Eurovision is my passion. Eurovision was my work and I am still gladly part of the professional community of this project. I started at Eurovision 2016 as Czech Head of Delegation. Such a Eurovision story! Form Eurovision in Sweden I went to antoher ESC experience. Kiiv 2017 Eurovision. This was my first and last failiur. Sometimes you need to learn trough losing even it is not plasant. We ended up 13 in the semifinal, second best score of Eurovision Czechia back then. But after this we established ESCZ national selection format. It was mostly held online. Because of this we found Mikolas Josef who went 6th at Eurovision 2018 in Portugal. Than 11th with Lake Malawi, at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Eurovision story is crazy. After finding all candidates and songs (-1) for ESCZ 2020 I resigned and left the television for working freelance.
Not to stop being part of Eurovision, I created this channel as I have an urge not to do just Eurovision Reactions from a different perspective. But also to do national selection reactions, watch others how they do their craft and also give a different approach for Eurovision fans.
I am very glad was part of many eurovision juries. Mostly in national selection and since 2017 I was in MGP Norway, Eurovision Malta, UMK national selection Finland. Juror in Melodifestivalen 2016. Biggest national selection. Also helped Eurovision Ireland, Eurovision Estonia, Eurovision Azerbaijan and many others.
Just amazing to be part of this community, so check my Humans of Eurovision, check my Eurovision reaction videos.

People in authority need to be fair and treat all artists and delegations by the same rules. If they cannot do that it will continue to cause acrimony.

That comes also that all countries should respect the rules of the contest.

Jan, please do your research. You only made a report on this paper only from the EBU and just assumed that the other parties involved were in the wrong. There are currently countries so angry that they left the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 and im not just talking about 2-4 countries. Im fairly certain I know the situation around one of the involved parties better than you since I've been following it from the start.

Controversial Opinion but I think any country at war (yes, even Ukraine) should not be allowed to compete in Eurovision. I know we are all united that Ukraine is not in the wrong but a) Its Rear that One side is clearly not in the wrong when a country is at war and b) If you allowed Ukraine because people are united that they are not in the Wrong sets a Precedent that will inevitably cause controversy. I get that Eurovision is a contest for Broadcasters but the Broadcasters represent the Countries and are funded by the Governments so they Basically are a part of the Government. Also If I asked you (as an example) who did Olly Alexander Represent at Eurovision in 2024 chances are you will say the UK or the United Kingdom (The Country). You probably wont say that he represented the BBC (The Broadcaster)

    • @JanBors
      @JanBors  28 днів тому +1

They would need to completely rewoke all about EBU as a broadcaster is not a country. Basically broadcasters compete under the country flag, not countries themselfs.

I predict a lot of whining about silencing and censorship from some fan media. Also, I think even though it doesn't say so upfront they will be stricter about substances moving forward. I think some of the incidents this year were caused by artist under the influence.

The biggest cause of unrest at ESC2024 was Israel’s participation while it was slaughtering ten of thousands of people it had absolutely no evidence were involved in that terrible attack in October and the Israeli actions turned the world’s sympathies into world condemnation. With Israel not being there the contest would not have had any problems at all. Saying so is monumentally stupid that “substances” were the cause is ridiculous and pathetic. The bullying was real and the largest number of complaints were about the Israeli delegations actions, the Israeli complained about others yes but without evidence but there were countless video documented accounts of the Israeli delegation film other artist without permission and of trying to goad a response that the Israeli would then use to form a complaint falsely implying the Israelis were the innocents.

@@b5bobby With all undue respect, beyond your false numbers/facts and your false framing of this conflict (that the government of Gaza alone started and chooses to continue fighting despite the costs to its civilian population) - you are simply showing that you are not only clueless about this specific war but also clueless about how urban warfare is conducted and the limitations of any army in dealing with an unscrupulous terrorist militia using its own civilian population as human shields and collateral damage. Sorry, your naivete might come from a supposedly good place, but for the people of Israel, such naivete means death. Actual experts in urban warfare, like Prof. John Spencer, praise the Israeli army for having gone above and beyond and more than any army in modern history to reduce as much as possible the civilian casualty number vs combatants.
War always entails unintended civilian casualties on both sides - it is indeed a travesty that the government of Gaza, Hamas, has declared war on Israel and invaded Israel on October 7th, fully expecting the repercussions.
I wish you had more humility to not grandstand online and lecture your uninformed "opinions", but here we are, with a perfect specimen of our times. Dunning-Kruger QED.
I am saying in advance that I will not waste time responding to you further. There is no point in arguing with pretentious and arrogant know-nothings who lack any self-awareness of how embarrassingly silly they sound.

