For Minecraft, Sodium which is easily installed through Iris Shaders yields a much better performance increase over Optifine. If memory serves part of the reason why Sodium works so well is because it adds rudimentary multi core cpu support to Minecraft among other things.
minecraft is a single threaded game (render wise) so even sodium can't help there, minecraft itself is _very_ memory bound especially at very low settings. This is why at 10:05 both the cpu and gpu were under 100% load. Getting faster lower latency memory will massively improve the framerate in this senario. pcie bandwidth will also help with this
@@jumpingjoy7689 Minecraft is multi threaded when it comes to chunk loading but not with game logic I assume. I tested this by using task manager to set core affinity (this specifies what cores to use) and found that at a standstill, when all chunks are loaded, more cores dont make much of a difference past 2. However when you start moving to different areas, it does bog down, quite a bit with two cores. Switch it to all and it does speed up chunk loading considerabely. Also its multi core enhancements seem to cause issues to system with low core counts when it comes to chunk loading. Something something multi core optimisations screw over lower core counts or some shit. Take it all with some salt since I'm a random stranger on the internet. Who knew MSI Afterburner struggles with frame rates above 6000 or so? Does the overlay put enough additional load on the system to make the difference, or is it some other limitation?
Afterburner makes a difference between 8000 vs 10000fps but not 100 vs 120fps because of its render time on the rendering pipeline. Say that msi osd takes 1 millisecond to render per frame. If the game already takes 8ms to render then your fps goes from 1/0.008 to 1/0.009 which is like 120fps to 110fps. A game already running at 1ms per frame (1000fps) would mean that msi afterburner would double the total render time essentially halving the frame rate. See what’s going on?
Considering most benchmarks on 3Dmark are made by 3090Ti SLI, with an uplift from 13-17% higher scores compared to single 4090, I wonder if 9000 fps could be easily achieved by hooking up 2 Asus ROG Strix 3090Ti LC OC. Each overclocked to 2.2Ghz core and +200mHz Vram while drawing an average of 550W each(mine can do this, so I bet others can do similar settings). SLI is not totally dead(games support it without saying it), at least modern-day titles came out in the past few years, only Witcher 3 is entirely dull from SLI, in other games, u don't see 1+1=2 of course, but 1+1=1.5-1.8 is still typical, and viable.
the ram does not run at 6000mhz. it runs at 6000 megatransfers per second sir. ranks and rows remember? I hit the same limit in bf1 with 5950x and 6900xt@2727mhz. just cant get frostbite to give max frames despite max settings. only way i found to get frostbite to chew bigger chunks of data is to increase the render resolution. looks more pretty too :)
Half Life 2 running like CS:GO on a meth binge is very much reminiscent of running old DOS games on faster CPUs than they were designed for. Hell, even Cyberpunk has components which are affected by framerate-the legs cyberware jump height is directly tied to the FPS.
I hate when games tie the game logic to FPS or the frequency of the processor. Running old DOS games can be a hassle if you don't know that... And PC doesn't come with a "Turbo" button so you have to do some software adjustments... But at least there is no more people hitting "Turbo" on their PC thinking it makes it faster when in reality was made to make it slower for compatibility hahahaha
You probably already know this but with csgo the bots negatively impact your framerate way more than you would expect, it's overly intensive for what it is. You can actually get 1.5-2x performance in an online match (on modern hardware). I only bring it up because I see youtubers run benchmarks in offline with bots all the time and it bothers me that none of them either mention it or know that fact. Anecdotal, but i get 200-250 with 9 bots and about 350 in matchmaking with a 5600x and a 3070.
Yep, Dawid's videos can be pointless at times, but they are hilarious. A request for Dawid to please recite the line from Lethal Weapon 2, "Diplomatic Immunity"....love that accent.
This was super cool to watch. On a Neo-Geo emulator when I uncap the FPS to skip cutscense I get over 3000. In FEAR the benchmark caps at 999, but fraps shows 1700. I have an AMD 5900 and RTX 6900XT.
Optifine makes Minecraft run worse cause it is designed for older hardware, install fabric and sodium and try again, my 5950x and 3060 combo can do 2k frames, Intel can get way more cause of higher single core MHz.
The chance that you see this message is probably low but I get 2000 fps in the old star wars battlefront 2 (2005 classic) with a rx 580, or at least that's what the radeon software reports, love the vids.
