🇸🇪 Eurovision 2024 host Petra Mede on "We Just Love Eurovision Too Much" and more (INTERVIEW)

- In May, Petra Mede will host the Eurovision Song Contest for the third time. The comedian, singer, actress and presenter tells us about her decision to return - and what it's like working with her co-host Malin Åkerman. She also teases "We Just Love Eurovision Too Much," the follow-up to "Love Love Peace Peace," which she's worked on with director and writer Edward af Sillén. Our interview ends with a moving discussion of Petra's early years as a ballerina - and the injury that changed her life forever. She tells us how she got back on her feet and offers advice for anyone struggling to get back to work.

The icon of the whole Eurovision
Yes. Legendary
Just her being on the stage means a lot. She should not have any pressure to deliver anything extraordinary this year.
Her presence is, as you say, more than enough 🤩
She is one of the few Eurovision hosts EVER who has actually benefitted the contest EVERY TIME

I think it's so important to mention Edward af Sillén, when talking about Eurovision 2013 and 2016 being sucessful.
Petra gets the spotlight, and she's great as a host, but a confident, funny and calm host, has a lot to do with the script and direction from a great director and writer. People celebrate Måns and Petra for "Love Love, Peace Peace", rightfully so, but I feel that Edward af Sillén should be mentioned in the same breath as them, because he wrote it.
Everyone celebrates that Petra is back, me too, but most of all I'm so grateful that Edward af Sillén is!
This is so true . Edward has a real knack with Eurovision - as the Swedish commentator when Sweden isn't hosting , and the scriptwriter when they do . I'd like to see him present the thing ..

I agree! That was my main concern. Who will write this script? And when I heard that Edward af Sillén is going to do it than I was calm and content. And when they annonced that Petra is back! Wow! And I'm so curious about the interval act "We just love Eurovision too much"! It's going to be great!

I just love Petra. She can host Eurovision every year. Petra, along with Måns, Edward af Sillén and Christer Björkman are all geniouses.
She and Mans had excellent chemistry. You could tell she was so much more confident than him and she helped him through and it was great😂
The first question I asked myself after Sweden won last year, was please can they ask Petra Mede to host again? I was SO glad she said yes! For me, Eurovision 2016 remains the contest for me, where things went up a notch in JUST how Eurovision should be hosted. I know people weren’t that keen on Måns, but I actually really liked the camaraderie between them. Just hope Petra doesn’t put too much pressure on herself hosting this time round, as although she makes it look easy, when hosting to x hundred million people that can’t be an easy thing to do! Good luck Petra, so glad you’re back! 😀

Actually, Lill was born in Helsinki, Finland. She grew up in Sweden thoughand indeed, her hosting in 1985 was iconic.
If Australia ever win the contest, I propose that Sweden and Germany co-host so that we get Petra Mede and Anke Engelke. Perfect hosts!
Sweden's secret recipe for making delicious and memorable interval acts: large amounts of cheese and ham, served on a thick foundation of self-deprecating pride, gratinated with plenty of in-jokes and back-references. Roast gently. Serve, and enjoy together with invited friends and neighbours.
