not really like the design or the flip to mute of the HS80 and I don't like icue since the more recent update. I was using Blackshark V2 wired before that and LOVE them so almost went straight to the Pros but decided to do a little research for my first wireless set. Your reviews helped a lot and ultimately I picked the 7+ due to the USB C connectivity and thought Sonar looked fun. My ears stick out so the ear cushions were too shallow but I picked up some Wicked Cushions (the cooling gel type) and now they're super comfy and sound great. Your review makes all 3 sound so good though that it makes me want to just buy the other two also lol. Thanks for the video!
how do you make them sound good that he same headset that i had before and the i just got the 7+, the 7+ makes things like footsteps sound horrible and i hate watching videos with them because of how bad the quality is
The HS80 have 50mm neodymium drivers and not 40mm drivers. Also, the driver walls are angled so they match the shape of the ear. I have big dumbo ears. My ears never touch the driver walls of the HS80. Super comfy. Amazing sound. Mic audio is amazing for wireless. I've played all stinkin day on my day off and never had an issue with batterlife. Granted, I keep the LED off and volume at around 60% in Windows so that helps with power consumption. I use a V shaped EQ. I use them for Bf2042, BF5, WoW, and Rust. Phenomenal sound. All day comfort. Best headset I've owned. I have the arctis 3, Razer Blackshark V2 Pros and Baerdynamics DT770 pro 250ohm headphones. HS80 are still my all time favorite for everything.
HS80 for me - comfortable, excellent sound with dolby atmos, and if you put in a bit of effort tuning the mic with voicemeeter best headset mic out there - sounds almost as good as my Rode Podmic - and thats really an achivement...
I've got HS80s, Astro A50s, arctis 7+, arctis pro wireless, and turtle beach gen 2 600s. I benge watched this channel and figured I would just slowly collect my favorite headset that he's reviewed and I would rank the A50s and arctis pro at about the same level but the pros have it all I love those Bluetooth and 2.4. the HS80s are so close to being just as good as the rest, all it needs is Bluetooth and it's the go to headset
I think you can help me then! I have a wired Hyperx Cloud II which I really love for about 4 yrs I think, and now I'm looking for an unwired headsets. I'm looking for a good headset model that works with mobile devices/consoles (xbox, ps, nintendo)/pcs being wired and unwired. Does any of your tests attend that? lol
I love my Blackshark V2 Pros. The biggest thing I love about it though is that 3.5mm port. If my headset dies, I just whip out the cord that comes with it and plug it into my controller and be good to go. If the HS80 had that, I'd probably prefer to have that one. Great video though!
I just thought I’d throw in my 2c here. I got the MH 650 just under a year ago. USB coz I’m at my desk most of the time. I chose them coz I feel their mic quality was ,for lack of a better, word “perfect”. The mic picked up everything down to my beard but my friends always said that even at max volume on discord and in the software that I was hard to hear. Sound quality wise they were really boring (in my opinion). Just very very very flat. Playing around in the eq didn’t help as it didn’t increase bass but drop the other frequencies making it sound like muffled. Out of the box the sound is clear and easy to pick up directions. They broke after a fall from my chair onto soft rubber floor(40cm) (screws sheared the plastic straight of) thankfully is was within the warranty period so I sent it back. In hindsight I’m going back to Razer or senheiser for a bit more Umf and less plastic. For context My previous pc headset were the original kraken chroma 7.1 usb bla bla bla Bass (IF YOU CRANKED IT )was overwhelmingly, like more my ears would wobble then anything (fun trick to show friends). Besides that the mic was really really good. They never broke after but after 5 or 6 years the pleather started coming off and messing everything in black smudges so I got the mh650 I’m still looking for something with as good a sound quality as my Bose qc35 but with an actual mic and smidge more bass (not as much as the Sony xm5)
If I could have the HS80 mic on the Arctis 7 that would be my ideal headset. I was going to pick up the HS80 until I wore them-they just aren't comfy for me in the least.
The ear cuffs on the black shark v2 did press hard on my head and were bad to wear longer than 30 minutes. I ordered 3rd party replacements from Misodiko (the only company that has ear pad replacement for this headset). My ears don't get as warm after 1+ hours of gaming and I don't feel that pressure on my head anymore. And yes... I do have a larger head, my football helmet was wider than most helmets if that helps give perspective. With that said, after replacing the ear cuffs, I give the headset a 8/10 for $100 or less range. Something I've had trouble getting used to is the button placement on the headset. I find myself often searching for the buttons instead of being able to find it fluidly or after 3 seconds of feeling around.
Awesome review. I’m leaning towards the Corsair HS 80 headset because I have the Void Pro Surrounds, and really like the earcup design and comfort. I also like the thumb wheel volume control, and the auto mute mic. Plus, the mic sounds absolutely amazing.
I’ve always said if you’re someone like me who only cares about directional sound like footsteps and being able to hear them well left, right, above, behind etc then no matter which headset you buy, even the most expensive ones you’re going to hear footsteps from around 28-34 metres in games like Warzone. Of course louder the headset gets, louder you’ll hear the footsteps from whatever distance you’ll start to hear footsteps with that headset. I’ve been using the Astro A20 and they’re amazing and definitely punches above it’s price tag. I used own the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless and they’re amazing, because of the higher frequency response and how loud they get and combined with being able to adjust your EQ via the dac, those footsteps are super loud. It still makes no difference to tue distance, but Arctis Pro Wireless is one of very few headsets you can hear footsteps from around 34 metres away in Warzone. I stopped using the SteelSeries, because 2 of them went wrong and drivers stopped working or disconnecting. After plenty research and speaking to people and SteelSeries, it turns out the problem was listening to them at max volume which eventually causes something to disconnect in the drivers from the vibration max volume causes, which defeats the object selling a headset for £300 that can’t handle max volume. However, I recently bought the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless again and I seriously didn’t realise how much I was missing. Perfect EQ adjustment to my ears and loud volume, everything including footsteps are so loud and precise. I’ve learnt to adjust the EQ to accommodate lower volume at around 80% as I don’t want to experience the same defect by listening to them at max volume. At 80% it’s still louder than pretty much all other headsets.
I have a facination with all things audio, especially headphones. I own all three of these headsets, by far my favorite out of the three is the Blackshark V2 Pro. On a side note, I just took the plunge into Audiophile grade equipment and took your advice on the ifi Zen dac and amp and havent looked back since, its on another level. Thank you for all the amazing videos bro. Cant wait to see what kind of goodies we get this year.

