I'm just here, being the glue that holds Dawid together. Buying GPU's at MSRP like chad.
the hero we needed
My hero is "Anna".
She is the Messiah!
You’re an unspoken hero during these scalping times!
Mission impossible theme begins in @anna muller s head. (Would have been for both dawid and video card at msrp 3 months ago.)
This is some pretty convincing CGI.
The part where I rub in on my face to three years to animate.
He didn’t have to do anything dodgy in an alley, but he’s so used to it and the shop clerk was such a nice guy that he did anyway
He didn't even go to the store! He sent his wife. Hopefully she didn't have to do anything dodgy.
Don’t have to ask me twice.
*GPU prices:* [start coming down]
*Traumatized Prospective GPU Buyers:* [paranoid twitching] Where's the catch? WHERE'S THE FUCKING CATCH?! _YOU CAN'T FOOL ME!_
for real ive seen some better prices on used market to. its slowly happening lol. kinda mind blowing when ya first see them on amazon for msrp ha.
The catch is that PS5 and Xbox are easily buyable at MSRP and they shit all over the GPUs you can buy atm
The catch is a new generation is appearing on the horizon, which is reportedly going to almost double the current generation's performance.
@@ziegfeld4131 Last I checked, consoles are also still in a shortage this year, as well a target for frequent scalping. So not quite "easily buyable" for consoles yet either.
MSRP is higher
Moment of silence for the 6600 as we know of the hardships it probably went through on the day of filming.
It will never be the same.
Moment of silence for every piece of hardware this man owns
Anna went and did the impossible: Getting a graphics card at msrp
*Anna did
@@zargoyx7567 oh yeah ty
Meanwhile in Serbia: GTX 1050 Ti 4GB for **only** 300€
MSRP is a joke in South Asian countries. Even if everything is alright, GPUs will still cost 20$ to 100$ more. For literally no reason 😐
@@peters.7428 Depends on the store, more well known stores bumped all prices for double or more but you have other ones that have decent prices, there are 1050Ti for 210€ and 1650 for 230€. This exact 6600 is 460€ which is still high price.
I bet $100 the thermal pads on the backplate are to keep it from melting under load.
Sir, this is not a NVIDIA card
Well I'd like to take the 100$ then
yoink
I think your thermal pads keep you from melting under pun ...
@@mikeycrackson exactly xd
even in the US we're at the point where new GPUs cost less than what people are asking for on ebay
It's funny seeing miners on Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist) and eBay trying to offload their hoard for scalper prices, meanwhile new stuff is down to MSRP. I saw quite a few people trying to sell RX570/580 8GB cards for like $500 CAD, meanwhile brand new cards like the RX6600 are down to less than that. Fuck miners tbh.
@@fastgecko5799 I don't have an issue with miners because I own crypto. I just don't like scalpers. There's no reason people who just used them for mining can't sell them at reasonable prices
@@mattb6646 I own a handful of crypto as well, but I still dislike miners for hoarding anywhere from half a dozen to hundreds of cards. Doubly so when the crypto market shifts even a little and they freak out and try to offload them at ludicrous prices, or only as a full rig (the amount of miners that refuse to part out their hardware is ridiculous). It's a twofold issue imo.
Ew, cryptobros.
And offer up.
Dawid: I went to a shop and got a graphics card at Msrp
Also Dawid: Anna went to a shop and got a graphics card at Msrp
We're basically the same person :D
Being able to buy a graphics card for the MSRP left Dawid so shaken that he can't quite remember who did what and who didn't.
@@AnnaDoes So happy to have you here Anna😁
@@herrakaarme I still haven’t quite recovered.
Anna coming in with the clutch of the RX 6600 💪💪
It's so impressive 6600 achieved almost the same performance on half the memory bandwidth.