I mean, technically speaking, you could just make a simple game in Game Maker with little to no logic in it and it could probably run at well over 9000 FPS if you let it
the reason hl2 was really sped up is because like most early 2000's games it used animations reliant on capped frame rates of 30-60 so if you unlock it shit really starts to hit the fan
Reviewing his hardware. CPU - Good cpu. Very fast. GPU - 4090. I mean it'll bottleneck your system but it's fine. Better recommendation. AMD GPU + Hydra for overclocking until it's as good as a 4090 so it'll take less heat. RAM - Overkill. Anything above 5000 MHZ will not have any impact on performance. You just gotta make sure it's low latency so you get more performance. PSU - 1200 W is a little much but you use a Nvidia GPU and next gen will of course use 1000 W because it's Nvidia so I guess it's fine. SSD - Don't have much to say. It's a good SSD. Maybe go Samsung for more reliability. But that's just my personal preference. TL;DR: I mean pretty much perfect except for the GPU Reviewing his Minecraft because that's the game I know the most about. Minecraft is single-threaded I'm pretty sure. You haven't even tried Sodium instead of Optifine. Sodium is the best performance mod. Combine that with Sodium and Starlight and FerriteCore and you'll get more FPS . Telemetry will of course lose you 1 fps in some situations. So install the No Telemetry mod. TL;DR: Just install some mods and you'll go over 10000 easily. Also look I'm a Linux fanboy but I'll try to be not too ass about it here: It can gain and sometimes lose you fps. Since java is native on Linux you'll gain some fps. Also then you can use a good MSI afterburner alternative for showing fps which looks better than FRAPS on your eyes (Mangohud). TL;DR: Some random person in your comment section recommends Linux. And the random person isn't biased because Minecraft is native.
if you press f3 in Minecraft it has in-game fps counter. you should have tried sodium mod too, instead of optifine. probably 1.12/1.12.2 version would be best
Whoa, what a machine. One day I hope to build something like this, however with prices soaring so high in my region for this kind of stuff, I will have to wait it out until it calms down, low supply I think, not to sure. I am quite jealous though, what a machine you built. Nice work.
Older Source1 games can run in DirectX 8 mode by passing the launch parameter -dxlevel 81, also the physics break above 900 fps unless sv_cheats is set to 1 which CS GO benchmark did if you look at the chat box. Also for the 7950X3D cpu you may have to do whats known as Core Parking to force the game to run on the CCD which has the 3D v-cache(this isnt an issue on the 3800X3D as it only has one CCD).
That is actually a thing, in CS 1.6 msi afterburner seriously drops the performance when playing at high framerates, and trust me, it makes a MASSIVE difference bc of weird player's speed acceleration stuff.
The reason why source games start to make everything faster when they reach over 1000fps is because the latency is set to 1ms and if it exceeds that latency then it starts "skipping" steps.
Dawid! "Made by Aries himself"? Bruh Aries didn't make crap. It was Haephestus that forged all of Aries weapons. And pretty much all the other weapons of the Greek Gods. Except maybe Zues' lightning bolt. I think that was given to him by the titans to defeat Chronos.
For even better minecraft performance sodium on fabric far excels optifine. There are also a few mods making minecraft render in vulkan, which supposedly gives you even more performance than that!
When messing with anything that might BSOD: Search for "environment" in the search window, click edit the system environment variables (control panel), click Settings under Startup and Recovery, change Write debugging information to None. That way you don't have to wait for a crash log to write, that just wastes your time.
I have a question. If FPS and Hz of the monitor matter in how well you do in any given video game, as well as internet connection, does that mean that online competition games like Battle Royale games are merely a competition of who has the best gear, or is it really a matter of skill at the game lol?
2:38 blisterring ? ehh , ive seen DDR5 kits at 7200mhz , spoiler alert its only gonna get faster with time up to a certai point . remember , ddr3 base speed was like 800mhz then the sweet spot was like 1600 or 1866 and the max speed was like 2400 . then ddr4 started at 2133 and the sweetspot was at 3600 with the max reaching 4800 to 5000 . trust me , its gonna be the same with ddr5 , base clock will be 4800 then the sweet spot might end up being something like 6400 or 6600 then the max might reach something like 8600 mhz . i dont know why , but with each generation of ram , the max gap between base clock and max possible speed widens more and more .
Wait, does this mean that MSI Afterburner's RivaTuna on-screen display makes you lose a non insignificant amount of FPS??? Or does it only start affecting your performance after a certain amount of FPS? Because going from like 6.5K FPS to 9.2K FPS, is like a 30% reduction in FPS, and I don't think that's happening whilst running more "normal FPS"
Hey Dawid! I'm sure you did but did you mind to install the latest amd cpu driver package that fixes the CCD allocation for the 7000x3d series? They seriously underperform without that AMD supplied task scheduler enabled. That massively helps or alternatively, disabling the CCD without the 3D V-Cache will help. By all reason that cpu should have been running circles around the Intel cpu in gaming tasks, without the OC at least. Awesome results man, this surely is a record of some sort!