@@doki-_-7002 Unfortunatly I have not had a ton of experience with HyperX other then what you already have. I do know that HyperX has some of the most premium build quality for the price that I have seen. I would say that I enjoy my Blacksharks more then the Cloud Alpha, but everyone's ears are different and we each have our own likes and dislikes when it comes to sound. The best thing you can do is try your friends headset on and see if you like them better then what you have.

I bought the HS80. They're solid. Had to take out the band because I have a fish bowl for a head but they fit perfectly after that. Awesome that I was able to take it out.
Had the steelseries pro and loved the comfort and sound was best out of the 3 but being a couch gamer the pro wired was just a bit of a pain with the dac. The Corsair I couldn’t deal with the sound or the fit on my head due to larger earlobes. The razors were an okay headset the fit out of these 3 was prob in second place but the sound just sounded way too muddy for me. Now if you are an Xbox player yea I’d go steelseries 9x since the 7x has been discontinued. However I took your advice and bought the penrose x and put those gel wicked cushions on them and man the sound is like no other gaming headset I’ve used and the mic I have gotten nothing but compliments. So out of these 3 I’d choose steelseries 7 if I had to choose between the 3 if ps or pc playing and none of these if on Xbox.
Got the hs80 a few days ago on sale for £99.99 on spring sale, upgraded from the void as didnt like the fact the voids had micro usb or how loose they were on the head and got to say im blown away on the mic quality and sound on this headet and how comfortable they are love them great all around headset
yeah, no matter how many headsets I test and it's been at least 7 I'm always coming back to Blacksharks. Great overall sound, very light weight and perfect fit. I also like the volume knob. I have it set to a certain level and when I power them on it's always the same. That's why I'm not a fan of continuously scrolling volume wheels.
I'd like to point out that maybe not at the time of making this video, but at least NOW the Corsair HS80 headsets do have 50mm drivers, and not the 40mm as described in the video at 7:00
I think the Logitech G733 deserves to be compared to this badass headset roundup, especially since the Corsair HS80's shape was clearly inspired by it.
gotta say, this man has gotten me obsessed with steelseries headsets, i just got a pair of arctis 7+'s and i am absolutely loving them. every gaming headset i have used doesnt come anywhere close and i dont think im gonna upgrade for at least a few years
Arctis 7+ all the way! i had the 7 for like 5 years and it was by far the best wireless headset i have ever had! just got my 7+ and now im waiting for em to be delivered..im excited!!
@@Sulto_ I really like them. I don't like that settings don't save to the headset. If you are ok running the software that doesn't matter. I have a piece of electrical tape around the mic light since I don't want to run the software, my only complaint
i have absolutely no experience using the razers or the corsair headphones, but i love the quality of the steel series. My only gripe with them is that long usage of the Steelseries hurts my ears a fuck ton with them resting on the drivers for so long, but the quality of the sound is great.
Thank you so much for doing something like this. ESPECIALLY getting into specific gaming genres! Sorry I just asked this on your Kaira Pro PS5 post, but am I right that you never test with Tempest on PS5? Do you personally prefer NOT using Tempest? What are your preferred audio settings on the PS5...3D Audio On/Off, Linear PCM/Dolby/DTS)?
I use the Steel series. I had a connection issues when I first got them but after updating them my issues have been minimal. They sound fantastic. Not quite as much bass as I prefer but tuned very well. Have tried the other two. I miss my 700HX THOUGH
