  • Dave & Kurt spoke on the phone after Cobain arrived back from Rome in March of 1994. This would have been one of the very final times, if not the final the two would speak.
In this video i detail a time where Dave Grohl and bandmate Kurt Cobain would speak for the final time. I go in-depth on the events surrounding this time providing my own insights based on the research i have done.

Grohl said that to him a year (i believe) before from the actual suicide, when he went with Courney , after finishing a tour, to Las Vegas and got hospitalized because of a overdose (When Dave called him, he said "i dont want you to die, ok" and Kurt answered him that it just was a mistake, too much alcohol mixed with some drugs, "it'd never happen again")

Don't forget to mention the fact that Courtney love, just 10 days ago before this, flew to London to watch Smashing Pumpkins, and bang Billy Corgan... yep on Kurts birthday. This is when Kurt immediately called his lawyer and said to cut Courtney out of his will, and file for divorce. just put together the puzzle and it all makes sense.

I think that is not entirely fair. Yes, his dad was emotionally absent and abandoned Kurt for his new family. I think Kurt got along better with his mom, but Kurt was so rebellious the relationship was strained. I think Kurt's relationship with his mom in his 20s was solid. Also, Kurt's mom adored Frances and took care of her when Courtney was unable.

I had just seen him at the Salem Armory in Oregon from the 2nd row, 5 or 6 months earlier... My friend and I played mostly Nirvana music while we jammed. We heard the news during art class over a radio. my friend and I were in a small room to create some ideas for a project, and the radio was playing.... The news came over the radio. I believe it was like 10:10 in the morning. I remember the moment my friend just dropped the magazine he was holding... (I only heard Kurts name, and Nirvana... I didnt hear the rest). with his hands held wide open. I asked "what?". he told me what I barely heard. I said, "I just saw him... wtf..." Ill never forget that moment.

A parent leaving you during childhood does really mess your head up. I'm pretty sure it's one of the main causes of my cyclothymia. Childhood trauma is the cause of a lot of mental illnesses, and I'm pretty sure that one of your two parents leaving is more traumatic than say being near a bomb exploding, mainly cus it's a lot more long term and it gives you all kinds of weird feelings about being abandoned, loving someone that suddenly leaves, makes you wonder if other people in your family will do the same. I guess it's quite similar to, but of course not as bad as being abused by a family member. But the abandonment is abuse, quite\very severe. All things like this cause a lot of negative feelings that a child shouldn't have. They're nowhere near ready to deal with them.

True. Childhood trauma and especially abandonment can create serious trust issues, an inability to connect with others in any meaningful way, and definitely can drive alcohol and drug abuse -- a combination of feelings of worthlessness, drugs, alcohol and betrayal by someone you love is sort of the perfect storm for suicide. We see it all too often in artists of all media, but it happens to average folks on a huge scale, too. If you've ever actually taken the time to look into the way our mental healthcare system works, it's easy to see why it's so dysfunctional and even counterproductive.

Shannon Murray Kurt’s dad was a sports fanatic and still is to this day. That’s all he’s interested about. Kurt even tried joining the baseball team and the rugby team for a while just so he could be closer to his dad. Donald Cobain however, was just interested in coaching sports instead of giving attention to his oldest son. Kurt always hated the jocks because of this; he felt like his father paid more attention to the jocks he coached compared to him. That’s where the song Been A Son came from btw

Kurt's dad wasn't a bad dad... he was an absentee dad. He never was there for him, not during his childhood, not ever. His relatives outside his nuclear family took care of him, but Kurt was naturally rebellious and an extraordinary introvert with extroverted methods of escapism. The only time he was comfortable was when he was playing his guitar so deafeningly loud that he couldn't hear the demons inside his mind. He was a gentle and volatile, caring and destructive, passionate and insouciant. He was a tortured genius on the same level as Beethoven and da Vinci, the latter being the only one with a mind brilliant enough to find a way to cope with it as long as he did. He would buy birds at the market just so he could set them free and watch them fly, and the next night go a dig up dead bodies to study them, then paint The Last Supper, and then work in the employ of Cesare Borgia building war machines that killed many, many people. Kurt single-handedly changed music forever. Nobody is gifted with that type of unique and powerful genius and is capable of being happy. It's sad most definitely, but it's also true. You can see the inner turmoil on his face in candid photos and that turmoil wasn't caused by anything, it was a part of him. Few people can overcome that type of pain. I don't think there's even a word for the type of pain because people don't understand it enough to define it. Thank god it's rare, but at the same time, thank god that it exist or we'd be in the dark ages for eternity despite religious oppression