Good ol' Canada Computers... Too bad they already got me with a terrific "bundle deal" 🤣
canada computers be either : ayo 1100$ for a 3070
or : ayo 800$ for a 3070
Really nice to see prices that are more affordable than a used car loan. CC there had a few MSI 600 cards for $420 CAD (330 USD) but all gone now. Too bad for me.😅
@@richardgarrett2792 I did see a few RX 6600s at the same price Dawid showed in some of the GTA/Toronto locations, so there's that. Shame I already got the 3060 in a terrible bundle; though, I'd say you really haven't lost out IMO -- patience and I'm sure some stock will come along :)
I went to the nearest canada computers store the online and in store are legit nothing alike but they had like 9 GPU's and i picked up the 6500 at 230 USD (280 CAD) which was the best GPU for its price there the closest to it was the 1650 for 200 USD but when i looked on YT the 6500 is better and will last longer i am happy with the purchase since it was a budget build (not rlly cus i had to pay extra 230 dollars for taxes) but i had it for about a month now and i like it soooo much it runs game so smooth (i wouldnt tell that much cus i just got into PC's)
I got a Zotac 3080ti Trinity from them about a month ago for 1500… the next day it went back to 1700! I think someone made a boo boo in my advantage because it wasn’t on sale lol!
It’s the little jokes that I love on this channel. “Canadian rubles” really had me
Anna: spontaneously buying graphic card for MSRP.
David: I rised that girl.
Just goes to show what great cards the 5700 and 5700xt were for the price. I bought a 5700 for £300 a few months after launch here in the UK and now its in my son PC and it's a 1080p beast.
seriously. I got mine a bit later when they were getting rid of the reference models for £250 and it hasn't let me down. I was close to selling it when they were going on eBay for £800 but I knew I wouldn't have anything to replace it with for a while
Been rocking it since launch and have been running all my games very well at 1440p.
I got my Sapphire Pulse 5700xt right before the shortage for $363 from Newegg and I've been loving it for the past 2 years. And I've only noticed recently that it can run 1440p
You're not kidding! I was looking for a 5600 XT for my son during the lull between cryptocalypse 1 and 2, March of 2020, and then the MSI Evoke 5700 popped up for only a few dollars more. After taxes and the rebate, my net price (I'm in the US) was $293.06.
Bought a 3060 for msrp, got it yesterday.
I'm so happy haha.
3:45 the pads are to prevent the plastic from melting.
Not much input, but I just want to say how much I liked the image of Anna when you mentioned how she bought a card. I found it hilarious. Headphones, smile, just beautiful editing.
I just saw 3080's for under $1,000 the other day. I was so confused for a few moments considering you could get a crazy premium whole desktop cheaper than an individual GPU a few months back.
4:09 "cashgrab the game" that caught me off guard lol
I would just pick up a random ALU-ish alloy sheet, cut the shape, stamped nests for the screw holes on my press in the garage, and bend it in all the right places. And cut the hole off course.
David, I am proud of you - you did not go for another knife fight to get the GPU.
Very happy I found this channel keep up the good work.
Getting graphics cards has never been an issue here in Japan.
Oh, at MSRP? Noooo, no no no. Not even before this whole shortage. 😬
12900k+64gb DDR5 and... RX6600. Perfectly balanced as all things should be.
yeah nah
Thanks Dawid! I especially liked the comparison with the higher wattage.
I'm glad that GPU prices are dropping in most other places, but here in Eastern Europe, I don't think the drop is as noticeable, and some cards have either gone up in price, or they're still fluctuating all over the place. It's honestly really wacky, and I wonder what influences such a drastic difference of the markets in different regions.
we're too underprivileged for anyone to care about how much shit costs to us
Inflation.