Thank you for this video! Based on it and couple of others I have tried these exact headsets in this order: 1. Corsair HS80, 2. Razer BlackSharks V2 Pro, 3.SteelSeries Arctis 7. I say "tried in order" because 1st and 2nd I have returned, now I am using 3rd ones and hoping these are IT for me. With Corsair, I found them to be too tight on my head giving me a headache and an ache behind my ears where they pushed in too hard. Mic sound and headphones sounded good. With Razers - oh, they were SO comfortable, so light on my head I almost didn't feel them, but the mic issue was bad. I sounded like I was in a tin can through discord, fixing the settings didn't help. With Steel, I was very hesitant because I was afraid they wouldn't be comfortable, but they are! Very light on your head, my ears aren't hurting. Now I just need to test out how I sound to others and hopefully they will be the winning set!
i plan to get the white blackshark v2 pro for the audio but MAINLY for how good it looks i was a long time steelseries arctis 7 user until they broke on me so i’m used to the sportsman like material for the earcups
Arctis all the way! I tried the Blackshark and it was already pretty nice, but the sound quality wasn't really a step up from my 6 year old Creative Fatality (think it's Inferno now). It also squished my head. The arctis is perfect for me- the strap headband applies pressure evenly, they don't press hard on your head, the mic (and noise cancelling software) is excellent, and the sound quality (and software) is on par with and above the Blackshark and Creative Fatality. The design is also really cool imo. They're awesome.
I’ve had all of these and I liked the Arctis the best. But now I use the HD 58X and the Elgato Wave 3. Love them both. :-) Enjoyed the video as always.
I just made the purchase to get the cloud 2 wireless based on your review vs the blacksharks. I have the wired cloud 2’s and you can’t beat that competitive sound they provide
I just returned that headset, I liked the sound but it was very uncomfortable for me. It felt heavy and it hurted my ears after using it for a couple of hours
@@thainoodleboii damn that’s really suprising. I’ve been using the regular cloud 2’s for years and had no complaints with comfort to each their own I guesss. What headset did you end up with?
Just picked the Penrose X... best purchase ever! Sound quality is top notch and I've had zero issues with connections or interference as people often point out. Only complaint would be the stock cushions being too shallow and gettinh hot pretty fast, but I plan on changing them soon for some gel wicked cushions and that should be fixed.
Passive or noise cancelling is also important to me and very rarely mentioned in gaming headset reviews if at all. I think it is a very important subject to be considered, and also wear and tear is a big thing too, but I get you don't have to live with them mostly only what you pick for few month to be daily driver.
Thank you for another amazing video, I literally couldn't decide which headphones I should get as you keep on switching between the pros and the cons of them. I think all of them are great after watching this video. Thank you for your effort. I will catch you in the next one!

The Techne and everyone else who can chime in: A Question for those who have gotten burned by several reputable headset companies. Due to how everyone designs these things with planned obsolence, I've gotten increasingly disenchanted with the two-in-one mic headsets. Have you encountered any sub-$1k sets that have decent sound and hold up beyond the warranty period ( when lucky)? Every pair I've owned has either had one side's speaker go kaput, or the housing above one ear will snap (with no tightness in the fit, like a minuscule amount of torque just make them snap) -- after the first set, had always been careful to avoid putting torque on any one place. I cannot be the only one to contemplate getting a higher end pair of cans like the higher-ohm Beyerdynamics (among other brands) and couple it with a desk-bolted mount with a headphones amp and DAC to accompany my stereo as needed. Nearly all coverage is steered toward the wireless solutions aside from a few niche creators. I love your enthusiasm, but can't help but feel left behind by the main trends due to a terrible string of bad luck. A person can only deal with so many RMAs followed by the replaced equipment suffering the same fate. I've dug through forums and have a short list, but getting some feedback from folks who might have experience across the spectrum is always welcome. Apologies for the not-quite-on-topic query. Cheers and keep up the good work.

