I managed to get two of these before Omas shuttered. They are dreamy writers with the small ink capacity being the only negative against these. Nice to see a review of one of my favourites
Congratulations. I would love to own this pen. I was collecting fountain pens back when it was first offered and I passed it by -- something I have always regretted. Getting a brand new one with all the packaging is quite a treat, I"m sure. Enjoy!
Congrats and best wishes! I purchased my 360 as NOS before OMAS went out of business and paid less than you would now because it came without the box and papers. It writes great and has wonderful ink flow for a fine nib. I understand you need a special tool to remove the nib and feed. My only wish is that it held more ink. It remaind the #1 pen in my pen box.
The very first time I saw a photo of an Omas 360, I wanted one. The shape is truly a design icon. The 360 is still on my wish list - because the prices as you pointed out are all over the place, but all of them are high. Someday!
I guess I was lucky. The pen, also sealed in its original unopened box, came up on the FPH website back in 2017, and I snagged it for their asking price of $650. I love it.
Congratulations. Excellent pen to win an auction on. I wonder if the #102 could have been the lot number for the auction? I love this model, and a fantastic color. I hope it brings you many years of writing pleasure, as it has done for me.
Omas made some wonderful pens! I own two, an Ogiva Cocktail, and the smaller version of the 360 with a cartridge. Sadly, since the company went out of business, the brand has moved out of my range. I have two bottles of Omas ink, and neither one has the dumbell, so I'm not sure what that is. Congratulations on this beautiful pen!
@@ironmic9244 yes I know. That’s why I specified new Omas. Ancora does state on their announcement of the expected opening of the Omas shop this month they want to bring back the 360. Since Scribo bought original Omas machines and dies the new Omas won’t ever really be able to reproduce the same pen unless they partner with Scribo. I’m just interested on how they would either make it their own, try to improve it (maybe use brass instead of plastic for the piston) or if they would be a cheap imitation. I’ve never tried an Ancora but I’ve seen decent things about their nibs. We will see. I wouldn’t by one before I saw a review.
@@gizmogeek23 Really?? Wow, thanks for that info. I did not know they were thinking of opening the shop. I know for years the website mentions they'll be opening soon. As of February I know they weren't thinking of manufacturing anything new, so perhaps there is old stock sitting there? That is what happened with Delta. They found some old stock just sitting there in a warehouse. Regardless, I wonder what the prices will be? The Ancoras on the website go for quite the sum. I'd put more faith in the OMAS that is under Ancora, than whatever the travesty that came out earlier this year. Ancora made some very nice pens. Like you, I've never tied them, but Santini owns Ancora, and Santini seems to take their pens seriously. I just don't think they'll be new production pens, but as you said, we'll see. Thanks again for the info. I'll definitely check them out on the 25th of July. If I sounded curt, I apologize. I thought you were referring to what came out earlier this year, and even if you were referencing those, it was not my intention to come off that way.
I am pen-jealous and truly enjoyed the detailed look at this model. The OMAS 360 turquoise fountian pen is one of my grail pens but sadly, out of my price range. However, last year, I was able to purchase the rollerball version of the turquoise 360 model that someone modified into an eye-dropper fountain pen - it works but is still not the same as the real thing. Thanks again.
I missed out on these, I loved them when I saw it in the local store (now gone). I thought I would get it at some point. But I waited too long. One day I looked up and Omas was gone..
Another fantastic review David. I like that you are reviewing pens like this, even though they may not be available right now I find them really interesting to find out what they were like. Would you consider reviewing the Pilot Stargazer at some point?
You and Iron Michael Mic have piqued my interest in OMAS pens. I am always happy to learn about pens, even ones no longer available, like it will be a great joy for as long as you have it. Mazel tov!
Did somebody say my name??? Oh OMAS, how I love thee. Let me count the ways. Ruth, you made my day by thinking of and mentioning me in the comments section. Thank you
@@ruthfeiertag MS. Ruthenium ( I hope you don't mind that nickname. I feel it pairs nicely with Ferrous) Anyways, I have always heard it as Oh-maus, or O-maus???? Hence, that is the way I pronounce it.
@@basta.dotto_ Thanks... his review makes it look nice but the body material did show a lot of micro scratches and the plastics they used seem to be on the cheep side for such an expensive pen. I still might get one
@@jeffellis662 Don't get me started on micro scratches. I have an M805 Stresemann, and there are microscratches on the barrel where the cap ends once its capped 😡
That is not the real OMAS. There is was some collab between Nahvalur and The Pen Family. I am not sure how they were allowed to do this because OMAS has not given the right to anyone; it is even on the OMAS website. Nor is OMAS in production right now. That pen the Ogiva 222 has an OMAS body and loose stock nibs they put together. Fogboot did a review of that, and you can see the absolute travesty. How they haven't been sued is beyond me?
It was a model in the latter days of OMAS. You had the smaller, more squared modern, there was a regular model (Mezzo ?), the Vintage which was larger, then the Magnum which was over sized.
OMAS had made changes to the 360 after 2010 I think it was. While still triangular the ends became angled. I can't remember if the section was also triangular or if they had made it circular. That was the 360, but the old 360 (1996-2010) had appeal and was more popular so they released the 360s that looked like the old 360 as the 360 Vintage.
Congrats 👏👏👏The pen is beautiful, and the shade of the ink too!
Eye candy works for me and sometimes these pens are available second hand. That also makes them possible for people like me.
That’s a nice score, David. Congrats!

Cool! The pen is in the shape of a Reuleaux triangle, so it should always have a constant width.
Been on vacation, so I have some fun catching up to do. That is a gorgeous pen! Congrats on winning the auction! 🥳

The 360 has always been tops on my grail list !!
It is my all-time favorite pen. Hands down the most comfortable. I could very well sell every pen but keep my OMAS, especially the 360s.
it is a lovely pen:) - a great addition to anybody’s collection!

I hope the new Omas brings back the 360. Pineider came out with a similar pen that I’m interested to see a comparison with the 360.
That is not OMAS. Please see comments below. Please be very weary and careful of that OMAS.

Could you get a Pineider Modern Times to review? It’s a similar shape to the 360 and no one seems to have reviewed it.
