lemme just clear something up. the corner double crossup i used in round 3, was in fact, brand new, at that time. I discovered that trick a week before evo and kept it secret til then. no one on srk knew about it. its bs if people think that setup is old, cuz it wasn't. the other stuff was week 1 shit, everyone knew it. i just had it all spaced just right that night to make it harder to see.
@Charles Brown i didn't. Monitor was laggy, so I did not have faith in linking s.lk into heavy dp. So I went for s.lk into ex tatsu. If my s.lk combos, all good. If not, my blocked ex tatsu keeps me safe. Unfortunately that blocked s.lk did not build enough meter so it gave me mk tatsu instead. Still safe on block, but valle was going for an interruption. He clearly wanted dp into super, mashed a little too early so only super registered. Rest is history
Gr8 moment, Sakura's juggle reset confused the hell out of Valle. Great performance by Sabre the setup is really risky against Ryu but he took the risk.
its a double crossup trick. It doesn't work well on the female cast(as i learned vs marn afterwards). after the ex hk, you do a j.rh, late in your jump. By the time you hit with j.rh, you are already on the other side of opponent. I land before the opponent and i can choose which side i want to be on. The setup was only a few days old and evo was the first time i unleashed it to the public. Luckily, i had the timing down on shotos with it. It's different timing based on the character
You beasted this match Sabre... I started to play with Sakura just becuase of your matches with Gootecks and Valle alone! They are very respected players but that mix up w/ Sakura caught them off gaurd... Very nice work sir....
the tv on the stage was different than the asus gaming monitors that were used on all the other stations. those were lagless. the tv wasnt bad. but it was there enough to throw off tight links.
just to iterate, the super wasn't spammed. Valle was going for a reversal DP xx Super. He was banking on the chance that i would NOT combo s.short after the short hurricane kick. if you look earlier in the match, he tries to DP after short hk each time. Had i not comboed that s.short, I would have lost the match. I wasn't terribly confident in my linking abilities since the tv on the stage lagged a little bit.
sigh, you dont understand whats going on im afraid. he doesnt get a dp cuz i COMBOED the s.short. . he was going for a reversal dp after the short hurricane kick, looking for the gap where i have to do a strictly timed link combo. i comboed the s.short(where he was trying to dp and hoping i would fail the link so he could get the free counter), so obviously he never got dp, and its too fast to react to whether or not it came out and stop yourself from doing the super motion followup.
@wildreams He didnt stop his combo, he was trying to link a lk tatsu after the standing lk but it whiffed...and because Valle must have been mashing DP out came his Super going under the tatsu.
on that final round i'm kinda curious as to why sakura's j.rh crossed up once, but didn't cross up the other three times, it doesn't look like you walked forward or had any better positioning than the other times.
@azn80149 Of course, resets aren't combos so you just have to guess right and block correctly, or reversal with an invincible startup move. In SF4 resets are harder to trick people with, because of the game speed.
s.short into rh hurricane kick rarely combos at that range. the first hit of the hk has to connect. i knew that the hk wouldnt combo, i just want to make sure i stayed in his face and keep the pressure on. plus due to the tv and what happened vs gootecks beforehand, i was not confident in doing short hk, s.short, fierce dp. The hk was a much safer option, Plus I was hoping for the s.short to give me enough meter to do ex hk instead.(i hit forward+rh buttons at the same time), so i got rh hk
its the mix up, he has an option of a cross up, clk, grab, a juggle and the chance of dashing under the other player for a cross up that way, so it just got in his mind and messed him up really.
@trunksbrief1 Actually, thats exactly what beginner's luck is. The new player's refusal to conform to the conventions already set by the people who know what they're doing results in a completely different playstyle that can catch even the most skilled player off guard. That doesn't mean a flowchart Ken is winning any tournaments soon, however.
also, to add. he didnt dp cuz hes not a spaz. dp doesnt always work. is it risky for sakura? of course. but the scrubby auto correction dp crap in this game doesnt always work. also, the corner crossup trick was unknown to everyone. i came up with that trick a week before evo, and that was the first time unleashed on anyone. and that mixup is very hard to get dp's on. alex thought it was better idea to guess right blocking and regain his superior spacing game. but he guessed wrong
ok. do this. google search "sabre vs valle ustream" and check out the ustream evo stream footage of the match. you can clearly see valle precisely doing every move. theres no mashing. hes just reading me correct and punishing any holes i have in my gameplan. maybe where you are from, mashing dp's is common and people get away with it all the time, but at high levels, precision, timing and cold calculations is needed.
@SaBr322 There is something I have always wanted to ask, in the second round where you stopped your combo and tatsued over ryu's super, was that intentional? or was that a coincidence?
@supbabys530 never said double crossups arent new, i would be an idiot if i said that =). i just said that specific mixup was new, and that it was a double crossup
@nainqx Thats the whole points of resets lol, its all about tricks and have a game plan, problem whit that its that its useless once its figure it out.
@BStokes06 I duno... Capcom might decide to be mean to Sakura and give her the crossover and improved projectile game she need, but remover her reset and mix up. But I haven't seen anything saying that they removed them so I guess shes good!
I would vote for this as match of the year, but I paid for IGN Insider SPECIFICALLY to see Wildcard vs. Socal and it was the only match out of the 5v5 that they didn't have.
SaBre's gameplan was very risky as well though. SaBre could have gotten SRK reversal'd into oblivion if he was unlucky. Those resets can be a real gamble.
thejunkman: that reply just shows you do not know what valle was going for. you still think it was all about the super.. since you cant see what he was going for, ill tell you. he was going for dp xx super after my short hk. the problem was is that i comboed my s.short after short hk. he was doing the dp motion at this point, by the time s.short hit, he was already inputting the super. its really obvious. the entire match he was dp'ing me after a short hk, it was no different at the end
lol you cant mixup blanka, no matter what side you go to, your reversal is always d,u+kk. there is no guess work on your behalf. so its pretty obvious why you cant do it to him. again, hes not mashing dp. he literally dp'ed after every short hk i did. some times he won, sometimes he traded, sometimes my s.short beat it. as for the dp at :28, he just predicted a hole in my poke(most pokes are unsafe in sf4 due to short blockstun). valle doesnt mash shit, to say he does is rather insulting
it wasnt a mash, any pro player knew exactly what he was going for. unfortunately for him, my s.short comboed. i already explained the situation on why it wasnt a mash. if you watch the entire match, you can see his gameplan after every short hk, the matrix one was no different. any pro can see that. not a mash at all
He can't get DP's out when she does here mixups. Even if you mash EX dp's. Sabre times his links with no errors. The Sakura chain is blockable, you just need to guess right and just trying to DP out of it is a scrub move for serious.
Nope, they just guessed the correct side, if they are incorrect with which guess you will land on, then a light medium or fierce punch will come out instead, which are beaten by Sakura's lk. Also, Its best to buffer a throw break into your lk as they are coming down, as in hold down and press lk + lp.
Im here for my 4th year anniversary of hearing that guy yell "is dat Magneto!?"
lmao i'm glad for this comment cuz i had my volume down and woulda missed that
Sanford