They are Completely wireless with USB-C charging for 30 hours of solid use. and connect directly to Xbox One/series S/X so you can turn your headset on and it will turn your console and TV on too with just one button press on your headset if you have your console settings turned on to do that. Shit I even love using them gaming on PC with Dolby Atmos since that included free lifelong ONE TIME payment forr $15 is included for free to use on up to 6-7 devices. So even if you do pay the $15 it is totally worth it since both of my Xbox One X and Series X both use Dolby Atmos, my 2 laptops are automatically defaulted to Dolby Atmos and my 2 desktop gaming PCs (which are using my Microsoft/Xbox account when I sign on to game pass Ultimate to begin playing a game on Xbox and then continue where I left off on PC, and sometimes even play my Xbox Series X straight from my iPhone or Google Pixel 4a if I don't want to be stuck In front of a TV but still want access to my entire console showing on my screen... are attached so of course even my daughter gets to use Dolby Atmos on her laptop while she's listening to Music or playing Roblox since she's on my Microsoft family and all you have to do is download the Dolby Atmos app to change if you want it optimized for a specific speaker set-up, or change different speakers to act as different positional sounds no matter where they are located, or of course put it into Gaming mode so it gives you the best situational sound like foot steps and...and shit even just watching UA-cam videos on my iPhone 12 (only the newest like 5 o 6 iphone models have Dolby Atmos capability, but it's unreal how someone making a door knocking sound on a video that is in the background and it sounds exactly like it's someone at your actual front door that I've literally had to remove the headset and check everything out. The craziest thing is I fucking hate all of these gaming headsets that are beginning to cost more and more money, with less and less physical quality (since most Turtle Beaches are usually all plastic, but I bought these before Covid as it was finally a wireless headset specifically for Xbox , that lasts for 30 hours of charge, can be charged to like 45% battery charge in just 15 minutes on a USB-c fast charger. Not only all of that but actual thick blue cooling gel for your ears and great for people who wear gaming glass with headsets...AND has Bluetooth 5.1 where it will autoconnet to my phone the second I cut it on....or if I'm in my Game room with the Xbox then they will connect to the Xbox One Series X AND my phone via Bluetooth at the same time (and the customization options the mobile app let's you change is great since it saves any changes you made when you turn it off and use it without connecting to your mobile device with the TB customization app. (I personally made the female voice where it announces when Bluetooth connects, when it's connected to your Xbox, the battery level (low, medium, high...or you can just look at the phone app / Xbox Screen at the top to see the battery percentage bar) to where the slider volume for her voice is ever so slightly on so it's enough to hear calmly without startling yourself. because there nothing more terrifying than turning on a headset and having a lady scare the shit out of you with her notifying you the power level remaining, Bluetooth connecting... pairing etc. Microphone is fold down design , but folds up into the frame of the headset so it's completely hidden and turns the mic off when folded in and turns it on when you fold it down. Plus has several functions so you can hear your own voice through these cans so you can find out what you sound like without asking people etc. (You can obviously turn this feature off and has several other mic settings that can be changed one time on the phone app and then you never have to pick up your phone and mess with these settings each time..it's one and done. Or you can always use your phone as a quick and easy microphone sensitivity/voice party chat volume changer as well as a quick volume changer as well as pick one of about 5 different functions to bind to the "mode" button on the headset itself so you can make it toggle on ,"superhuman hearing" on/off or bind it to where it switches you from in game chat to party chat so if you're in an Xbox One party chat you can swap back and forth between hearing everyone in your party (and adjusting their volume) to switching to in game chat to speak to your Squad on Fortnite or something. easily with just a single button on the headset that you can bind to many different things. But I'm on my 4th damn pair, They have All broke right at the swivel point since it's the thinnest part of each side as it turns into a circular cylinder shape so you can take your headset off and put them on your neck with the ear pads facing your chest.