Because I've gotten a lot of questions and comments about this recently: Nothing in this video was created using generative AI software. The script and voiceover were both done by me, a normal, flesh and blood human being. AI is an excellent tool that should remain a TOOL, not a replacement for any part of a creative process. I will never use generative AI software for my videos. Thanks!
I’m sorry but it’s stupid you even have to say that. I agree with you it’s a tool. Nothing more and as much as people think otherwise it will never replace us in terms of art. The only way AI can even make art is by referencing existing art. So without us humans, it will eventually run out of art to output. I’m an artist, I consider what you do to be art, and it pains me people first of all can’t tell the difference, and second of all that you even have to clarify.
It's strange that you even have to comment this lol. You do have a good voice for videos and I can see why people would think your voice is an AI stock voice. It's exactly the kind of voice you would choose if you wanted a male voiceover. There's a video of a homeless man with a perfect radio voice too, it's very strange to hear him talking while sat on the streets begging.
A long time ago, I played a physically (And psionically) stunted mindflayer character who had leftover bone fragments of the previous human embedded in its crippled body, and they were haunted by the former human's ghost. Though incapable of picking up on this ethereal entity, the ghost would sometimes compel the mindflayer's behavior, decisions, and actions in odd directions. It was completely unaware of this interference until a psionicist interacted with the ghost through a seance using the mindflayer as the vessel and learned that he was using the mindflayer to complete unfinished business, while also acting as a psychopomp of sorts to alleviate the turmoil of the departed. In typical mindflayer fashion of course, as soon as my character learned this, it's first instinct was to attempt to bend the ghost to its will. Eventually after a long series of escapades in sabotaging each other's endeavors, the two found something of a symbiotic bond and were conditioned into coexistence by the rest of the party, as well as the mutual adversaries which threatened them. Kinda a weird character to roleplay, but I felt like the DM understood the concept I was going for, and the pay off was satisfying once it finally developed. BG3's story kinda drove up a lot of memories of that game, even though it's kinda the situation in reverse.
I really love the potential of Illithid existing as peaceful scholars like Omeluum in BG3. In my playthrough as a Great Old One warlock my character purposefully sought them out in search of undergoing ceramorphosis but bypassing the personality and soul loss in order to harness their mental capacity to academic purposes. Of course there's the matter of their rather grotesque apetite but Omeluum, a peaceful Illithid scholar of the Society of Brilliance is working on a non-brain alternative nourishment. Likely a sort of psychic mushroom.
"There is no more horrific death" Try dying outside of the planar spheres (in space between space) Your soul will be trapped there as it can't move on to the afterlife, as this space between spaces is completely disconnected from anything.
I found you through WoW content, loving every second of your hidden details and lore videos. I myself have gotten really into Baldur's Gate despite not knowing much about D&D and its lore beforehand so I loved this video!! The Illithid are such a cool and unique species and though mindflayers have been present in WoW, they really don't do the origin justice. Keep up the awesome work!!!
I have to wonder if the mind flayers were at all inspired by the Star Trek TOS episode Spock's Brain. The whole brain stealing and ruled by a over-brain thing made that episode spring to mind.
Well isn’t it kinda similar? Ceremorphosis kinda just deletes your soul, so from my understanding you also get no afterlife in that outcome. But I suppose unknowing nothing is better than eternal suffering
Phenomenal lore & overall video!! I really wish you had talked about the ‘Elder Brain Dragon’ that makes an Elder Brain mobile after taking over the brain of a dragon - truly one of the most terrifying creatures for an apocalyptic campaign! 🧠🐙🐉
Really cool video but if I remember correctly treatment of thralls change from mind flayer to mind flayer. Some don't care some see them as beloved pets.
Would illithid be so bad, if they bred smart cows ? I've never been more conflicted on a species. They're terrifying, but cool af. Bg3 makes me wonder if what happens to the soul.
I'm directing a super exciting campaign about the heroes playing like superheroes, saving the world of Eberron from an alien invasion.... The illithids are the main enemies and its going amazing
I know this is a little off the strip and has not really anything to do with your video, but hearing "Mind flair" made me think of my theory 😅 I still believe that the Stranger Things plot will be, that the show shows the imaginary visualization of the 4 kids playing D&D in their parents cellar as Eleven reads their minds from the lab as if they met, but they never have done so. So Eleven never escaped, but they have lived their lives together as if they have met. Making the kids unaware of her actually forming the story they play out as a game of D&D, but they all secretly "feel" that she excists.
**BG3 SPOILERS** My understanding from BG3 is that the mother brain issues a command to the tadpole to transform, and that is what causes ceramorphosis to begin. In the events of BG3, you are blocked from receiving the command by the Zathisk. If you stop receiving help from the emperor, you receive a cutscene where the mother brain tells you to transform. I think it's also been mentioned that he has stopped the command dozens of times already.
Naw Tears or the Kingdom will win. BG3 is amazing but it’s got some flaws and the last act is still very much in an early access state. Deffo a contender, but it won’t win.
a mind flayer can't have an octopod head because octopod means his head has eight feet. you failed your charisma deception check we all know you are using words you don't actually know.
Or he's just using language a bit more loosely because he expects us to understand what he meant rather than taking it far too literally, and I'm very literal minded!
Oh have some fun! We watch horror movies to feel a sense of dread for example. I bet you are one of those people who would say, "it's not real so this is stupid." People who are like this generally lack imagination, creativity, and to be frank...empathy. For real, man....learn to have some fun. It's called suspension of disbelief.

Some of the images are from Magic The Gathering cards that perfectly fit the video ( :

that sounds like a crazy cool character.

I am shocked this doesn’t have way more views, it’s so well made! I hope you do more for other BG3 :) races :)

More likely inspired by creatures of the Lovecraftian universe, honestly.
@@jonu5505 Probably, but you can't tell me Gary Gygax wasn't a huge trekkie.
@@amandasmith593 Yeah, you're probably right.
Humans are very much like Mind Flayer and the fact that humans deny that, makes them even more like Mind Flayer.

Excellent video bro. I have watched it multiple times. Thank you!

Seriously underrated video! Please accept this sacrifice to Algorithm, the Elder God, that He might bless this video with greater visibility.

Solid😎
My whole party is partially evolved. They look Goth. Shadowheart asked: ‘Am I still pretty?’
Idk. What if those little things that look like gold coins devour you alive? I mean they get everywhere. Like sand with tiny teeth.
This was real good
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Unless you are Karlach and you can either spend eternity in Hell or become a free thinking Mind flayer and live.
I’m eating lunch while watching this. Graphic, bro lol.
I dont even play it but im here for the lore :D

MORE BG3 MORE BG3
Bg3 goty, no contest.

What about AC6?
Zelda wins by default because it's Zelda. BG3 deserves it more though.
🤔
damn dawg bg3 won
Talk gnolls!
100% on the list!!
Fantastic Video!
Thank you so much! That's very kind :)
I play a half-flayer lol 🦑

Would it be the head of a cephalopod? So a Bipedal Cephalopod that is Humanoid
LOL! Because fictional entities are real, right? And we should totally be fearing this fantasy nonsense. LOL!

Youre no fun. Its just to make the video more compelling and engaging to listen to.
what are you, forty fucking years old? You type like my mother.
