Great points. We need lots of healthy arguments. In today's world, there is way too much name-calling and not enough reasoning.

The beauty of the Catholic Church is lay people need not worry about why something is, but only that the Church is against it or for it. Most moral issues have already been debated and are codified in the catechism of the Catholic Church. If you accept the authority of the Church it leaves you time to work on yourself where you fall short and confess your sins and repent. So the only argument you need to make is the authority of the Church.

While true on the one hand, you should always be willing to defend the faith by knowing the why behind the determinations.

Why is anyone confessing sin? What's the point in that?.... Read Colossians 2:14 - Sin has been removed from the world !! Read 2 Corinthians 5:19 - God has not credited anyone in the world with sin !! ..... So God sees NO SIN in the world !! So God is sitting there, saying .... Why are you confessing something that I God have never found you guilty of ??? .... In short, God calls everyone in the world sinless !! It is called the power of the CROSS !!

    • @Ambassador-For-Christ
      @Ambassador-For-Christ 2 роки тому

I never confess sin, because it is 100% impossible for me not to go to heaven! Ephesians 4:30 proves that fact !! So I can sin all day and never worry about it !!

@@Ambassador-For-Christ John 20:23, read it, it's the proof that sins exists and in John 20:23 there is also is the reason why we confess our sins to a priest, the priests are ordained by bishops through sacrament of the holy order, the bishops are serving as sucessors to the apostles. As the apostles died, the task of shepherding the Church fell by default upon the highest-ranking ministers appointed by them. This group is known today as the bishops.

WELCOME, Matt!! A wonderful, well put together maiden video! This one especially spoke to my needs regarding how I have reacted to certain posts or people that I have allowed to push my buttons/envelope for me, especially those spewing unkind words/ sentiments, attacking me/others, when it all really comes done to the truth. You helped me a lot, especially for having less to share in confession in the future. ;) Best Wishes for your future with Acension.

Refreshing to see someone promoting actual logic to cut through the smokescreens and mirrors that the majority of social media commenters utilize. The name calling especially, when they label someone disparagingly and can't even articulate why (like its the truth in stone). Enjoyed your video!

Thanks for putting this out there. I just hope enough people get to see this and take it seriously. The strawman fallacy is in my opinion detramental to people's views on apologetics, while there are such strong arguments for the faith. As you pointed out though, the point is to find truth and not to win the argument. Be honest with yourself and others

I agree with most of what was said here and appreciate the information.
That said, I think that social media isn't really an appropriate place to "find the truth", as most people are not really interested in the truth, but are more interested in stating their opinion and then having it validated by others. I also think people feel empowered by social media to let out a side of them that they would't normally let other people see in real face-to-face interactions.
Also, when you really think about it, who has the time to argue complex issues with anonymous people by typing on their smartphone keyboard (which I actually find so un-user friendly)? The complex stuff is better done in person, where real sharing and conversion can take place. That's just the way I see it. Social media interactions are often more of a waste of my time than anything else.

I have a question. So I’m arguing with a Protestant about faith and at one point in our argument, I felt like I was maybe training from the teachings of the Church. I was explaining my faith to the best of my ability but I found that I was having difficulty articulating things clearly. I performed one of these fallacies and referenced her to some Fr. Mike Schmitz videos that explained what I was trying to say perfectly. I knew the content of the videos very well but i have a hard time arguing. I didn’t reference the videos to dismiss her argument, I referenced them to explain my argument, and the argument of the Catholic Church, clearly. Did I perform this fallacy in doing so?

What exactly is friendship, when should one stay in a friendship vs. when should one leave, etc. How can one truly be a friend to oneself? And how does this apply to friendship with God? Just seems a very timely topic. :)

GraceAmerica I'm not Catholic, but I am Christian. I would look at what would Jesus do in your circumstances. I think that He would not condone your cousin being transgender, but nevertheless I think Jesus would love your cousin and respond to him with love. The Lord also made your cousin, as He made all of us, and so the Lord loves him too. He tells us that what we do to others we are doing to Him, and so I think you should love your cousin, pray for enlightenment for him and trust that the Lord's will is what matters here. Leave it to Him to handle everything.

    OOPS! Big no-no.....
"Ad"hominem = towards the person, not against. Therefore, an ad hominem means that the insult is TOWARDS the person. Conversely, "ab" means away from. Example, think of the word "abduction" = to place away from. Or adductor muscles (moving towards the body) vs abductor muscles (moving away from the body).
Why on earth did he say this even when there's Google to verify this so easily anyway😖

The first victim of an argument is often the truth! I believe it goes beyond the "borders" of on line interaction. Some people at my work are really good at the art of twisting one's words so badly such wordsl can serve virtually any purpose. The suggestions the video presents are useful and good to be used in any case, I believe. Short, objective answers that focus right on... the focus! Thanks, I am already waiting for the next videos. -> #AskMattFradd Have you ever thought about having your videos subtitled, so you can reach further into the millions of Catholics in Latin America?