(little less than a 360 degree turn). My first pair lasted an entire year with 0 issues , but I fell asleep with them on and apparently I must violently toss and turn in my sleep since I woke up and the left ear piece was hanging on by just the wires (and still working completely fine haha) but it has snapped right at the swivel point. So I went to RMA them and it had literally been a year and 3 weeks since I had ordered the pair from the Turtle Beach website....so they denied my RMA as it was 3 god-damn weeks past the 1 year warranty even though they included every day from the day I ordered them online to now.... instead of maybe starting this time when you physically receive the headset at your home. So even though it took 2 weeks to get to me and then Turtle Beach had to release several firmware updates for the headset to fix several Bluetooth issues and quality of life functions (as I literally bought the very first shipment of the Stealth 700X Gen 2 when they first came out so had to patiently wait for them to push out 2 big firmware updates that you have to plug them into a PC to update them to the latest firmware...but long story short I only had about 8 months of use instead of over a year as I didn't even open them immediately and when I did finally open them they sat around while I waited for those firmware updates because they were released right before most people were able to start getting their next gen Series S/X consoles. Basically if someone could make a frame like a HyperX Cloud 2/HyperX Alpha or even something like a Steelseries 7x or 9x frame (as the Steelseries has very similar functionality like the swivel ear pieces) and somehow figure out a way to attach the left and right earpeices from the Turtle Beach Stealth 700X Gen 2 drivers/Cooling Gel Earpads to a solid metal frame like the three headsets in this video then that would be an OP headset. I still ended up buying several more pair but just make sure I put them up on a stand or case so they don't break but someone should really find a way to use a Razer /Steelseries/Corsair HS70 frame and attach the Stealth 700X Gen2 headsets.
@@phlooke It's like an audio peripheral no man's land where you have lots of convenience and some decent engineering & sound absolutely crippled by manufacturing shortcuts vs. going a more expensive proven route. That's even getting hard to discern with "gaming" headsets from the traditionally premium makers wanting to grab a share of the market and having sets at a starting price point that can be crazy. Very frustrating time to want something good that will last. C'est la vie.
My two main games have been COD and Elden ring but my old turtle beaches haven’t been the best. (I play on PS5) Would you recommend the arctis 7p+ or the EPOS h6pro? I wanted to get the black shark v2 pro but I’ve been seeing that it’s not optimal for a PS5 because it’s more geared to PC.
@@kiar007 I ended up getting the h6pro open back. They work well for me for both games. If you tend to play in a busy household I’d suggest getting the closed back because you definitely will hear what is around you.
None , just replaced my G230s off eBay for $18 because I stepped on mine by accident. Just LOVE them and their 10 foot cord. Sound GREAT with a cheap USB DAC , including the mic. Can wear for HOURS and not notice them. Logitech hit a home run with these. Later versions where they changed the model numbers have inferior , shorter cord and inferior ear pad coverings. The newer models also have the inferior on earcup volume/mic control. Mine is inline. G230s for life !
If only the corsair headphone mic is detachable. Btw, i would love more brands to do multi-connection headphone (2.4ghz, bluetooth, wired) in their more budget friendly lineup
Had the Arctis 7x and recently tried the HS80, but for some reason it was uncomfortable for me, caused a pain after use on my right ear. Recently picked up the Alienware AW920H and really like them. Software is meh, but everything else has been great and has bluetooth so I can toggle back and forth and use them for work and personal.
Sorry this is a bit late but I also found the HS80s really uncomfortable. It’s not for the same reason as you but I constantly felt a ton of tension on the top of my head. I recently picked up a black shark v2 pro and I love it.
I've been looking for a headset for a while now, and after checking for weeks I still havent decided, but its actually been between Razer Blackshark v2 Pro (2023 model) and Logitech G Pro x2 lightspeed, sadly I am the person who wants it all, the razer offers the best mic obviously, because its very good, the logitech lacking a bit on mic but they do apparently win on comfort, sound is a bit hard to tell, but depending on preference I believe. Good thing about logitech is that it brings both leather and texture ear pads, but if you'd rly want the razer and you had a issue with the ear pads you could always buy the cushins you are recommending. What brought me here is actually the HS80 Wireless headset, I am tempted to buy this headset too, the good thing about this headset is that I can get it for about 90 euro, its on a discount from 150-200, meanwhile the razer and logitech is from 250 to 300. What I'm very curious about is the MIC quality on the new razer 2023 model vs this HS80, are you able to perform a test like this, I think a lot of people would be interested in looking at this, I've seen people saying the HS80 do have the best microphone out there, but this was before the 2023 mode released, but to be fair I think they are pretty similar when it comes to quality, its just a bit hard to compare them from different videoes etc. I had this worry about battery time also, thats why I did consider the Razer for its 70hrs but as you say, 20hrs is plenty on the hs80 as long as you just charge it every day to second day. I hope that you can do a test on these mics before the discount on the HS80 runs out in september, i havent found any videoes of it so far, probably because the razer is still pretty new and people didnt bother to test a old vs new, but would appreciate it!
I bought the hs80 and returned. A lot of people are having issues with the mic (me included) the quality and volume just isn’t that great. I also found them heavier on my head and uncomfortable. I might try the razer.
I've had the Arctis 7+ for about a month now, and I absolutely love it. Sound is great, it's really comfortable, mic is good, and with Sonar on PC all the presets and settings are really amazing. definitely would recommend 10/10

