I haven't tried the collections port for the Switch, but I did play the original Working Designs version of CF2. Despite the fact that I agree with all your criticisms and opinions, I for some reason found myself somewhat entertained by the game. It was almost like a Stolkholm Syndrome type of feeling, I found the gameplay loop to be too simple and the combat had the strategic depth of a puddle, but I never found myself thinking of dropping the game or getting legitimately bored.
Me: Oh yay, new nurvuss video, the youtuber who introduced me to Hell Night, a game I am now weirdly obsessed with, I wonder what cool game I'll learn about this time! Me not long into video: Oh. Oh no. *succumbs to kusoge related PTSD*
@@nurvuss Because I am exactly the kind of JRPG sicko that this video is made for, I just want to play a bunch of garbage games now. Monster Seed replay, here I come!
Great stuff as always. I consider myself a JRPG freak but this is the kinda stuff that makes me shudder. I owe you a firm handshake and soft drink of your choosing for your bravery.
I'd never heard of Cosmic Fantasy before, or LaserSoft, or this nurvuss fellow, yet here I am almost two hours in on this weird journey, knowing more about an obscure set of JRPGs than I ever hoped to. I'm not sure that my life is better for this knowledge, but it was a fun romp anyway. I like the vibes that CF lays down, it's just a technical disaster. In some parallel universe where the visuals, voice acting, story and gameplay all came together, I can imagine people wistfully thinking back to Cosmic Fantasy as an underrated gem and exemplar of comfy '90s anime vibes. Sadly, that isn't how it played out in our universe. Great video. Subbed.
there's definitely....a LITTLE bit of something here? like you said, the character art and cutscenes give me a really warm late 80s/early 90s vibe like Ranma 1/2 or Kimagure Orange Road. but thank you for enjoying and taking an interest in my bologna!
I'm really sad they used the censored gesture from Rim when she first appears. I think my favorite part of Cosmic Fantasy 2 is how nearly every single enemy's battle sprite in no way matches the actual game screen sprite.
Thanks for this video, I had to give up halfway through Cosmic Fantasy 1 because I couldnt stand constantly losing all my progress when I died and not being able to save whenever I wanted. So I watched the "movie mode" and checked out this video to see what I missed! I'm gonna try Cosmic Fantasy 2 now then finish the other half of this video when I'm done with it. I wanna be all up to date for when the Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2 comes out in English which is supposed to be in the next few months. You gonna be picking that up when it comes out?
19:53 sorry to break it to you but you were playing the game wrong😂 Boldain can bascially one shot whole groups of random encounters. and Panaceas (heals HP/MP for the whole party) are so cheap that you should rely on spells heavily in this game. It’s the opposite of DQ/FF. there is no need for healing cause you’re owning everyone with offensive magic.
I just dubbed the Cosmic Fantasy movie in English on my channel using AI to morph the original Japanese voice actors. It turned out pretty good! Probably heresy to some purists, oh well! The original anime with subs is up on another channel if you wanna search for it!
skip to 1:13:00 for borscht
amd 1:13:46 for a very soft "aw hey"
aw shit I just got Borschtscared I wish I read the comments
be not afraid

Your narration is goat - superb enunciation and pacing - and the comedy is just right. I laughed riotously at the whole tent blunder.
you're too kind. i'm glad you enjoyed!

Amazing video and thanks for saving me a lot of money. Looking forward for your next video on Cosmic Fantasy Collection 2. 😅

unbelievable that's the only bit of the working designs version they used!
Thankfully Cosmic Fantasy 2 in Cosmic Fantasy Collection is the uncensored version of the game.
@@johnv7317 but it's not? We're literally talking about how the gesture is censored. It's in the video as censored.
The way these games constantly wipe your inventory is the closest a video game can come to wage theft.
fool me three times...uh....i'll see you at the item shop in cosmic fantasy 3
