You are spot on when you spoke about the window of time most adhesives have when working with foil. I swear to God some of them are literally 3 minutes. So your standing over your project for 30 minutes checking how tacky it is. I hate that about working with foil, I am gonna have to check out the brand you used in this video. Thank You
Unbelievably cool!!! Wow!! I am beyond happy that I found you!! You never fail to amaze me and inspire my creative side! Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!
I just realized you have foils one could actually use cause the sheet is big enough. I am so excited and I am about to go to the website , I just really hope I can afford it, lol.
New subscriber here! I love ❤️ your work and find your tutorials very informative. I’ve been using Stonecoat for a while and you’ve given me so many great ideas. Now I’ve got to get my hands on some foils!
I bought a 100' roll of one of the foils & so excited. Please let us know how many Oz per sf of their countertop epoxy should we be using for the first application (before a final clear flood coat)?
Hi Rhonda! I had a feeling you were experienced with Faux work. I went to Faux school in Kentucky in 2004. So that exactly why I think I was so drawn to Epoxy!
Are there foil patterns available that are suited for kitchen countertop? Instead of creating the marble or granite look using metallic powder and paint, great to have something that can give the look with little effort and guaranteed to succeed.
APS has an array of patterns. Not sure if there are any real suttle patterns. There are definitely some softer solid colors that would be great for a base, then you could do neat finish over the top. That's actually on the list of video ideas I have for UA-cam. You can check out APS foils at bit.ly/RK3Designs_ Thanks for watching!!!! I really appreciate it!
All of your videos are fantastic. Love all the different techniques. These foil/epoxy projects turned out amazing....I am wondering if I could use foil and epoxy on a kitchen countertop???
I've been wondering if epoxy would work over gold leaf. This looks like an awesome and more interesting option! Thanks Rhonda for sharing your art with us and I am going to check out Jennifer's offerings on foils. It looks so fun!
I have used foil with epoxy but before I place epoxy on the foil I will seal it with something like Mod Podge, just a even coat you won't even notice it under the epoxy. I use the high gloss Mod Podge.
I’m new to your channel, beautiful work. What top coat would you recommend if you don’t use epoxy? Also can you foil over a mirror? Thank you love this!!!
I love your countertop I painted my cabinets lagoon blue and now we have to start our countertoos but I'm stuck. I'm not sure if to do black and white or marble with gray vaining I just don't want it to be boring looking please help!!!!
Yeah!!! Thank you!! No, it has to be an adhesive that will allow the foil to be released from the plastic that it’s fused onto. Regular glue or modge podge won’t do that.
Hey There. Nope, I reuse my brushes all the time, especially in our classes. Just drop them in a airtight bucket of Acetone. Just leave them there until you’re ready to use again. If you try to rinse out they will just get hard. Just take them out of the bucket, shake off a bit then reuse. The small amount of acetone that’s in the brush won’t hurt your epoxy. 😊
I want to put imitation gold leaf on my kitchen countertops. Not the transfer type. What sealant/epoxy would you recommend? I want to make sure it is heat and water resistant and won’t tarnish.
I want to do this to my kitchen table. Thank you for explaining it so well! Does it look very different if you don’t crumple it up first? Or is that just for ease of use? Thanks!
@ holly etzweiler I LOVE ❤ these foils. I bought the foil adhesive and some of the foils a while ago. I have a wooden tray that was painted years ago and I wanted to use the foils to give it a vintage look, just like the tray shown here. So, I stripped off the old paint and then used black primer to paint the entire thing. After painting on the primer, I applied 2 coats of black acrylic paint. Then, when the tray was dry, I applied the foil adhesive (I painted the adhesive on so that it didn't go into the corners or to the edges and made sure that the adhesive didn't have a hard outline, so I could get a vintage look.) And I crumpled up the foils before placing them down on the tray. It looked really cool 😎 👌 😄! Anyway, I varnished my piece and then aged it more with some of Dixie Belle's 'Best Dang Wax' in Black. I love ❤ Dixie Belle's products as well. I'll definitely be doing more projects with these foils.
Decorative foil is more like what we use on furniture, walls etc. and is removed from the plastic backing with a foil adhesive. The other type of foils requires and adhesive and added heat and is mostly applied to textiles (fabrics)
Absolutely! My whole bathroom (countertops, shower walls) and laundry room is cheetah print foil. Email me and I’ll send you pictures. Rk3designs@gmail.com
Are you talking about the foils or the epoxy? I believe Jennifer from Artistic Painting Studio can ship internally. As far as epoxy? I’m not sure what to recommend because I’m not sure what you have available to you. I’m sorry.
RK3 Designs just checking. I have been using scc for about 2 years now. I did my countertops and now I’m doing resin art.i asked because I have tons of other tints and pastes some being translucent. I do use scc base coats and I love the effects I get. Anyway love your channel and would love to know when you will be doing an epoxy class.