sick
I still don't understand it. How was it done differently?
Just gave you your 100th upvote on this comment! :D
@Charles Brown i didn't. Monitor was laggy, so I did not have faith in linking s.lk into heavy dp. So I went for s.lk into ex tatsu. If my s.lk combos, all good. Did u purposely use medium hop over the super!? Dat was sick
is dat magneto!?
"IS THAT MAGNETO!?!?!?!" hahaha. Sabre's mix ups are incredible.
"It feels great when you can pull off combos just how you imagine 'em."
I love the crowd's "OHHH"s it gives me chills for some reason lol
Nice match! Like the best match ever in the history of SFIV lol
When the student has surpassed the master.
Sakura dodged that Shinkuu-Hadouken like the matrix.
Gr8 moment, Sakura's juggle reset confused the hell out of Valle. Great performance by Sabre the setup is really risky against Ryu but he took the risk.

Amazing sakura mix-ups by Sabre... Pure Awesomeness
You beasted this match Sabre... I started to play with Sakura just becuase of your matches with Gootecks and Valle alone! They are very respected players but that mix up w/ Sakura caught them off gaurd... Very nice work sir....
Every time SabrE resets Valle from an ex-hurricane kick, Valle has to guess which side SabrE will attack next
Que Hype foi o SFIV
Saudades...
Bro, you seriously went all out on that one. Awesome combos man.
Some very cool, maxed out playing.
I'd like to fight you with my Vega.
5/5
the tv on the stage was different than the asus gaming monitors that were used on all the other stations. those were lagless. the tv wasnt bad. but it was there enough to throw off tight links.
I remember nearly falling out of my chair when I watched this on the live stream!
SAKURA FOR CURLY MUSTACHE TIER
Curly Mustache Tier!?!?!?! Crying grown man tears over here!
Still very classic xD.
just to iterate, the super wasn't spammed. Valle was going for a reversal DP xx Super. “ Is that Magneto ! “
Love that guy
Great memories with this game mehn that’s was the best years of my life
Yes, it's just deciding which way to block that's the problem... That's the definition of a 50/50 mix up. Pick you posion basically.
@wildreams He didnt stop his combo, he was trying to link a lk tatsu after the standing lk but it whiffed...and because Valle must have been mashing DP out came his Super going under the tatsu.
False.
Hello.
"IS THAT MAGNETO?"
hahaha
Perfect win quote about combos.
@nobusinesshere its the time the j rh hits. if it hits a certain time, it crosses up, if it doesnt, it looks like it will but it doesnt
The student has become the master....
on that final round i'm kinda curious as to why sakura's j.rh crossed up once, but didn't cross up the other three times, it doesn't look like you walked forward or had any better positioning than the other times.

