I love your Podcast and this discussion about traditions, especially.
I have been screaming this idea from the rooftops and will continue to cry out for it.
Our intro walkout song needs to be “Howling for You” by The Black Keys. It’s distinctive, it’s intimidating, it’s creepy, it’s inclusive from a crowd (harmony) perspective, and it’s a song that initiates those goosebumps that are just priceless and compelling for recruits, fans, and visitors. Please consider this. Go Wolfpack!!! 🐺🐺🐺

I think that after 10 years of this, conferences are eventually going to get so big where it will ultimately collapse and we go back to regional conferences with like 12 teams

I've been saying this for years. ESPN and Fox cannot sustain such a trajectory evident by Disney, owner of ESPN, cutting back. Plus the schools that usually make the playoffs may not be able make the cut, which won't bode well with the fans. For example, if the SEC is guaranteed 4 spots in the playoffs, what if UGA, Texas, Missouri, and Ole Miss make it, leaving Alabama out? This could very well be a reality. And what if Oklahoma gets hot? The powers that be will be unsettled and changes will need to be made. I've always said Bama had a competitive advantage over everyone, which is why they were a dynasty. So Bama will bitch to the SEC (as Saban often did), and the cards will stacked (ehm, reshuffled) in Bama's favor so they can have a clear path to the playoffs. In order to do that, they have to create smaller conferences where Bama would have better odds. It's funny, Saban cried when they were talking about pods and Bama's pod included a very good Tennessee, a determined archival Auburn, and Vanderbilt. If Bama had its way, their pod would likely have included South Carolina, Miss St, and Vanderbilt. In short, there are too many good teams in the SEC and some teams used to being in the playoffs may find themselves watching them on TV. Plus, once the media money dries up, mega conferences will have to either break up into regional conferences or boot out the dead weight (shots fired at you, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Miss St.). Another possibility would be mega conference adopt the Big 12's plan of private equity to supplement revenue the media contracts may no longer be able to provide.

Ahhhh Kenton's gonna use his connections for the Wolf Howl!!! Thank you brutha! One important question, I am assuming we are talking about consecutive howls repeated for a minute or so... if so, we would need someone, cheerleaders, student section, someone to start and lead the howls.... I envision everyone, being led by the leaders, raising the double Wolf sign at the height of the howl, and bringing them down simultaneously at the end of each howl. this would basically serve to both initiate the howl and keep the timing together.... and there would have to be some organizing to get the word out before the WCU game... on forums, the Technician, etc.

Hokie here, I think our futures are tied together and my biggest worry is for us to end up having to compete with UVA, UNC and Tenn surrounding us. That much SEC all around is going to be something that is harder and harder to fight. I think NCSU and VT getting better is dependent upon not having to complete vs homestate SEC teams. UVA is really not that much of a problem but UNC in a different level than VT gives them a heck of an advantage in Virginia.

A lot of solid programs are in that range like ole miss and VA tech. @robertstwocents Місяць тому

I meant use the funds from a private equity firm to secure Notre Dame, Florida State and Clemson in the ACC. with Notre Dame included the ACC would be just as strong as the big 10.
The private equity firm would have increased the value of the ACC . The championship game and all other games downstream in the conference would instantly be more valuable with Notre Dame involved.
Private equity would supply the cash to get the ACC to the next TV contract negotiation or enable the ACC to buy out of it and start renegotiation for a newTV contract.
It’s all about money if Florida State and Clemson Notre Dame feel they can get paid more than they are right now and have the same chance at winning the league it would make sense to stay.
Private equity could also bridge the gap too fixing the wrongs done by the ACC handling of the pre-existing contract.

FSU's losing 63-3 to Georgia in the 2023 Peach Bowl is most likely why the SEC and Big 10 aren't inviting them. The Seminoles also have a 1-4 playoff + New Year Six bowl record. They beaten Michigan in the 2016 Orange Bowl. They've lost to Oregon (39), Houston (14) and Georgia (60). FSU only does well in the ACC but once they get into the bowl season, they lose. Been telling ya'll for a hot minute! FSU NEVER had a landing spot prior to starting their "bit@hing and moaning" session against the ACC. Ya'll swore up and down that FSU would not be doing this if they didn't already have a landing spot. Ya'll talked all this smack about Miami and how they'd better hope that FSU takes them along with them, etc., etc.
FSU doesn't have a choice here. They can't stay in the ACC any longer because it's not going to be an ideal marriage. It'll be like husband and wife constantly fighting and going at each other. The trust is gone between the two. They either go to the Big 12 or go Independent. FSU does have the resources/monies to buy their GOR. The issue, which has always been the issue, is that they never received any interest from the SEC or the Big 10.
Keeping that in mind, with this part of my prediction coming true, I'm going to predict something else which I've stood by since day 1. If Miami does well this season coming up and ends up going into the play-offs, you better believe that they'll eventually end up in the Big 10 or dare I even say it; The SEC? Miami is doing it the right way. They didn't pitch a stink and rub other programs and the conference the wrong way. They already have all of the necessary or desirables that the Big 10 would want in a Big 10 program. People can say whatever they want to about how they don't have good attendance at their games, don't have a stadium, how they haven't won the conference or a championship since joining the ACC, etc.
Bottom line, after more than 2 decades of not doing anything, Miami is still ranked in the Top 10# in college football brand recognition. Add that to the enormous media/geographical area, etc., Miami is in the right spot to be looked at seriously by any of the other P2 conferences. Finally, with Miami's president no longer being at the program, Fink, or whatever his name is, as he took the role of president over at, I believe, USC recently, Miami's interim president is reportedly a hardnosed supporter for the football program and wants to see it flourish like it once did. I don't think that it's any coincidence that the new president is in place, and I would not be surprised if they've already been planning in the background. Why else do you think Miami has been shelling out loads of monies in NIL deals to obtain better talent, etc.? They've been killing the recruitment lately and if they manage to obtain DJ Pickett, they'll again be in the top 5 for recruitment next year.

Grayson, NC State ain't all that. What a joke to think they would be the top program. They have had one 10-win football season in school history and it was a long time ago. Virginia Tech has 14 10-win seasons in the past 30 years, finishing the year ranked 17 times in that span, 4 in the top 10, while in that time NC State finished the year ranked only 5 times and they have never ended the year in the top 10. There is a huge difference between those programs and others, including Miami (10-10 against VT in 20 years and 15-15 in 30 years) would have a much stronger case than NC State.

It's about projection. Not where we've been, but where we're going. Across the board, (including Football) that appears to be at an upward angle

@@LockedOnWolfpack No one in their right mind would think NC State would be considered the best football program in the ACC if FSU and Clemson left. BTW, I lived in NC and I root for NCSU often and could say many nice things about the school and the football program. I'm not a hater.

The Big 10 and SEC teams aren't going to take a pay cut to add FSU or Clemson, maybe Notre Dame.
If FSU would've been undefeated in the Big 12, they would've made the playoffs.

Huh,I don’t hate State but when they do win a particular game or conference championship they let everyone know it,that they are on par or better than UNC,that in itself proves they have an inferior complex 😊

We hadn’t won a title in 32 years. How did you think we’d act? Years of being made fun of, years of frustration, you thought we’d just clap our hands and keep moving? Drink some water man