HI techne, so i just read about steelseries arctis pro headset and they said like " The connection itself is metal but it is encased in plastic. I had a Steel series headset previous to this one and it was the longest lasting headset that I have owned. Their build quality is sound if nothing else." so it's actually good in a long time of use.
I had my Blackshark for awhile. The volume knob is an issue. The right speaker dies and you have to mess with the knob to get it to work again. Other then that they were good while it lasted
blackshark for the best all rounder for me, music is also great with the blacksharks and don't look as silly on your head as the others. also nice and light
I think I'd want the HS80. Sadly though I also play on xbox and I'm pretty sure there's no way to use them on the system. I'd rather get a headset that I can use on everything
I was really going back to back between the hs80 and the artics 7+. I use the headset for work as well for zoom calls and the Hs80 mic is so good the 7+!cant touch it. But in the end i went with the 7+ as the other things and the sound stage was closer to my likeing. I think no one can make a wrong call on these you just have to know what you want. Thx for the review it was great.

I found Razer BlackShark V2 Pro on a crazy deal for $88 after watching one of your videos. I'm loving the experience so far. There's no way you can beat them for $88.
That is a steal for that price. Was it new? I snagged mine for $139. Right now I'm waiting to get HS80 ( coming in tomorrow ) and will decide between the two. Blackshark is still a winner for me after testing so many headsets. We'll see tomorrow if the decision stands.
I got the blackshark but they gave me headaches and ear pain on my left ear becuase of the strong clamping force. This pain would occur after about a half hour. I even stretched them out over the box they came in over a weekend but they still gave me headhaches and earpain. I do wear glasses and have a largerish head which doesn't help
Never got a chance to try the HS80 but I tried out every other headset I could find on display after getting my PS5 in December. Honestly sound on gaming headsets in general is abysmal, but I got the regular Kaira Wireless and absolutely love them for what they are. Have zero issues, just wish I could detach the mic on mine haha.
I'm really blown away by the Corsair's mic quality, I didn't know headset's mic could reach that kind of clarity level holy damn
Yeah wtf. I thought the Arctis sounded good, better than most other gaming headsets I had heard.
When he started talking on the Corsairs, I thought he switched back to his professional mic, that's how good it sounded
Is the mic test the same on console?
You should listen to the xbox stealth 700 gen 2 (non max) being used on a pc, it is even better.
@@ryanb9038 just heard a mic test and It's pretty good, above average. but your claim is completely false.

Your right . 50mm drivers ..but overall good review
@_________9996 No difference in sound quality. Wired doesn't get Dolby Atmos for free either. Wireless is better.
hi, i'm almost buying one of these, can u tell me how is holding up today after 2 years? Do u still use it? How is the construction, battery and do u still thinks the sound is great?
I got the HS80's coming from the Voids, could not be happier, Atmos being a huge plus and really good sound with a bit of tuning as this can be subjective, no rattling no distortion, amazing mic even in wireless, super comfy and I don't have the smallest head, the range is ok, picks up even on my ground floor, will rate 8\10

I'm considering the hs80 or virtuoso. You prefer the hs line? Any input appreciated

As you've mentioned, it really boils down on which features and advantages that you need or want. These 3 were definitely among my choices before I bought mine. And I bought the Arctis 7+ for the things I need and want:
* Build - much solid build for me compared to the Blackshark, and I am not that delicate on my things haha
* USB-C dongle - I can use it on my mobile phone/Switch when I travel
* UBS-C charging port - fast charging, and almost all of my devices use USB-C
* 30 hrs battery life - I don't charge my headset everyday, but I only need to charge it around 1-2 times a week
* Overall sound - I play more competitive games, and the customized EQ settings are saved on the headset
* Software - the app gave me better customization with the EQ for various games that I play, tho it can actually be used by any headset
* Minimal mic but still accessible - I use a separate mic on a boom arm when I game, but I can still use the retractable mic for work or zoom calls on my phone
At the end of the day, you can never go wrong with any of these 3 headsets as long as you know the features you need/want, and do your research well.
Shame about the mic though 😏