In SF4 resets are harder to trick people with, because of the game speed.
so are those LKs after MP blockable or not 1:26 - 136
You can block combo resets...
it's just a matter of guessing where the opponent's going to strike next.
s.short into rh hurricane kick rarely combos at that range. the first hit of the hk has to connect. i knew that the hk wouldnt combo, i just want to make sure i stayed in his face and keep the pressure on. plus due to the tv and what happened vs gootecks beforehand, i was not confident in doing short hk, s.short, fierce dp. Lol at Marn yelling "Is that Magneto?" (Sounds like him at least.) Lol.
Idk where you get all this footage but I thank you
does the damage scale go back to normal everytime she resets the combo?
Yes
Jmcrofts brought me here
The thing is, with that reset game, it's PURE guesswork for Valle. He was either a) extremely unlucky or b) read by Sabre like a book.
no way, my faith in sakura has been restored!
I hope she still has her reset and EX mix up game in SS4.
its the mix up, he has an option of a cross up, clk, grab, a juggle and the chance of dashing under the other player for a cross up that way, so it just got in his mind and messed him up really.
love this match. Wish the vid had the commentary though
Classic 😂😁👍🏻
This video is the definition of shenanigans.
how do you get hit by every mixup
@trunksbrief1 Actually, thats exactly what beginner's luck is. The new player's refusal to conform to the conventions already set by the people who know what they're doing results in a completely different playstyle that can catch even the most skilled player off guard. Yes they are
I know your comment is 9 months old, but that's Valle, not Daigo xD
Definitly a EVO moment nr.xx in my book.
yeah we heard you the first time when you posted this.
ok. do this. google search "sabre vs valle ustream" and check out the ustream evo stream footage of the match. you can clearly see valle precisely doing every move. theres no mashing. hes just reading me correct and punishing any holes i have in my gameplan. maybe where you are from, mashing dp's is common and people get away with it all the time, but at high levels, precision, timing and cold calculations is needed.
Match Of The Year!!!

@supbabys530 never said double crossups arent new, i would be an idiot if i said that =). i just said that specific mixup was new, and that it was a double crossup
@TPHxItachi cause, you know, Valle's not an "advanced" player right? /sarcasm
@nainqx Thats the whole points of resets lol, its all about tricks and have a game plan, problem whit that its that its useless once its figure it out.
Why cant he block ?
@BStokes06
I duno... Capcom might decide to be mean to Sakura and give her the crossover and improved projectile game she need, but remover her reset and mix up. But I haven't seen anything saying that they removed them so I guess shes good!

This video is the definition of shenanigans. I lol'd.
@SakurasOtoshi
That's the sole reason I go to Evo. :) The chills.
SaBre's gameplan was very risky as well though. SaBre could have gotten SRK reversal'd into oblivion if he was unlucky. Those resets can be a real gamble.
great match. sakura has some nasty combos !!!
1:43 It is magneto
thejunkman: that reply just shows you do not know what valle was going for. you still think it was all about the super.. since you cant see what he was going for, ill tell you.

Legendary
it wasnt a mash, any pro player knew exactly what he was going for. unfortunately for him, my s.short comboed.
i already explained the situation on why it wasnt a mash. if you watch the entire match, you can see his gameplan after every short hk, the matrix one was no different.
any pro can see that. not a mash at all
SICK!!!!
How did Sabre not win it all lol, i was at evo and was so drunk i slept through the 5 on 5's i was pissed.
That medium hop over the super tho
lol I remember watching that on the livestream, Valle was just sitting there laughing while getting pounded on.
Sakura
sabre the beast....is unleashed
What's up with valle getting bodied by Sakuras
That was amazing. I don't know what else to say, lol.
Nice match!
its a link i think and he prolly failed it
I find this match entertaining
@SaBr322 that was nuts, fucking beastmode. watching your shit was what got me into sakura
Sabre also reps az aka my home state
Damn!!!! I didn't know Dark Sakura was in this game.
lol @ is she magneto?
I miss when we were just coming off of 3rd strike and people played SF aggressively instead of waiting around to ultra people
He can't get DP's out when she does here mixups. Even if you mash EX dp's. Sabre times his links with no errors. The Sakura chain is blockable, you just need to guess right and just trying to DP out of it is a scrub move for serious.
exactly, sakura switching sides is crazy, u can only guess most of the times, even pro have problems with that, v fun to watch tho
it though that set ups at evo dont lag
@SaBr322
You the best. I like your cody too :D
3rd round the only hit from Ryu was a fireball, and that was because it was mis-timed. Total domination.
Alex was just mentaly broken by the end of round 2. He didn't even see that crossup.
Lol god damn 1:40 so great lol
Nuts.
ohhhh gotta love the fuckin resets... Sabre PwNs
Nope, they just guessed the correct side, if they are incorrect with which guess you will land on, then a light medium or fierce punch will come out instead, which are beaten by Sakura's lk. Also, Its best to buffer a throw break into your lk as they are coming down, as in hold down and press lk + lp.
@SaBr322
that makes your combo there even more pro ^^
I didn't know pros used Sakura.
shit happens when you've got 50/50 situations, sabre established a patern and then changed it to throw valle off, very tight strategy
Holy Shit! Sabre man! Craziest Sakura ever!
Sabre was the underdog here