here in greece every shop seems to be doing whatever they want with prices, ive even seen a gtx 1660 go for 1000 euro. the 6600 is still the best vfm card at around 370 euro
The problem I think how you count msrp, you forgot that in almost all Europe there is VAT tax around 20% and in USA all prices without sale taxes included. So lets take RX 6600 330$ msrp, convert to euro 1euro = about 1.1$ so 330/1.1=300euro and add 20% VAT, so msrp for rx6600 is about 360euro. So in UK cost 289 Pounds (msrp 299), Germany 345 Euro (msrp 360 euro), my country - Lithuania 377euro, Poland 1750zl (375 euro). I don't know where you in Eastern Europe, but at least RX 6600 is around msrp, and for 1080p this card is fine. But I believe it will drop even more... AMD and Nvidia overproduced cards, and demand from miners is gone, so if they want to sell all oversupply they have they have to drop prices... In Autumn new generation of AMD and Nvidia cards will come out, so for sure they want to sell out old stock.
here in hungary, the drop havent even started (considering a gt 710 costs 36k huf that is almost 100 us dollars..)
the pads might be to give some support to the back of the board for good contact to ther heat pipes
Thermally conductive plastic is a thing (e.g. Makrolon)

Great vid and thanks for the update. Nice to see prices coming down. They are still very overpriced here in Australia though. Ill be staying with my old 1080ti for now. Its still more than powerful enough for whatever i play.
Same story as mine, im from indonesia, i live in a rural area infact (not even a province capital or whatever),
i managed to get a gigabyte 2060 for $400 (i know that's like $50 over international msrp, but i live in indonesia, soo you probably understand) from an offline store,
happy to see them gpu prices going back to normal
I just love how you make anything about a PC funny.
i got this like 5-6 days ago at 330 dollars/ msrp im happy as hell so far it fits my needs.
I like how Dawid sends Anna to do his work for him.
Man you are seriously one underrated youtuber you deserve more subs.
I have this card, but Powercoolor model, and its a beast, no stutters, stable +60fps on ultra, very low comsumption and less than 70º under heavy load
Love the videos❤Keep it up❤
Some plasitcs are designed to conduct heat. They are often used with lithium batteries, not only to contain and insulate, but also to remove heat.
Love your videos that don't end in any STD's! What program are you using to show system info on the top left? thanks!
Here, we've had GPU in stock pretty much the whole time but they cost like 3x msrp.
But now the store is selling em for discount.
That sounds like a dream. Over here the shops actually have surprisingly little stock, all things considered. It's easy to imagine the stores are actually doing that on purpose, to avoid a situation where competition would drop the prices. Not surprisingly, the prices are dropping here slower than in many bigger countries, where you usually hear the news from. If the stores are already preparing for the next gen, that would be a bit too early, seeing how many gamers remain in a situation where they haven't had the means to upgrade yet.
here new GPUs are overpriced af and even with discounted prices they're still overpriced but miners haven't started offloading their stock yet as stable cryptos are still better to hold than local pesos, third world at finest
There's some 3070 Ti cards available in actual Canada Computer stores for me locally. They're around 900$, which is higher than MSRP (MSRP is 599 USD, which converts to ~766 Canadian Yen) by about 140$, but it's by far the best prices for a good GPU that I've seen since 30-series launch.
If it wasn't for the fact that I decided to settle for a prebuilt early last year with a 3060 Ti in it, I'd totally cave on getting one of these cards and making a whole new build. That 3700X and 3060 Ti combo in that prebuilt is doing some great work at 1440p and really good frame rates, so I'm pretty much just waiting for 40-series GPUs and 7000 CPUs before I decide on making an actual build.
I was in two bestbuys in Hawaii last week, both had GPUs, the second store, the shelves were completely stocked, the prices were outrageous though. Cheaper on newegg, just for reference. I am still waiting a few months. The MSI 6600 was there BTW, at both stores. The rest were high end 3000 series.
I guess I'm lucky because I haven't had to suffer too much with GPUs. The Micro Center here in Sharonville did an excellent job keeping stock during COVID.
Got the same GPU a week ago, decent temps and good performance
I read before that is not total power draw from AMD gpu's shows in msi afterburner.
this card use around 130W only while gaming, still great.
These are definitely the goto budget choice, here in the UK you can get the MSi version for £310 inc VAT delivered(about £260 pretax or about $350 Yank). So basically a 2060Super for £40 less than a 2060, or £40 less than the very weaker 3050.
