    What I do find stupid is, after doing both my A2 and full licence, the test is exactly the same. Why do I have to do the same test twice just for more power. You can't use that power in a car park going around cones, it's just the government find more ways to rip off bikers, whilst I only had one test in a car and could hop into any car I could afford to insure

    • @RobBroderick44
      @RobBroderick44 6 років тому +70

      Sam Grattan Yep the full licence test is retarded, you don't even ride bigger bikes than the A2 ones. They should put more emphasis on the road part...

    • @ridingwithsam
      @ridingwithsam 6 років тому +46

      RobBroderick44 but even then there's no difference. You can't go any quicker in the test, and the bike I rode had alot less pick up then my restricted MT07

    • @kgsz
      @kgsz 6 років тому +20

      This is incorrect, RobBroderick, for unrestricted A category you must ride bike more powerful than A2-compliant bike.

    • @RobBroderick44
      @RobBroderick44 6 років тому +13

      Well, you're right, but the reality is not good looking. It depends on the school you're taking your A license. A lot won't bother and will give you the same bike (MT-07 for example) you got for the A2 training/exam. I'm not even sure the bikes are full power when you pass the A test.
      My point is, they should make an effort and lend bigger machines (like an fz-08 for example) so you can experience and harness those because, you will ultimately (for most ppl with A licence anyways) buy one.

      It's being changed this year. if you've done the a2 licence to get an a licence you've got to ride like 7 hours with an instructor to show that your still safe on the roads

    The license rules in England are just shit.
    Got to do a Mod 1 & mod 2 to pass your A2 in which you end up with a full license restricted, yet 2 years later you still have to do mod 1 & mod 2 AGAIN to get any bike you want.
    With car licenses you can just jump straight into any car you want..providing you can afford insurance.
    2 years after passing A2, your license should be auto derestricted

    • @otpwindblade6369

      Bro, in Bulgaria , you have to take a theory exam and a 2 stage practical exam for A2 licence. After 2 years you have to do the same in order for you to get your A licence. But if you have a B licence already (before starting A2) you can skip the theory exams on all A categories.

    Have to admit, I'm one of the weirdos that actually really enjoyed my training and tests, I love being outside my comfort zone! I did mine a few years ago at age 39 (last time I'd ridden anything was 20 years before!). Passed it & jumped on a 1000cc second-hander the very next day, and my insurance was under £150.
    Being an old git has few perks, but that's one of them.

      jony walabi I'm not sure about modern licensing as when I took my test it was before the law changed, all I remember is I did my CBT and theory, did a 5 day intensive course and took my full bike test, things have gotten more complicated since I passed is my understanding but I never looked into it.

    • @FinalDecap
      @FinalDecap 6 років тому

      It's now basically; CBT > Theory ( or theory > CBT ) > mod 1 (off road handling) > mod 2 (road ride).
      That applies for going from no license to any license level and age restricts what license level you can obtain pretty much.

    Here we have cones around the figure of 8 to limit the size, increasing the difficulty significantly. We also have to drive really slow between 2 markers for 12 seconds and also do an emergency brake test.

    Hi guys, I'm from Belgium and we have quite the different A2/A motorcycle exam...
    We have a couple more features we have to do. You have to memorize them and perform them in a fluent motion.
    The video (I will put a link to) is the exact course and the exact order of performing these features you have to do (in Belgium), you have to do this without putting your feet down except for the precision braking test and the emergency braking test.
    The motorbike used in this video is a BMW 750 GS. They are used for the A2 as well as the A examinations (at this specific instruction school). Only difference is for the A2 exam you drive a 750 GS that is mechanically limited to 35 KW. The limitation is through installing a different cylinder head that does not allow the valves to open completely. This does not affect the motorbike's handling capabilities, it only affects top speed and acceleration (you do have full rev range which is fun :p). Also the test is the same for your full license A only the bike is not mechanically limited to 35 KW but has the full 70 or something KW. I know this because I have done my A2 obliged lessons at this exact instruction school.
    Here the link to video:
    ua-cam.com/video/gR_KvXpO27g/v-deo.html
    P.S. I passed the test first time. It is relatively easy when you practice and know the course.

    Brilliant stuff, i have just had to redo my mod 1 and mod2 to upgrade from my A2 license to a full A recently , was enough but as a first time rider when i did it for my A2 was very nervous like. Great video as always

    I just had my test this weekend, and although I have plenty of experience, I felt I was still a little nervous and shaky in some of the slow parts. I am very critical of myself, but seeing this makes me feel much better. I was the only one in a class of ten to get a perfect score!!! And I went first on every test throughout the evaluation!

    Passed my full A (DAS) about 4 years ago.Failed the mod1 first time around on the avoidance. Just watching this stressed me out, like being back there! I was 35, driven all my life but I was so nervous!!

    Ha! Happy days. April 1990, a pursuit test on a far from stock RD125LC, Clip-ons, Micron, Skimmed and bored head, in the pissing rain, on the diesel drenched back streets of Birmingham. I`d never been so scared on a motorcycle before or since.

    The U-Turn was my scary point. The minute I did it with about 3 foot to spare (the best I'd done in all my time of training), I was like "YES!", the rest was easy after that!

    Don't think I've ever been so bloody nervous as when I took my test in august last year. I passed, but the maneuver-courses were an absolute nightmare to watch before you got to them yourself.

    Have a fail for both riders in the U-turn. Neither used their indicators lol. "Treat it like you are on public roads" means you have to indicate when you change direction :3

      Not true. I passed about a year ago without indicating on the u turn. I was also never told to, no one even ever mentioned it.

    That manual handling from Fagan had me rocking in my chair. Wheeling it straight across into the next box and facing the wrong way. Classic, fucking classic. totally agree though, being watched can really throw you off if you let nerves get the better of you.

      I did my tests in the states back in 98, it was pretty easy. Only one I didn't like was the u-turn but I was on a gixxer 600. Is it harder now? Back then, you did the paper test at the secretary of state and then signed up for the parking lot test. Glad I never took my cycle endorsment off my licesne lol

      Where and when was the gruesome 5 car pile-up accident that occurred because someone put their foot down whilst making a u-turn in a parking lot? The dmv wouldn’t just waste our time with a pointless test and charge us for it without reason, would it? That’s impossible. Government agencies do everything else so efficiently. 🤪