close. they ran into each other and kurt asked dave how he was doing and Dave said "i'll call you later" and walked into their accountants office. this is the big reason why CL was angry with Dave because he was reaching out and Dave kinda blew him off. Dave didn't know how fragile Kurt was at that point. They hadn't seen one another for a while, they had separate buses on the tour. Drugs alienate people and worlds. Dave never did call him later and Kurt was pretty upset about it. He had even gone on a few rants about Dave which is why Courtney said on Howard Stern that Kurt hated Dave. Kurt and Dave were estranged and they weren't ready at the same time to get close again. Kurt was hurt about it and channeled his energy out in a couple Dave rants. I think from the amount of blow Kurt was doing on the European leg with the buzzcocks that he burnt his brain right into a heavy depression. I believe he killed himself as well.

Dudeman, great video and narration. I subscribed and rang the bell.
So, like most, this day 4.5.94 is like yesterday. It was also a unique time in my life having my last child on 4.1.94 it was a bittersweet end of that week.Everyone can agree on the fact that it is a tragedy. That Kurt was in way more pain than maybe anyone knew about. That, he did not want the spot light ever, I don't believe. He was just happy to play music with Nirvana and to write music. But of course, there was a huge trade off. There are a million scenarios about this and, for the most part, does it matter? I mean Kurt is gone. Like Layne, Chris etc .I too have my own theories. But, I'm not a person who looks at things face value either. Courtney has gotten the blame. She, in her defense is not to blame for everything. If she was there for him or not. Their rumours of divorce yada blah.. It is the trade off I spoke about. That your entire life is out there. I'll be honest and go on a limb. If I wanted to use my talents and sing or act, dance, I would have to also accept the responsibility of the other side of that coin and I too would use or self medicate. Without a doubt. I mean how would you cope with all of that, think about it?
What I think has no bearing, none of it was my business or anyone else's for that matter. My opinion. People should not have to "Pay" for wanting to do what they love, use their God given gifts, in abuse. If you think about it, it is legal stalking.
True fans who really "got" Kurt knows that, Kurt himself would not like or even fully accept the media attention, tours, merch, yada blah.
Just presenting my own thoughts, i'm not right or wrong. Just sharing.
I am against totally blaming Courtney though. We will never know. Okay? Seattle PD has this case locked up like Fort Knox. So, we will literally never know, unless it was confessed by whoever was responsible for killing him. HE did not do this. The evidence does NOT tell the suicide story at all. Enough on that. That too is not the bottom line. Kurt is dead, that is the bottom line. Let's honor him, and his legacy. Kurt, rest in peace.

That was really very nice , Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. I agree with so much of what you said..and you are very fair...
It's important to hear how others feel in general however in this case , one feels less alone when it's a situation that is so tragic and has many loose ends. It makes a difference , sometimes people learn facts and understand more easily from others Comments - but mostly because of the shared empathy , utter sadness, and frustrating doubts that justice has not been served.
Most importantly frustrated that it should never have happened , but it did , and we have to live with such a needless , sad loss of a sensitive beautiful soul . How many look back after and say the " woulda woulda shoulda " thing .
It's hard to believe No one saw just how self - destructive he had become and how he just could not cope. He was suffering. Drug addiction is a bitch. It must be terrible to feel alone when you're surrounded by so many people - who you thought cared about you. What's worse is having no one really there for you and then waking up out of a coma and there sits Courtney Love - pulling all the strings. Maybe she was trying hard to help him, but I think Kurt knew better and knew more that he admitted. It's very private, but one cannot help feel his pain.
I apologize for venting , and for my comments - I only meant to Thank you for yours...So Sorry.