I was able to get a 3080 12GB at MSRP recently, at least according to the listing on the EVGA FTW3 variant.
I never knew the 5700 runs half the power draw of the 5700xt, that’s kinda mind boggling actually..
It’s also a weird Dell version, so it could be limited to 130ish watts so it doesn’t set Alienware PCs on fire.
Great 🎥 how good would this card be for streaming fortnite? Asking because lack of NVEC for fast movement on screen
Congrats!
Could you do a video on VR performance and where to spend your money (headset vs gpu)?
Since September 2021 most canada computer in Montreal got most of nvidia and amd. Depends on the owner. They didn't list it on their website and 1 per costumer
You know something is sup with the economy when you see people making out with any graphics card they could find 😳
Regardless another banger video as always.
😂
something is absolutely sup
I saw the short, and knew something great was coming
Very good video! That RX5700 is a great card!
it’s good to see that they’re coming down in price. there’s an evga 3060 which is under $100 over msrp in australia and 3070tis are about $1000
Been waiting patiently for 2 straight years to upgrade my PC and now that the prices are slowly turning back to normal (at least for the mid-tier cards), I say that the wait was worth it. I was not gonna pay $900 for a 3060 or 6700XT
In these days, the RX 6600 ( and 6600XT ) are really the BEST GPU's you can buy for those "MSRP" price ! It is a very good gaming card ! And of course AIB prices are always a bit higher !
That $20 over MSRP price is not bad for an AIB card with 3 fans !
Yeah, but realistically the rx6600 should've been a $300 card as its borderline a low end card. Not really midrange material. It'd be like upper low end but low end nonetheless.
haha what? 6600xt msrp is shitty and 6600 is even worse.
@well in that case And rx6600 is only slightly worse than a rtx 3060
@well in that case Yeah, it kinda is near low end. The rtx 2060 should really be the low end now. And the rtx 3060 and rx6600 are not that much faster than it.
@well in that case Dude, I use a 1050. All those people, including me, are looking for a proper upgrade
not a bad press. , solder in the gaps on the flattened heatpipes those ridges always caused issues on the 470 and my 270x parts exactly in the gaps almost didnt get contact.
The price comparison at the end says it all. We can now buy a GPU that is the same price and performance as 2019. But it is more efficient. Last year, I sold my 5700 and bought a 6600XT instead; sure the 6600XT was inflated, but I still walked away with some extra $ in my pocket from the deal, so I'm not complaining
That card is still 420 USD equivalent from the retailer near me
It hardly matters though, since it’s out of stock. Like 95% of the GPUs on the website
I would guess the ‘improvement’ in the GPU market really depends on where you live
Newegg has the Asrock Challenger RX 6600 for 335 right now with free shipping here in the US. There is a light at the end of this nearly 2 year old tunnel.
+1 for the Archer reference. RIP Jessica Walter.
I just recently got a EVGA RTX 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra. Paid $1400 including tax (retail) at BEST BUY. It pulls 450 watts lots of the time gaming. Runs about 80c on graphic intense games in 4k ultra.
I love how he sometimes does a smell test lol. I wish you could find a card similar to this for a bit cheaper.
no no no silly all you have to do if exaggerate the smell of a new graphics card to make it sound amazing like Dawid does that's how simple it is
Thermally conductive plastic? Well DJI sure seems to think so with their new magnetic case for their new DJI Action 2 camera (I just bought it and it came with the case for free) and it's supposed to address the overheating problem when the camera is running in warm environments or being used as a standstill camera.
I could sense a new video; I don't know how but I just knew...
There are numerous thermally conductive plastics, so yes it cold be that back-plate is conductive.
Can you do a video on ram speed comparisons?
A GPU at MSRP in a store?! Nature is healing.
Wonder if you can do to the 6600 like I did with my old 5700 and flash an XT bios to it for more performance? I had a GamingX with an XT Bios running over 1900mhz all the time and would benchmark to mid level 5700xt performance. Interesting Video idea if you aren't worried you may possibly brick your new, shiny, bought in a store, MSRP card.
