Perfect dodge is really satisfying, too. Not hard to pull off, but I did it once with an archer and we shot at the same time, perfect dodged and killed him. Was extra satisfying because a trophy popped for liberating enough territories or whatever they were called immediately after. 🥲 Best gaming moment of my career; I will never achieve such a cool moment again.
And the outfits has lots of varieties that you could use for different gameplays. Most of the time I use the Ghost and Kensei armor for stealth plays but I've started to like the gosaku for frontal fights in hard mode

glad that you mentioned DMC , it's a really hard game when you try to pull it off, just learning the movesets will take you a lot of time, not to mention the trophies
Doom eternal is definitely one of my all time favorite games. I absolutely love the combat. If anyone wishes to get into it, one big tip I highly recommend when playing Doom Eternal is to ALWAYS keep moving when in combat. No matter what, keep moving because depending on the difficulty, level, and what demons you are fighting, they can crowd you in seconds and you will be dead in seconds.
Mantis blades from Cyberpunk, especially with the Relic tree perks from Phantom Liberty ; coupled with a Sandevistan to jump from one enemy to the other ! If those don't make you feel like an absolute badass, nothing will !
I think one that deserves an honorable mention in the list is Cyberpunk 2077, the amount of times I took out entire rooms of enemies like a one man army, blocking and returning bullets to enemies
I think the Dynasty Warriors series deserves an honorable mention. The combat may be simplistic, but you definitely feel unstoppable as you toss piles of enemies into the air over and over again!
Sekiro is the hardest game I've played, I've probably died at least 60 times to one boss, but once I got the hang of the parry and counter, the fights got really satisfying.
Those back to back moments were so fun if you were playing coop with a friend, I’d love to see the army of two series make a comeback. Those were some really fun games.
I'm currently playing Ghost of Tsushima for the first time, and one thing that irks me a little is that if I'm in the middle of swinging my sword at someone, if another guy comes in with their axe/spear and the little red indicator comes up to dodge, even if I hit the dodge button, it's as if my slashing move still carries out which disables me being able to dodge during that time, so it feels a little punishing in that sense. As for the sword and shield guys, I swear their windup before striking is mere milliseconds, getting a perfect parry with those guys definitely requires some practice!
The thing I most like in Sekiro is that you have the feeling you are dominating the enemy when you get a grasp of the fight. The parry and thunder mechanics are very flashy and I don't think I ever got out of a fight feeling I just got lucky to beat the boss (maybe the last boss, but I still think I earned it lol)
Yep. Button mashing won’t get you very far. Even being good often isn’t enough. A player has to be very good to get it done. Eventually you realize Isshin was telling you the truth: staying face to face with your opponent is the best way to play. Full posture bars are the norm. Hesitation is defeat.
Watching a Sekiro master is pretty much appreciating a real-time anime coming to life. Once you get good at it it's soo satisfying it becomes addicting.
You should've mentioned the most unique fighting game that is For Honor; Anti ganking 4 people with Revenge and killing them all makes your Adrenaline shoot all the way up
A few honourable mentions: 1. Marvel's Spiderman & Miles Morales 2. The Batman Arkham games (Specifically Arkham Knight) 3. Mad Max 4. Sleeping Dogs 5. Star Wars: Fallen Order & Survivor 6. The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction 7. The Prototype games 8. Just Cause 3
One of the things I like about DMC is the progress game after game; they're similar enough to be comfortable but different enough to keep being fun. It's sort of the same way I feel about Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. I can always pick up any game in the series and not be completely overwhelmed because enough stays the same that I can get through, and that can keep me going while I figure out the new stuff as well.. I could skip titles easily and jump back in with Ryu or Scorpion and feel right at home, and DMC gives a similar experience to that.
Got a new gaming laptop and one of the first games that I downloaded was Devil May cry 5. DMC 5 is absolutely love. Have been playing DMC 4 for years now and feel pretty comfortable with all much of the combos. Its super fun once you get a knack of various moves and combos.

I feel like games like shadow of Mordor and shadow of war should be on this list, like once you get certain upgrades and understand the basic mechanics you can easily clear out camps and captains, it also looks very smooth.
RE4 Remake may deserve a spot on this list. It was so satisfying to parry an axe, pop off a couple of headshots, toss a grenade, and finish off with a round house kick, ya know?
arkham knight in new game plus is one of the most satisfying combat experiences i’ve had in a game. when you get so accustomed to the combat system that you can intuitively counter, dodge, use the right gadgets on the right enemies, knife parries and take down 25 enemies without taking a single hit. so insane.

