Something super minor from the prologue. Iyashikei is older than isekai, it comes from a literary tradition. It's pretty much just Walden in japanese. Isekai tends towards it because most popular titles come from webnovels, and those are writen either by teens or salarymen. The later are the ones writing/reading those stories about dying of overwork and wanting to retire in fantasy land, while some of the teens are mimicking because you have to write what's popular. (You also see older people rethinking the power fantasy tropes that are mostly consumed by the younger readers) Something like Mushishi or Yokohama's Shopping District or Kino no Tabi are iyashikei without the isekai fantasy/action elements and they were all pretty popular.
The main thing that drove me through this game was seeing the gate in the background of every battle and wanting an explanation. Good job on the vid, amazed you could record anything on a day that hot.
I’m on the spectrum, but if anything, I didn’t find Kokoro offensive. Now everyone with autism is different, but I actually found some of what she says relatable. Sometimes I have thought it’d be easier to shut myself off because neurotypical people and me mix like water and oil. But I realized I’d be far more miserable if I didn’t interact with anybody ever again.
As someone who’s also autistic, I second this along with her said hedgehogs dilemma feeling like it stems from interpersonal ableism (ie. her friends being bullied cuz they’re friends with /her/) if that makes sense.
Liking and commenting for the algorithm. Also because this is exactly what I needed on a Friday morning. You're really good at video essays and I hope you do more.
Out of all the characters in the game, my favorite would have to be Shinya Yuda, the Holder of Faith. He's cold on the outside, but warm on the inside. He has an amazing in both the Japanese version and the English version. Also, he *does indeed* fit the *cat motif* as commented by Kokoro. But if Monark ends up getting a remastered version, then the working title for the remastered version of the game would be called *Monark: Psychosis*. Sharing its similarities with Shin Megami Tensei: If, the player will be given the option of choosing the protagonist to be either male or female. If chosen as female, the protagonist would probably have the same eye color. But her hair would be an apple green color. Like her male counterpart, she is also a homunculus made as a replacement for Yukimi Suzuki, a female counterpart of Takemori Suzuki. The four party members would be the same characters, but there would be three new party members added. Like Nozomi who represents Hope and Shinya who represents Faith, these three new party members would also represent other virtues, mainly Chastity, Temperance and Charity. The ones who represent Chastity and Temperance would be a pair of fraternal twin girls, good counterparts to the Tono twins. The one who represents Charity would be a girl named Yuka, who is also a middle school student, but in the same year as Chiyo. As for the allies, they would be the same characters, but there would be two allies introduced. One of them would be an adult around the same age as Kakeru, but is more mature in personality than Kakeru himself. His name would be Wataru Waseda, and is the Librarian at the Library Kokoro stays at. He allowed her to stay in the library out of the very thought and belief she likes the library due to her desire for knowledge. Well, he's only half right about Kokoro. As a bonus, should the protagonist visit him, he would give you tasks that involve school grounds such as helping any of the students or just helping him find textbooks about Philosophers. If the player/protagonist completes one of these tasks, then Wataru will reward them with Spirit ranging from 1000 Spirit to 5000 Spirit. As for the other ally and couple of new Pactbearers, that's another story for another time. But now, that's all I have to say. But aside from that, your made an amazing video. Awesome job, dude! Thank you for the video!
You've really thought about this! I think Shinya is probably my favourite character, too. Thank you for watching, your kind words, and sharing your ideas.
Thanks you for this video, tbh after 30 minutes, the gameplay didnt really appeal to me, and too much grinding. So you are really wonderful to puts all these hours to make this video
holy shit nurvuss, this video is amazing, why the fuck you only have less than a 1000 views?! Your description of Furyuu made me roll on the floor laughing like a idiot. Kudos to you my friend.
because i'm lazy and i haven't finished the videos i have in draft. we'll get there. truly you made my day though, thank you so much for your support and kind words. happy holidays to you!
I thought Caligula Effect 2 handled the trans characters and messages really well thought? I'm not trans so I can't be confident but it felt like it was done differently then most games and it was handled with care. Then again, the writers and such behind Monark and CE2 are very different.
What you said about the escapiam trend was noticed by me as well and kinda annoyed me, one of the reasons why I stopped to watch a lot of anime in the first place, even the ones without the isekai tropes would try to emulate the vibes every now and then. My first megaten game was persona 2 eternal punishment years ago, and to this day I resonate more with both Ulala and Katsuya than with ony other characters as both I have abandoned my dreams because I needed to take care of my responsabilities(Katsuya) and am inflicted by a huge sense of indignation and sometimes envy(Ulala) I kinda like the grit of those old games because I find catharsis in seeing someone with the same problem as me, overcoming it naturally and not through "magical friendship." As fot mainline SMT...CHAOS PATH! Aways chaos calls me the loudest. Even if I play it blind (never had played devil survivor to till the past week) I tend to get chaos endings(got Naoya route rigbt away lol)
5:22 for Comrade Suou

I watched your hellnight video, then this one, then filed a UA-cam bug report because the algorithm is obviously broken.
You and me both.
How dare YT fail to present this gem of a channel.
My thoughts exactly

Just finished watching the Hellnight video, so I had to come back here to show some love. I can’t wait to see what you tackle next!

Good vid. I like the part with the hot dog calmly talking into the microphone about a, uh, fascinating game