Increasing the memory clock and core clock helps the 6600 alot as it comes underclocked by default to save on power consumption.
My guess is that they put the thermal pads on the backplate to reduce vibration noise from the fans and the plastic against the board itself
I just bought one of these because it may not be as good as a 3060 but it is available at MSRP on Newegg.
I had someone on "eCray" so mad they refused to sell to me after I pointed out that the 1060 3gb Mini they listed was only worth about $50-$75 bucks now that the 3050's where here! Its amazing how no one checks prices or availability anymore. They must have been trying to recoup some losses from a 2021 GameStop stock purchase.
Right now they have the Radeon RX 6700 XT is being found at $500 USD which is $20 over MSRP for the lowest end model.
i have this exact same card but its paired with the ryzen 5 5500 and 32gb ram. works really well, and you can actually up the wattage by 20 watts just by increasing it in the amd software
oh in Canada, I thought you were down the road in Whales
The thermal pads between the backplate and the PCB are there because leaving air gap between backplate and PCB would make PCB temps higher. Yea, the plastic backplate doesn't transfer heat as well as metal but it still does transfer some heat so it's still worth using thermal pads between it and PCB.
There's no computer store/shop where I live at in the states, so I'll never get a card at MSRP unless amazon or newegg sells it at that
or I buy used.
I actually walked in abest buy a few weeks ago and bought a xfx 6600 for 40 more than msrp. Been really happy with it, and many times it runs so cool the fans don't kick on while playing older or esport games.
copper heat pipes are good, I got i5 3570k to overclock to 4.7 just with air copper and mx4.
The pad's stuck to the back of the plastic is to prevent static buildup thermal pad's act as an discharge. Kinda stupid having an whole plastic backing but keeps cost down on card
Damn I like it when you do tech stuff haha
for Australians, this is A$429 on amazon right now, or about US$304 - seems like a pretty good deal (in the current market, I guess) but will take 3-5 weeks to deliver
Newegg has been selling the msi version of 6600 at MSRP $330 for over 2 weeks.
Hilarious as always Dawid, great vid
Lucky girl. The same exact GPU is 620 CAD in Romania 😭
I have a pretty weird story too. Yesterday I went to Goodwill and bought Ram. Brand new Corsair vengeance Pro DDR4 2x16GB 3200mhz. 6$ brand new in the packaging and it works ! I feel like a lucky guy, maybe I should've played the lotto.
Sometimes it is old RAM in the box of the new RAM 🤫
DDR4 is also getting much cheaper (especially medium and slow speed) because DDR4 is on the way out.
The thermal pads on the backplate are clearly so you can replace the ones you destroyed taking off the cooler. :D
i did myself some good with my gpu upgrade. ftw gtx 1080 for $298 shipped after tax. that and a local r5 5600 for $165. prices are normalizing, REJOICE!!!
this video is special to me because last week i just browsed stuff online, saw the same Gigabyte 6600 in stock in a store, called, reserved it and walked in the store and bought it an hour later
I got a 6600xt at MSRP. I also used to work at Best Buy so I had an advantage lol
HAve been lurking prices in EU of 6600 and xt version prices are still kinda high
damn bro you went outside thats crazy 😱
Dawid almost convinced me to buy a graphics card until he convinced me to look for an older graphics card.
love my 6600, apart from the driver timeouts
Finally, I can retire my GT 710 for his 5 years of service. Thank you buddy.
4:07 most accurate discription of gta v ever.
Thanks for the video.
I just bought the exact same gpu -14% below msrp
I think it is a good deal when below msrp compared to the options available right now
That's finally good news! So later in the year IF something were to go wrong with my 3060 ti card I can just go to a local Bestbuy or Computer shop and pick up a card yay I'm glad that is back to normal. :)
That's an oof on the msrp comparison with the 5700 😅
