  • I went out with the intent to purchase the CFMOTO 450 MT, the opportunity allowed a back to back ride, and I came away keeping the G310GS. There is no down side to the 450 MT, it's a complete, full package. The example here has aftermarket off road tires, full hand guards, upper body protection, OEM tall seat. very trick unit. It's not a comparison so much as an observation, and for me 80% off my riding is under 60kph, inner city urban, with some highway and bush trips. The G310GS handles everything well, and the 450 MT, handles things a bit better indeed. 6 Years difference from the launch of the G310GS until the 2024 450 MT. In a simple sentence, the CFMOTO 450 MT is the big thumper, and the BMW G310GS is the old school 2 stroke experience. This being said, over 4000kms on the G310GS and only 2 fairly short runs on 450 MT. if they talk about shaking up the market, the CFMOTO 450 MT is for sure doing this. Huge thank you to the tea, at K&J Thomas, I went out to tick a few box's in my mind and buy a bike, getting the relaxed 'country' experience allowed me to take my time, compare both bikes, and end up on what works best for me. I fully suggest getting out there and trying both bikes, and seeing what works for you, and perhaps asking yourself, what do you want to do, and also what do you actually do. Lots of options and adventures to be had.

I’m on a ‘23 310gs and after a year + of riding I’m happy but do debate upgrading. I think if I do my first look would be the Honda nx500 or cb500x. When I bought the 310gs I started out looking for the 500 but no one had any locally. The Honda dealer had me look at the cfmoto which was the first time I heard of them. All I did was sit on it and I never really gave it any consideration. I still don’t think I’d go for one. You give it a good look and I’m glad to see this. They give a lot of bang for the buck but I’m still cool on them. Great video. Thanks!

Cheers, it is quite something to see all the bikes that are about to choose from, compare and explore. Its quite something at times to look back at previous moments and wonder what could have been.. also like going through old motorbike magazines (or megs of other interests) and see the articles, once we would glance over, then down the track realise how on point / of interest they now are.

J.juan brakes on the CFmoto are a Spanish company owned by Brembo... they're not Chinese made.

Very interesting seeing the two bikes side by side like that. Think the 450 mt is the obvious choice for me now I’m trading in my big bikes for something a lot lighter and more nimble, who knows it maybe the unicorn we’ve been waiting for.

It could well be, The MT does fill lots and lots of riding areas

Interesting comparison. I have a modified g310gs with level 2 rally raid suspension etc...and I have a great time with it...but if I were buying a small adv bike again, I can't help but think the 450mt would be a no brainer. Do you think the 450mt offers enough to switch from your g310...or would you be looking at something more than the 450mt as a next bike?

I think side by side, there is about $600 diff to out towards the GS, and it will come down to comfort with shape/size of the bike, if ok with a longer bigger bike the MT, smaller / nimble the GS. As a solo rider the GS would get into less trouble, in a group ride perhaps the MT has more range/challenging potential…

How is/different the GS with the stage 2 and I am hissing the 20mm lift?

@ausetour500 as I am a taller rider, it sounds like the mt would've been a great option in this price and size range...but modding the g310 to work well for me has been a hoot! No regrets.

@ausetour500 the level 2 Rally Raid kit is a huge improvement over the standard bike. I don't think it's so much the extra travel and height, but more the improved spring rates and rear damper. I would say, yes, you are missing out... but it's then a question of how much you would miss the $2k. For me, I was bottoming out easily in rougher off-road stuff. Now, I can confidently get air under the wheels and land with only the rarest of bottom out events.

BMW needs to come out with a 500cc GS and take note of the 450MT and market direction.

they already came with a 450cc bike but it looked way too trail, I was waiting it wpuld be a gs adventure bike but no, but maybe they can later on use that 450cc motor and make a g450gs, that be nice.