Guys just try and try to make their dads appreciate them and if they do not--it is the end of them. I've seen it so many times. If they only knew that it was their DAD who had the weakness of character and jealousy--not them. There are horrible dads, moms, everything but no young man should hang his hat upon if his father acts like he loves them or not. DO NOT let them win. They are narcissist or losers who are jealous. Find a mentor but end the toxic relationship. FRIENDS YOU LOVE can be much more family at times than family can. RIP. Loved this guy. Dave is frances daughter and Kurt found out in Rome when he did a paternity test as the EU Laws were much quicker to get results as well as discretion and plus you could pay your way however he wanted frances off the will and cunt. Cunt knew that even if Frances was the sole heir she would still control the money so that wasn't her issue. Alot of these UA-cam people just go based on assumptions and make money out of people.

Hum,i think that's maybe too harsh on his father. I mean,he was not a child anymore,he was an adult, and relationships with parents are many times far from being perfects or what we wanted or needed it,not to mention they are a two way street.
In one of the great and complete interviews he gave in 1993,he tells about his father (that he didn't speak with, for almost 10 years)come up,in one of their shows (in 92) to speak with him, because he thought that Kurt hated deeply. According to his own words,he said to his father that,he don't hate him anymore, just don't have nothing more to say to him,and don't want nothing more to do with him. He ( Kurt) don't want that they have to have a relationship just because they are related.
In the same interview,he also says that he always kept a relationship with his mother because she was more an affectionate person, but that, they both (mother and father) bored him.
Btw,if we don't know for sure, why making a video with this title??

Actually Kurt and his father spoke on the phone before the last toor and they both told each other they loved the other. Kurt said it meant a lot to him because they hadn’t said that to the other in years.. it’s in one of the multiple books , I’ll try to track that down and I’ll post a link. Now don’t start yelling at me , I didn’t just pull that out my arse. Nirvana was a huge influence on me and I credit Kurt for inspiring me to start playing live shows ) My parents were big dead heads /hippies ( I’m from Northern California) and were always jammin so I learned to play early and my dad was always very supportive of my endeavors and would jam with me for a few hours or listen to my music and what bands I was into and oddly and unexpectedly we really bonded over nirvana. I was 10 or 11 when “nevermind” was released and I think he liked that album just as much if not more than I did. (Same with “in utero” and their unplugged album.. He loved the harmonies and said it’s like the beetle but with Jim Morrison and Hendrix all wrapped together ) He still has those albums in his rotation at 70 years old.

And the forensic, and the judge, and the cops who were there didn't see any suspect that could've been a murder. And if there was a suspect of it, an autopsy must've been done , and what did it say?? He'd been extra sensitive, depressive, he'd had too many problems all his life, he was seriously sick for years, he was heroin addict... C'mon, he was prime candidate to suicide.

@@vannabohr6277 no! this is exactly what courtney wants you to believe that kurt was this frail sick junkie who could do nothing for himself? the guy started one of the most important bands of the 90s. seattle police said "kurt gave himself a lethal dose of heroin " making it impossible for kurt to commit suicide" this i believe 100% kurt od again narcan was used (you can see the mark on his arm) it failed now up till now the story makes sense why then add a shotgun to the mix and a made up suicide note? there was at least four people living in the house before and after kurt passed 😳 money and jealousy are the biggest motives in the book for murder. to add the greenhouse did not have one single fingerprint the suicide note was literally planted courtney love is quoted saying 'i wrote it on a ihop' all the people surrounding kurt were all under courtneys heroin control all of them benefited, there was four people living in the house weeks before and after kurt passed

His final words to him were at the intervention created by Danny Greenberg at C.’s request 4 days before his death and 14 testimonies say he was totally sober that whole week, including Pat who played music with him that night.
That evening was when Grohl and Novaselic (maybe wisely?) removed the tapes per lots of people there. So they were there, Harrison has all the documentation on this too.
    Wonder what they said then?
