I remember when I first started minecraft when playing pocket edition (I was in like 1st or 2nd grade. I'm a freshman now). I would wonder around and every now and then I would find the pink sheep. I would be so happy and shocked that I would follow it trying to trap it so I could keep it as a pet XD

7:58 actually pink sheep do still spawn at least for the bedrock edition. I found one when I was hunting animals. I thought it was pig so I almost killed it. But when I noticed it was a pink sheep I was just shocked. I made a little home for him and now he’s just part of my base. And oh yeah, I did this all in survival minecraft and I don’t have any mods on and I didn’t even have pink dye or a single piece of diamond equipment that early in the game. All I had was a lead from killing wandering traders, and one nametag from fishing. Oh boy that was a good time. 👍

Watching these videos just made me realize I am just as old of a Minecraft player as Mumbo is. Lol I remember every single one of these things... And the item chart for getting items... Wow, I remember needing to memorize the numbers of the new items whenever there was a new update, it was a pain! Now, you can just look at the darn recipe book whenever you pick up a new block, no more constant wiki trips.
I think the reason why mobs woke you up was if you had your bed too close to walls that lead outdoors, the mobs can detect you or something and reach you through the wall so they can spawn inside.
I also believe the squid used to spawn with the rain so you'd see them all over the place, trying to swim on land.

I remember finding my first wild pink! I had heard of how rare they were and trapped it, setting to work making an enclosure. Luckily it happened in my anything goes creative world. So I built a big pink floor with jungle wood fence, a pink barn, and badly done unicorn pixel art. Bred it with a white sheep until I got another pink sheep and from then on had a natural pink farm. No one believed me because I had so many lol.
Serious nostalgia right now! I played since the beta! I remember when the hunger bar was new and I was SUPER MAD that you hat to actually EAT! It used to be you just ate food to get more health!

I was playing Minecraft: Bedrock Edition with my brother recently, and I actually came across a naturally spawned pink Sheep. I was quite surprised to see they were still in the game.
When the creative inventory had no sections and was just one huge column

I was so confused when they added sections and it took me at least a week to figure out how to access all of the items 😅

6:10 - i'm pretty sure i remember that with the sleeping. I vaguely remember going 3 dirt blocks up and 2 dirt blocks out when doing multi-day treks so you could sleep through the night. From memory the mobs couldn't reach you so wouldn't wake you up.

If I wanted to make an underwater base, I would have to place, block by block in each square to get rid of the water, there was no sponge
Sacred Studios Yes! My underwater houses would be very small since it was so time consuming to place every block in there. And when they did add sponge, it didn’t soak anything up for a while.

So much has changed since I stopped playing regularly. When I moved on from Minecraft, beacons had just been introduced and I think emeralds and villager trading were added as well.
I recently played Alpha on an old CRT monitor and oh my god is it dark. Literally, as soon as the sun starts setting it rapidly goes pitch black and in any kind of cave it is totally pitch black.

Even older players remember that sponges were originally used to suck up water as there was a glitch that water spread infinitely, and the sponge never got wet. However, then sponge was useless for years and then they got their modern behaviour.

I remember playing Minecraft in the browser. When i was a little kid i would do that when i had free time on the computer at elementary... good times... (though it was a bit different)
I also remember the old tutorial before horses were introduced, with all the buildings that had slabs and stone walls...
And when the horses were introduced with the tutorial of that update, i would also go to the mountain near the tutorial area i like to call... Emerald Mountain... (because you could mine Emeralds in the sides of the mountain) ah nostalgia...
When you needed to be level 30 to enchant, when torches would save you from drowning. Before horses and foxes and rabbit were added. When fishing was a pain cause the timing was harder. When you would get the xp glitch and it would float around your head for a few mins. When bone meal was op and grow anything in one shot. When villages were kinda pointless cause their trades sucked. When you can’t place your bed next to a wall cause you would wake up trapped in one. I stoped played like 5 years ago and just stared again and it’s like totally different so many new things and me and my gf are building a really nice hose now I love it again
Y'all remember when Herobrine was the biggest thing? It was on the recommended page almost every day, tons of people would claim to see him while others would spawn him in with rituals. Not with mods, but with the vanilla game.

I can’t remember what version of minecraft I first played, would’ve been around 10, maybe close to 11, so 10 years ago now. Just starting to get back into it and it’s so much different it’s crazy.
I loved minecraft so much and still enjoy it, I remember when I first figured out stairs made a good roof. I made several 4x4 boxes out of brick and stairs up in the sky on an ugly bridge.

*Apples were as rare as cookies back then(dungeon loot aswell)
*Logs could only be places upwards
*oceans were max 8ish blocks deep
*Converting oak, spruce and birch logs into planks would only gove you oak planks
*cooking raw pork would give you steak
@Simon Valencia Back in the days when you cooked pork it would still give you cooked pork but it had the texture of steak(cow only dropped leather at the time).

My oldest saved texture file predates wool. I also have one version where I got very annoyed at breaking obsidian and changed the crack breaking animation to % status.
Coming into the craft again a few years ago after not playing since I was a kid was confusing when things didn’t work the same way, the Inv opening with e confused me the most

I remember playing side by side with my brother, watching a super old Yogscast Shadow of Israphel video and reaching my pinkie halfway across the keyboard to quickly throw a steak onto my hotbar after a creeper explosion.
I used to have very early version of Minecraft on my tablet. One day while building some stuff i noticed naturally spawned pink sheep. Covered it in the middle of my buildings and expanded all around. This was a good time

Pink sheep actually still spawn naturally in the current version (1.18). I created a new world and after I had built my house I walked around looking for sheep/cows/pigs/chickens. To my huge surprise, one of the first sheep I saw was pink! Of course I just HAD to get it back to my base.
I found a pink sheep 1 time. I caged it up with wood in a FOREST. It then died to a stupid wolf. I made sure he died.
Honestly, so many features still feel new to me. Elytra, the Woodland Mansion, Redstone Blocks, Comparators, Lapis enchanting, Slime Blocks... Ender Pearls working in Creative...
