- WE'VE MADE IT MY LOVES!! This entire season was the most wild ride, front to back, and honestly one of the best pieces of cinema out there rn! Such good social commentary, humor, character development, chaos, power exploration, long-awaited battle scenes, and MORE. I've had so much fun (and a lot of frustration lol) watching this with you, and I am so unbelievably anxious for season 4!!

Ryan leaving with Homelander in the end is 100% Butcher's fault in my mind, Butcher purposely severed his relationship with Ryan to "keep him safe" by creating distance, but in doing that he really hurt Ryan emotionally. And he never apologized to the kid for that. Homelander on the other hand, came to Ryan and actually comforted him as a father would. Of course Ryan would rather go with his father as opposed to the man who told him it was literally his fault that his mom died 😭💀 Butcher is going to have to salvage this relationship at some point otherwise we really will have another Homelander 2.0 on our hands 😂😂
lol you're right, that was such a bad move on Butcher's part! and yeah, it makes sense that Ryan would latch onto the first person to basically tell him everything he wants to hear, it's just soooo disappointing to see and nerve-wracking to imagine what will come of him being under Homelander's wing
@@everybodylovesrae_ Oh absolutely!! I agree, it's so tough to watch for sure, because Ryan's just a kid stuck in between looking for love and approval. Sadly right now he's getting it from the WORST possible person 😂😂 I'm nervous fr, next season under Homelander's wing UGH who knows what he'll do.
The interesting thing about the Michael Jordan bit from A-Train was early in Jordan's career after his shoes launched people were critical of him because he didn't speak out against injustice. I believe he famously said "Republicans buy shoes too."

theres an unfortunate theory that stormfront is homelander's biological mother, since she was around back then and knew soldier boy. It would also explain how Homelander is so powerful, being the child of two already overpowered supes.

Neither stormfront or soldier boy have the same characteristics as homelander, like blonde hair or blue eyes. At least in the series powers don't just transfer from one generation to another as we can see in Victoria Newman and stormfront's daughters. Even if soldier boy and stormfront new each other, I don't think he would really like her that much, considering that even if he's a fake soldier, he is still very patriotic and stormfront is, well, a Nazi. And the last point I can think of is that even if stormfront and soldier boy didn't dated and she just got inseminated with the sample soldier boy said he gave I don't think she would have just let the baby to vought considering that she already had a daughter that she raised and wouldn't have just let the opportunity go once she saw Homelanders features as earlier mentioned such as blond hair and blue eyes.

Ryans mom really showed him love, but also was mroe strict towards him and hid his abilities from him. Homelander is "father + fun," and is the only one he sees now, since his mom is gone and Butcher did him wrong. It's really his environment.
He's also at a prime age for trying out anything new, so it all compounds.
I don’t think Soldier Boy’s energy blast is “triggered” per se. I think that he has PTSD and HE’S triggered by anything that reminds him of his time as a prisoner, such as Russian music.

He's had the worst life out of all the people in the series and yet manages to keep the good part of him afloat even after being under appreciated all the time

Butcher did tell Ryan that it was his fault that Becca died, and Ryan said he hated him. Butcher didn’t go visit since and Homelander, now being comfortable about showing himself, tells Ryan that it was his fault. You need to watch what you say, words have power. This was Butcher’s fault, not Ryan’s

I get the vibe that the showrunners want to do maybe two more seasons with the current setup to wrap up this main story, but that will be tied into Gen V and another spinoff they’ve been talking about. As long as they keep the quality up like they have, I’ll be onboard
We've seen Victoria kill two supes LOL One at the congress hearing and the one in the very first episode of this season.
Also it was easy for Ryan to go to Homelander because Butcher blamed him for his mother's death and Homelander told him that was not his fault.
Homelander wasn’t BSing Ryan.
One thing about your Boys (and Gen V) reactions, beside the editing and sense of humour, is that you don't shy away from the political aspects of it. Which I feel is a crazy thing to say, since the show, is really biting and unsubtle about its politics and the commentary and jabs it throws. Yet... Like some people really don't like it when you point out Homelander being racist. To them, Stormfront is racist, and thats what racism is, Homelander may have flaws, but then they make up some weak excuse that doesn't actually invalidate his racism. Or some try to frame the show as "making fun at everyone". Its like their line or definition is so extreme, only a literal Nazi can occupy it, and if it ain't that, they go to the other extreme and think "if Homelander is racist, I guess everyone is, according to you".
Glad you seem to be enjoying The Boys as much as you did Gen V. I was a bit worried about Gen V at first, because I have been a fan of the Boys since its comic, and I consider the show a rare example, of an adaptation being far superior to the source (though a lot of that could be because of the spirit of satire, and the last decade or so of American political events and coverage being, well...).
That also being said, my personal fav thing about the Boys is its characters, and their interactions. Frenchie, Kimiko are so so sweet. MM, Annie, Maeve, are just the best. Butcher is one of the most nuanced and complicated characters, Hughie is endearing too, even if this season some of his insecurity came through. Even a lot of the antagonists are well written as far as having moments of development or just being scary as far as real life parallels. When this season originally came out, the finale was a bit poorly received, because of some of the plot points. Either way, still excited and hyped for the next season (Boys and Gen V). I don't think we will necessarily see as much as I would like, but I really want to see certain interactions with some Boys and Gen V characters. Imagine Annie and Kimiko trying to help Cate and Sam see people can be good, because of their experiences with people like Frenchie and MM.
One best thing about Homelander with Soldier Boy is that Stormfront maybe is his mother.

I think you see Homelander to one dimensional, yea he is a bad guy and the villain but he is far more complex than just that.
He loves Ryan, probably even more than himself.
He had definitly the worst life out of all these characters in the show and he didn't deserve that either.
He even has 2 different personas because of all his trauma.

He was just a little bit jealous because he was always bullied and weak. That's all. At the end, he didn't take the Temp V and instead helped her by turning all the lights up. And Annie is a hypocrite and worse. She killed an innocent dad and didn't even care or had remorse. I swear people like you watch TV shows with bias towards women's characters because there is no way you pick her based on what she did in the past and how horrible written she was this season. She is probably the worse written female character of the show. Emma, Marie, Maeve and Kimiko are leagues better than her.

Its not that homelander is racist, he hates EVERY human. The horrible part is humanity did that to him through his whole life. No love, no compassion....just tests. Nothing more than an experiment. Im not on his side but i see how he got there.
Nah, he hates humans, but he is racist. People who say he is not watched the show with their eyes closed and ear plugs or are just dumb. If you don't see that, you need to rewatch the whole show. He isn't a Stormfront-level racist, but he is racist.

It's really weird how Hughie was way more secure in not having powers in the first season and seemed to appreciate that Starlight was strong compared to now, I guess it's not completely out of nowhere but his "You want me to be the WEAK one" conflict kinda feels contrived for the sake of their broader conversation about toxic masculinity.

I would agree. I actually like what the show is saying about toxic masculinity, I just would have liked it better if they'd used a different character to show it than Hughie.

ooooh well I've loved both, but the boys has two extra seasons over gen v, so we've seen so much more with the storylines and characters, and for that, it's definitely the boys all the way (for now...?)

Pretty much. To me, it's like they wrote in a different character called him Hughie and got the same actor to play him. There's a way the story could have worked with Hughie but I think they messed up the characters' motivations and flaws this season.