Love the look but stress the importance of protective gear, you only wear gloves no respirator and gloss over wearing protection it needs to be first and front in your videos.
Actually the epoxy that I use does not require a respirator. I used Stonecoat countertop epoxy which has zero VOC’s! and is extremely safe! Also anyone that is watching these videos should take it upon themselves to research and find out what proper PPE they should be using based upon the product they are using. That is not my responsibility to make sure people take care of their health. That’s on them. I appreciate you watching. 😊

You bet!! 😊😊
That was cool. I didn't know about foils. They remind me of gold leaf. Hummm. Got me thinking.
Clara Lawrence I absolutely LOVE the foils! So much easier and cleaner 😂😂 than leafing.
Thank you. I just asked you about foils yesterday. Thank you so much for your kind help. You are awesome ❤

Thank you so much. ABSOLUTELY. I did a whole kitchen with foils in a kitchen. Turned out stunning! !

Great idea :-) Love your channel. Tuning in from the UK! Do you need to use ultimate top coat on the tray or only on countertops and shower panels?
You can use UTC for added protection, but you definitely don’t have to.
Love the foils. I know the supplier is a friend. Could you please post her site?
Amazing I love to do my wood tv stand but their so many steps
Nice work 👌😊👍🌹🌺🌍🇭🇷
Thank you!! 😊
I’m new to your channel, beautiful work. What top coat would you recommend if you don’t use epoxy? Also can you foil over a mirror? Thank you love this!!!
I would use the topcoat from General Finishes. It can be rolled or sprayed. 😊.
This looked like a fun way to add interest to resin art! I placed an order....can’t wait to try it! Thank you!
Yeah!! Have fun!! 😊
Thanks for the creative tips!!

I would decide if you want to darken or lighten the space you’re in. How big is your space? If it’s small I would keep it on the lighter side. 😊
Love this, what glue did u use please, for the foil to adhere to
It’s a foil adhesive I get from Artistic Painting Studio. It’s by ArtsyVille

Have a doubt ...
Instead of gliding glue can we use mod podge or Elmer's glue ❓
Yeah!!! Thank you!! No, it has to be an adhesive that will allow the foil to be released from the plastic that it’s fused onto. Regular glue or modge podge won’t do that.
@@RK3Designs Thank you 😊
Does this technique work well in endure use in the kitchen?
Absolutely. Just be sure to put a clear flood coat followed by the Ultimate Top Coat. The durability is incredible!!!!
Good videos!!! Can I use any kind of adhesive, or is this glue for "gilding"? 👍👍👍👍

is this the only adhesive can be used? can u decoupage or elmers white glue
It needs to be a specific adhesive because it has to pull the design off the plastic backing.
Great look! Do you have to throw away your brushes after adhesive coat? Or can you wash? Thx

You don’t have to crinkle at all. I just like the vintage look it gives. The foils are so easy to you and very easy to fall in love with 😊😊😊

Decorative foil is more like what we use on furniture, walls etc. and is removed from the plastic backing with a foil adhesive. The other type of foils requires and adhesive and added heat and is mostly applied to textiles (fabrics)
What do you use to wipe epoxy off your gloves?
Isopropyl alcohol.
Would this process work on grey book binding board?
Can you use any adhesive
It needs to be specifically for foils.

Do you have to paint the tray first
Yes. 👍🏼
Can this technique work on bathroom counter top?

Fairly soft
can you use these foils on a canvas?
You can!! 😊😊

Can you foil over an epoxy surface? How?
Yes. Scuff sand, paint the desired bar color then proceed as normal.
HELLO MAM,
WHAT IS THE GUM YOU USE ON BASE ?
PLEASE TELL.
Here's a question I bet you've never been asked.....once you lay the foil down, can you epoxy over it without removing the plastic backing?
I wouldn’t recommend that. You could have adhesion issues.
Are stonecoat micas opaque?
Hey there Cheryl. SCC micas are very dense and can easily tint your epoxy to a heavy opaque coverage for sure.
