Who is it that is constantly aware of all the active voluntary thinking as well as the involuntary appearance & disappearance of thoughts? That one, is also aware of our very existence, the "I". And is also aware of the passing of wakefulness, dream & sleep state one after the other. One who can understand this question & discover for himself that pure awareness has got it.
The “mind” is very clever to camouflage and convince that “I” am the mind. Approximately 11 years ago when “I” started meditating seriously, “I” learned that the mind is not “me.” The mind had no choice but to expose itself to “me” for its own preservation but my goal is not to eradicate the mind, “my” goal is to tame the mind, the ego. “I” learned that “I” am not the mind immediately when “I” first started meditating very seriously. Has anyone else experienced this?
@@FabSia I can’t tell you exactly “how” it happened because I don’t know. I can only assume the mind felt threatened and exposed itself in an attempt to save itself. After many years of meditation, the mind has settled down significantly.
If you are in right earnest to learn the mysteries of God, He will send you the Satguru, the right teacher. You need not trouble yourself about finding out a Guru. He who can himself approach God with sincerity, earnest prayer and deep longing, needs no Guru. But such deep yearning of the soul is very rare; hence the necessity of a Guru. ~ Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa (Sayings, 695, 696)

How did that happen?