Wrong. It would not helped at all. Because The Source Engine (half life & CSGO ) and Minecraft are heavily Singlecore Performance dependant. And because the 7950x3d has a much lower frequency than the 13900kf it performs much worse. And also CSGO has always favoured Intel CPU's. And both games don't use a lot of Cache. So the 3D Cache brings you zero additional Performance. I mean you saw how the Fps increased by almost 1000fps just because he overclocked and increased the frequency a bit.
"should have been running circles around the Intel cpu in gaming tasks" Good joke. Maybe in a few cherry picked benchmarks by your buddies over at LTT, because I bet you watch them. RPL-S and by extension RPL-R destroy Zen 4 in raw CPU performance, in single core (traditionally) and now ESPECIALLY in multi core.
If DooM source ports aren't capped I'd imagine you'd get to 9k as well, I think I was hitting 4-600 on a really complex Pwad with a first gen i5 laptop.
I wrote a 2D game that would get around 1000s of FPS, I think it could hit 9000 depending on resolution. You could hear the frequency of the frame rate in the GPU's coil whine. It was definitely not an efficient game even, using SDL_render. Directly targeting something like Vulkan API would probably be quicker, but in this case it didn't have to be quicker. Also running the server and client on separate PCs might eke out a bit more performance.
Unreal Tournament probably would get to 9000fps with Direct3d9 and 469C patch, with an i7 6700k & GTX 970 I could get ~3000fps on some of the default maps. Even with this potato pc I can get over 1000fps and it's a 3rd gen I5.

No but seriously what's up with that MSI Afterburner thing? It has me questioning it's reliability now - or perhaps FRAPS is just CRAP.
it's because it renders a whole graph, which adds time to rendering
Because msi after burner renders a lot more which normally makes minimal difference but can make a big difference when your talking about 2k vs 3k fps
In general msi ab slow down your games by 5% or so in some titles, I have noticed that before.
It's actually because of how utterly simple and lightweight FRAPS is.
Afterburner makes a difference between 8000 vs 10000fps but not 100 vs 120fps because of its render time on the rendering pipeline. Say that msi osd takes 1 millisecond to render per frame. Dawid you should have used the sodium mod. Even my 10 year old intel pentium 2020m can get 200 frames in 720p.
Best sponsorship videos in the game, period.
Vegeta: Uhhh, it's 1006.
Nappa: Really?
Vegeta: Hold on, the scouter was upside down. It's over 9 thousand!
Muffin Button?
The anticipation.... IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!
Dawid, I love you name, your sense of humor, and your stupid experiments!
Dawid really know how to make sponsorships entertaining. His sponsorship plugs never feel jarring and emeraion breaking. Bravo!😊
the ram does not run at 6000mhz. it runs at 6000 megatransfers per second sir. ranks and rows remember?
But at least there is no more people hitting "Turbo" on their PC thinking it makes it faster when in reality was made to make it slower for compatibility hahahaha
dawid has a bond with lexar like the bond I have with Dodge and Ram
@3:10 - What's that little "ECO" switch on the PSU for?
its for making it more quiet, i would assume.
Yeah it makes it so the PSU Fan doesn't turn on below 50% load capacity
This is my favorite video on UA-cam. The opening is epic, the topic is epic, and the fact he made it, is epic.
Cyberpunk will run like 35.4 fps
that's a really generous estimate Joe
more like 3.54 fps
That's very optimistic Joe
@@MyBestBuddiesForever more like 35,4 seconds per frame
Does everyone just have old PCs? I never had frame rate issues with mine, cyberpunk always ran at 60+ fps
The human eye can only see at 7000 FPS, tops.
Strongly agree, everything higher than 7000 fps would be a waist of electricity and carbon.
Afterburner hurts performance and can cause stutters, well, the Riva Tuner RTSS part of it at least.
Does that mean that we should use good old Fraps as an FPS overlay instead of MSI Afterburner ?
sounds like another video idea for him to try out
I think msi afterburner doesn't affect performance if you don't have graphs enabled like dawid did. But i could be mistaken
you just need rivatuner WITHOUT afterburner. you can get it separately. i'm disappointed you didn't retry the other games :(
That's not 9000+ fps, its 1006, your scouter is upside down Dawid!
Uh.. go to this 12:44 and slow down the video.
Yep, Dawid's videos can be pointless at times, but they are hilarious. A request for Dawid to please recite the line from Lethal Weapon 2, "Diplomatic Immunity"....love that accent.
Congratulations Dawid. You achieved something remarkable. You deserved this comment because of that.
I'm a bit amazed you didn't even try sodium and iris for minecraft before immediately switching to the alpha build
You may get more fps by disabling second CCD on 7950x3d
depends on game on cod yeah but not on minecraft higher clocks better than cache
How is this video already 9 months old...?
If you wanted an easier time and to be more accurate to the original anime, you could have aimed for over 8000
This was super cool to watch.