250Hz - 3
500Hz - 2
1kHz - 4

@jordanseymour3714 Ah ok. I don't use mic sidetone so good to know.
Not a problem on PC
To HS80 users, what's your EQ for fps competitive games? Can't really seem to find the right EQ for me
Bought the BSV2 Pro Wireless - White Edition because of your previous reviews about it. Love the style, the fit on the head, and also the BASS!
I'd choose the Corsair if I could. I would love a budget headphones version of this video including stuff like the MH630
For context
My previous pc headset were the original kraken chroma 7.1 usb bla bla bla
Bass (IF YOU CRANKED IT )was overwhelmingly, like more my ears would wobble then anything (fun trick to show friends). Besides that the mic was really really good. They never broke after but after 5 or 6 years the pleather started coming off and messing everything in black smudges so I got the mh650
I’m still looking for something with as good a sound quality as my Bose qc35 but with an actual mic and smidge more bass (not as much as the Sony xm5)
No joke, these exact 3 headphones are my choices for a while now thanks for this!
Cant wait to see what kind of goodies we get this year.
what about hyperx do they have headset to challange these? i been using hyperx as first higher tier headset and was thinking to upgrade this year. rn got hyperx cloud alpha. friend bought bsv2 for like 200eur here and he said they are awesome
@@PandaGoBoo fair point thanks for answer
@@doki-_-7002 Also, The Techne has a ton of Videos on all the different HyperX headsets, I definetly recommend checking all those out along with some of his other headset/headphone reviews just to see if you can spot any major differences that may interest you.
@@PandaGoBoo yea I been watching him for almost a year not active but now and then I check out few of videos but will see if he made some that could help me find best pick for myself
Been using hs80 for more than 2 years, mechanism is holding up better than i expected. Would recommend anyone thats looking forward to buy one.
I’ve only tried the Arctis 7 & Razer, I’d go w the Razer
Until someone has to hear the mic
I bought the HS80. They're solid. Had to take out the band because I have a fish bowl for a head but they fit perfectly after that. Awesome that I was able to take it out.
Just going to say Atmos is pretty cool.
I’ve been using the blackshark v2s for about 3 months now and there insane. Definitely would pick them
yeah, no matter how many headsets I test and it's been at least 7 I'm always coming back to Blacksharks. Great overall sound, very light weight and perfect fit. I also like the volume knob. I have it set to a certain level and when I power them on it's always the same. That's why I'm not a fan of continuously scrolling volume wheels.
I'd like to point out that maybe not at the time of making this video, but at least NOW the Corsair HS80 headsets do have 50mm drivers, and not the 40mm as described in the video at 7:00
Love my HS80 so comfy and the mic quality is just crazy
I think the Logitech G733 deserves to be compared to this badass headset roundup, especially since the Corsair HS80's shape was clearly inspired by it.
gotta say, this man has gotten me obsessed with steelseries headsets, i just got a pair of arctis 7+'s and i am absolutely loving them. every gaming headset i have used doesnt come anywhere close and i dont think im gonna upgrade for at least a few years
What do u love bout them
Arctis 7+ all the way! i had the 7 for like 5 years and it was by far the best wireless headset i have ever had! just got my 7+ and now im waiting for em to be delivered..im excited!!
I bought HS80's Pro Arctis and Astro A50's. Ended up keeping the HS80's. Price wasn't a determining factor
How are they so far?
@@Sulto_ I really like them. I don't like that settings don't save to the headset. If you are ok running the software that doesn't matter. I have a piece of electrical tape around the mic light since I don't want to run the software, my only complaint
@@BonanzaPilot thanks for replying!
i have absolutely no experience using the razers or the corsair headphones, but i love the quality of the steel series. My only gripe with them is that long usage of the Steelseries hurts my ears a fuck ton with them resting on the drivers for so long, but the quality of the sound is great.
As a gamer who games allot daily , my favorite headsets to get are the turtle beach, astros, steel series.
I love my black shark V2 X. Super comfortable and good quality sounds if you are playing call of duty warzone.
Hs80 is wonderful if you're a PC gamer with a medium head. Use ICUE onlyfor RGB settings, and DOLBY ATMOS for sound is a must.
got the blackshark for christmas, love every moment
I miss my 700HX THOUGH
which will u recommend?
that volume button on the razer is hideous
I really love the HS80 especially the mic quality was amazing.
Update ?
i plan to get the white blackshark v2 pro for the audio but MAINLY for how good it looks
i was a long time steelseries arctis 7 user until they broke on me so i’m used to the sportsman like material for the earcups
You'll love them. I've tested so many and I'm always coming back to Blacksharks. That frequency range makes the sound so immersive.
Review the Lenovo H600, they are a wireless headset for only $100. They have a lot of comfort and swivel. Usbc charging too.
I just picked up the blackshark v2 pro and bought defean ear cushions for them and they are perfect now. Stock cups were a little too shallow
You can switch the earpads? How?
@@Luis-wp3qt yes. Defean is on Amazon. $18. They have a video posted on Amazon showing how. Super simple and their replacements come ready to pop on