Hilariously, I haven't really played any before Black Flag. Not a fan of Stealth Games. Not my jam. I liked Odyssey. Black Flag I'd prefer the Odyssey Combat.
Katana Zero deserves a spot as well. So satisfying clearing a room with your different time abilities, and then getting the sped up version at the end to show how you undeniably obliterated everyone in the room.
What I liked about Katana Zero is what at the beginning, I was spamming the slow down a lot, but at later levels, I was just playing the game with barely any slow down. It was cool as hell, because you kinda developed a sense of what enemies could do and when to slash bullets/people.
Anyone who's played ALL three Max Payne games would know it's the second game that should have been on this list. The bullet time mechanic is even more OP as it slows you down much less than your enemies.
I feel like the Nioh games should have made an appearance here. Once you unlock the right skills, hammer in your build, and get enough practice you can just dominate even the toughest bosses.
I can’t believe you don’t include any of Platinum’s games here. Even Astral Chain, a switch title, has utterly bonkers combat that’s tougher to master than you think. It’s also one of the most stylish games I’ve ever played. It’s over the top anime goodness.
Risk of rain 2 with command artifact gets absolutely wild with some of the crazy builds you can come up with. Shadow of Mordor at high ranks also comes to mind. Crackdown too. And a final shout out to superhot, that can make you feel like neo when done right. Great video as always fellas.
I like Doom Eternal more because it implemented the finishers in a meaningful way and they don't slow down the gameplay as much as in Doom 16. Also you don't waste ammo in Eternal when you just want to shoot the enemy but in D16 you're forced to finish them.
I know the combat features weren't ever crazy, but Dynasty Warriors really makes you feel unstoppable, taking down hundreds upon hundreds of guys in a single battle. Sometimes even hitting a thousand or more? Yeah, that's unstoppable right there.
The best for me is God Hand(PS2), you can customise all the moves and combo you want and has the coolest dodge move set, you can literally dodge any thing looking cool.
I still wish someone could make a game with combat that's as aesthetically pleasing as ACIII's while having depth similar to Sifu. Ghost of Tsushima does come close tho.
I remember Jedi Knight 2 making you feel like a total badass. When you come upon like 10 storm troopers and use force pull to steal all their weapons then slow motion slice them into ribbons with impunity... it was awesome.
It's a good list, but it's strange not to include the Nioh series. It has a very deep and complex combat system, as well as having the feeling of always being in danger, like every soulslike.
For me Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the games that made me feel like an absolute machine (which tbh my character was kinda more than human). The way you can switch between firearms and melee is just pure ecstasy !!
FF7 rebirth. Like, you get good at that combat and even without OP materia you can do some truly awesome stuff, especially if you get good at character swapping midcombo.
Ghostrunner 2, Armored Core 6, Bulletstorm, Doom Eternal? So many of my favorite games on this list. Been wanting to play Ghost of Tsushima for a while now. Hope sony ports it over to PC soon. Its about damn time they did.

What I liked about Katana Zero is what at the beginning, I was spamming the slow down a lot, but at later levels, I was just playing the game with barely any slow down. It was cool as hell, because you kinda developed a sense of what enemies could do and when to slash bullets/people.
Ace Combat will make you feel like a legendary hero. My favorite part is attacking enemy ports and fleets in Ace Combat 4.
Happy to see DMC up top. Having played everything since the 3rd installment, no denying its the G.O.A.T
I’m surprised platinum games wasn’t prominent in this list. Bayonetta and astral chain had fun combat that makes you feel awesome
Titanfall 2, and Warframe are my games for best combat. Absolutely adore them.
I can’t believe you don’t include any of Platinum’s games here. Even Astral Chain, a switch title, has utterly bonkers combat that’s tougher to master than you think. It’s also one of the most stylish games I’ve ever played. It’s over the top anime goodness.
No god of war(2018) or Ragnarok here? Some UA-camrs have truly shown what the games mechanics can do if correctly used!
Max Payne also had a super fun and unrated MP that I put a lot of time into.
Sleeping dogs 😮 (considering how many fighting styles there are) it should make the list 🤔
Nah, it's a bit too janky. Combat is somehow my least favorite part of that game.
yeah for sure, underrated game
The best for me is God Hand(PS2), you can customise all the moves and combo you want and has the coolest dodge move set, you can literally dodge any thing looking cool.
I still wish someone could make a game with combat that's as aesthetically pleasing as ACIII's while having depth similar to Sifu. Ghost of Tsushima does come close tho.
I remember Jedi Knight 2 making you feel like a total badass. When you come upon like 10 storm troopers and use force pull to steal all their weapons then slow motion slice them into ribbons with impunity... it was awesome.
👍
I’m playing through Sekiro now for the first time and I don’t feel badass… until I do. Then it’s a rush like non other
Man, Bulletstorm is criminally underrated. Such an awesome and pure fun game.
It's not underrated. It scored highly and was well talked about and popular upon release.
It was awesome though, I agree with that.
It's a good list, but it's strange not to include the Nioh series. It has a very deep and complex combat system, as well as having the feeling of always being in danger, like every soulslike.
I was a little surprised not to see Warframe mentioned. You should have a little look.
Bulletstorm is amazing. Absolutely crazy combat system.
Agreed. I can say the same about the first game
I'm amazed that Superhot isn't on here, as a VR game it really makes you feel like a fighting god.
The older God of War games not being on this list is a travesty😂
Ghostrunner 2, Armored Core 6, Bulletstorm, Doom Eternal? So many of my favorite games on this list. Been wanting to play Ghost of Tsushima for a while now. Hope sony ports it over to PC soon. Its about damn time they did.
Ghost was my game of all time. I borrowed a mate's PS4, and then bought a brand new copy of the game just to play it ($99).
Did not disappoint.