I mean, technically speaking, you could just make a simple game in Game Maker with little to no logic in it and it could probably run at well over 9000 FPS if you let it
Minesweeper 😂
just render a single pixel in a window that changes color when you press a button
An unbound fps cap on a gba emulator will hit over 9k real fast on almost any decent system too
Yeah but then the video would be 3 minutes long
the reason hl2 was really sped up is because like most early 2000's games it used animations reliant on capped frame rates of 30-60 so if you unlock it shit really starts to hit the fan
the next journey should be a million fps (maybe using a super computer) should get it to the millions of fps
Not really. Super computers are about scale, not clock speeds. You aren’t pushing 6 GHz on 90000 cores
oooh shit but the frontier super computer can do quintillion calculations per second the the game should push soo many fps
@@xtraingamer7487 super computers are built using thousands of cpu's and gpu's, video games are not designed to run on so many parts.

TL;DR: I mean pretty much perfect except for the GPU
Reviewing his Minecraft because that's the game I know the most about.
Also look I'm a Linux fanboy but I'll try to be not too ass about it here:
It can gain and sometimes lose you fps. Since java is native on Linux you'll gain some fps. Also then you can use a good MSI afterburner alternative for showing fps which looks better than FRAPS on your eyes (Mangohud).
TL;DR: Some random person in your comment section recommends Linux. And the random person isn't biased because Minecraft is native.
was this video sponsored???
It may have been, but it was so SUBTLE it was hard to tell.
Do you have a playlist with all your music? I really like it and it works great in the videos.
if you press f3 in Minecraft it has in-game fps counter. you should have tried sodium mod too, instead of optifine. probably 1.12/1.12.2 version would be best
Dawid, you are the BEST kind of loon, the "Because I *CAN*, OKAY?!" kind. And now you're rocking the highest framerate vid I've ever seen.
Finaly, the fist video with Minecraft, please make more minecraft videos!
Honestly the most surprising find in this video is msi afterburner and the riva tuner overlay impact. Who would have thought
Whoa, what a machine. One day I hope to build something like this, however with prices soaring so high in my region for this kind of stuff, I will have to wait it out until it calms down, low supply I think, not to sure.
I am quite jealous though, what a machine you built. Nice work.
100% sold on ASMR Lexar.
I have never seen such a Dawid-esque thumbnail before!
Nice video! Finally I have the knowledge to build a system suitable for my supersaiyan eyes that can actually detect over 9000 images each second!
No mention of the coil whine? I thought for sure it would be insanely loud at 9000 fps.
That was just plain cool. I felt like it was the championship game, with 15 sec left. Well done Dawid! 😎🤟🏻
Thanks!
Very funny video. Nice product placement :D
I have a question. If FPS and Hz of the monitor matter in how well you do in any given video game, as well as internet connection, does that mean that online competition games like Battle Royale games are merely a competition of who has the best gear, or is it really a matter of skill at the game lol?
What's the stats thingy that you have that shows your FPS, CPU temp and more? I'm kind of curious
Davvid finally set the right direction. I mean, who needs a 8k 120hz when with a current top gen hardware we can play a game with over 9000fps
2:38 blisterring ? ehh , ive seen DDR5 kits at 7200mhz , spoiler alert its only gonna get faster with time up to a certai point . remember , ddr3 base speed was like 800mhz then the sweet spot was like 1600 or 1866 and the max speed was like 2400 . then ddr4 started at 2133 and the sweetspot was at 3600 with the max reaching 4800 to 5000 . trust me , its gonna be the same with ddr5 , base clock will be 4800 then the sweet spot might end up being something like 6400 or 6600 then the max might reach something like 8600 mhz . i dont know why , but with each generation of ram , the max gap between base clock and max possible speed widens more and more .
i used to get around 2000 in halo ce with an 860m, would love to see how a game like that performs with this hardware
That was a great video man!!
You went the hard route. Eastside Hockey Manager can max the CPU with FPS showing just a random stat sheet.
LOL! That intro! Possible new wallpaper.
@@melon3210 Ah dang you're absolutely right, I completely forgot to take singlecore performance into consideration, big derp!
"should have been running circles around the Intel cpu in gaming tasks"
Good joke.
Imagine playing Minecraft and turning the camera causes you to drop 2000 FPS💀
That was actually awesome my man
hey dawid there is also iris for minecraft that boosts fps like crazy and minecraft vulkan to to increase fps too
Awesome work Dawid. Now next challenge - 9000fps on 10k resolution :D
Unreal Tournament probably would get to 9000fps with Direct3d9 and 469C patch, with an i7 6700k & GTX 970 I could get ~3000fps on some of the default maps. Even with this potato pc I can get over 1000fps and it's a 3rd gen I5.
Excellent video Dawid