I just made the purchase to get the cloud 2 wireless based on your review vs the blacksharks. I have the wired cloud 2’s and you can’t beat that competitive sound they provide

Just picked the Penrose X... best purchase ever! Sound quality is top notch and I've had zero issues with connections or interference as people often point out. Passive or noise cancelling is also important to me and very rarely mentioned in gaming headset reviews if at all.
Amen. I hate it so much that I love everything about the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 G2 sound (Dolby Atmos on my Xbox Series X, PC, And phone....with Bluetooth 5.1 for listening to music or taking phone calls and can listen to both Bluetooth and Xbox One audio...even let's you change audio sound stages, bind the two separate volume wheels on the headset to adjust Xbox One sound and the other Bluetooth volume, or turn the Bluetooth volume wheel to where it adjusts in game chat volume /party chat)
and comfort (cooling gel ear pads so no sweating swamp ass ears after long Xbox/ gaming sessions.

None , just replaced my G230s off eBay for $18 because I stepped on mine by accident. Just LOVE them and their 10 foot cord. Sound GREAT with a cheap USB DAC , including the mic.

Steel Series for me can be wired and wireless and the flexibility is the best
I dont like the fact that the mic is not detachable or retractable, but for sound & mic quality I pick the HS80.

An In-depth review, quick, efficient, and supportive. This I can tell is an amazing channel. Subbed 👍
Blacksharks for me. Mostly because the mic doesnt pick up background noise and thats crucial for me.
Corsair Virtuoso XT still great. Thanks to your recommendation!
If the Blacksharks and game/audio chat mix and USB-C it would hands down be my choice.
Most of tech reviews chose the Black shark V2 so I decided to get one and I have no regrets.
Just bought SteelSeries Arctis Pro with Gamedac combined with Dolby Atmos for headphones and it is the best, unmatched for gaming!!!!!!
i cant choose , my head hurts
Can't wait for the Hyper X Alpha wireless to come out so you can review those ;)
I think I'd want the HS80.
Good choice I have 2 arctis series and love them. Plus the HS80 look stinkin' weird LoL
@@JamesS777 my only issue with the 7+ is that the adapter shape is not the best. I have a macbook air with 2 ports and if i stick this in it covers both of them. Other than thet i like these a lot.
@@janokid023 I myself do not own a MacBook Air, but I have found that there's always one thing with each pair of headphones that's just not exactly perfect, but it's usually pretty dang good!
I've also found each headphone does something better than the others. Although there are good all around headphones they still seem to all be good at one thing better than the other.(mic,FPS,music,Bluetooth,
controls,software,
comfort level, noise cancel properties, quality, adapters, etc) Thank goodness the competition is really up there now, there fighting for the consumers money
I got the HS80 & they are amazing with build quality and sound

I found Razer BlackShark V2 Pro on a crazy deal for $88 after watching one of your videos. I'm loving the experience so far. There's no way you can beat them for $88.
That is a steal for that price. Was it new? I snagged mine for $139. Right now I'm waiting to get HS80 ( coming in tomorrow ) and will decide between the two. Blackshark is still a winner for me after testing so many headsets. We'll see tomorrow if the decision stands.
@@emeresbestres1 which one did u like better and do u play on pc or console
@@Fed-uw5lx Returned them both and ended up on Sennheiser GSP 370. Love'em.
@@Fed-uw5lx I'm on PS5 mainly.
I had the Artics 7s. Bought the Razer Kaira Pro Wireless. Gotta say, Razer beats Steelseries. Nothing compares to them.