@@JanBors in the case of Israel, the government was 100% involved and colluding with the Israeli delegations and Israeli media’s bullying and the Israeli government’s money was paying for the adds to get non ESC watching people to vote, I know this is fact because several people I work with, in the Jewish faith who do not like ESc got ad targeted at them and they copied their phone screenshot to show me, as when if said this was going on they did not believe me until these ads appeared on their screen. If the delegations and media and government of Israel wasn’t breaking actual EzbU rules then the rules are wrong! But given the EBU cracked down on other they could have treated all participating broadcaster equally but it was a one way street. As for Israel being democratic, Israel is an apartheid country that is routinely stealing more and more land that is not their own building settlements on Palestinian land they currently occupy. Within Israel proper there were over 1000 Palestinian villages that the Israeli planted trees in the now abandoned but forcefully evicted or intimidated out original owners, the villages have effectively been obliterated from visible history. As to broadcasters controlling their artists and delegations, it seems to me you only are interest in doing so when they are not Israelis, they get a complete free pass, will you even acknowledge anything that the Israeli delegation, its media and government did that breaks the rules or spirit of the rules?

Some artists fell into narcissistic trap, thinking, since they got the stage, the world is interested in their "very important" political opinions. And so they acted childishily and got busy explaining their rejection of Israel or their "very important" sexual identity. The most horrible artists in this respect were from: the Netherlands, Ireland, Greece, Portugal and Switzerland. Yes, even the winner transgressed the decency by his (yes, his, not their!) trans/non-binary flag. Stick with your country's official flag! Let's have more adult rules next time please. Again, you're 100% right, Jan! And here are some professional artists who acted like grown-ups, they were from: Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Czechia, Luxemburg, Israel and Latvia.

@@b5bobbydo your research before saying something, most of those countries didn't do such terrible stuff and the Netherlands did nothing wrong at all even if the EBU says so, Joost was approached by someone who was recording him behind stage which wasn't allowed and he told this person to stop and pushed the camera away since this person didn't respect the rules and Joost his privacy when he left the stage. This video was made looking only at one side of the story and not the other which is quite unfair, it's just assuming he's wrong because the EBU says so.

Annoyingly your analysis can be spot on and at other times be way off base. Firstly Israel should never have been allowed to entry while it was involve in fighting in lands it doesn’t own, A clear rule that doesn’t need interpretation would settle this once and for all. Once the EBU allowed Israel’s entry it meant the ESC was going to end up in disrepute, the EBU says when Ukraine artists and delegations mention its country ongoing fight to keeps it homeland free from Russian aggression is humanitarian. Why them isn’t an artist calling for a ceasefire and peace also allowed too as a humanitarian statement, the double standard on this is stark and hasn’t been addressed at all. I am 100% sure that the atmosphere would have been greatly improved if Israel had simply not entered. All the issues that fans and social Media and artist faced with regard to bullying would never have materialised if Israel wasn’t there. Likewise the fiddling of the public vote by the Israeli government’s target ad campaign costing millions aimed at people not watching the event but sympathetic to Israel has been completely ignore but it’s a blue print for any rich nation to cheat. I fear you are blind to any criticism of Israel even though millions of Jews around the world and in Israel believe the Israeli government’s action are not what they want to see. If Israel had not entered, it would have found it so much easier to reenter once the fighting was over but now its actions have entrenched views and policy decision around West Bank settlements are going to be bought up and I can see Israel being out of ESV for decade or a growing number of countries will just stop entering. The last contest was the smallest for a while and I can’t see that number increasing anytime soon.

You know, thats life and imagine you are public broadcaster, which means, you don't have an agenda, your goal is to inform about everything. Than you have an union who has this as a purpose and overseeing all if they don't go againts such principles, to be independent and objective. Than you have an entertainment, where politics should not even take place but of course on such scale its innevitable. And than also you have viewers, who's opinions might differ, some is Russia fan, some Ukraine, some Israel, some Palestinian and lots somewhere in the middle. For all of those you are doing it.
So first, read something about why Russia was expelled from the whole EBU (and all countries agreed), why Belarus and why Ukraine and Israel is not, or Azerbaijan. I will help you, because in first cases the television were used as a propaganda on every level and also against EBU members. In other cases, it was not used and whenever there was a problem or possible violation, televisions find a way to solve it. Where Russian and Belarusian broadcasters refused. Basically televisions were banned for not respecting EBU rules and principles.
Israel and others did respect it. And a huge surprise, those televisions and its employees dont wage wars, governments are doing.
And then one huge thing - which is most important - it is again done for anyone. Can you imagine what would happen if EBU and if Israel is banned? Even maybe only minority of EBU countries wanted this. Because EBU cannot work on one sided minority againts someone. Who would be canceled next? This is not how democracy can work, that few artists, delegations and some fans and prosters can cancel and ban anyone just because they dont share its opinions or just dont like it. Its not a public court, judges. Can you imagine how dangerous this would be?
People who f.e. likes and support Israel are also there, and in Czechia is a huge majority for example. You would take their right to have Israel there? Or Czechia if you dont agree with?
This is why this dont belong to Eurovision. Also because its an entertainment show and everyone involved should understand what that means. Also that its a public service and not commercial tv station which can have direct opinion.
