I have been untangling my flag almost everyday. i went to Menards and got the 1" thin wall PVC. and it worked great. At first I used a thicker wire to connect the flag to the PVC, but it kept it from spinning freely. I actually just replaced my flag for Memorial Day. It looks great. Thank You, And God Bless America!!!
Finally! One that works great and not look crazy. I've seen videos with padlocks, binder clips etc. While the seem to worked per the video they weren't very aesthetically pleasing. Thank you!
Did this today! Best solution on UA-cam! Very well explained. Made it easy to do! Used white nylon spacers so it blends in with the white of the flag pole. Looks and works awesome 👌!
Absolutely genius. Works like a charm! *Just a note to add: the brand Seasonal Designs flags sold at Home Depot have a rivet at the top of the sleeve. We drilled a hole about an inch from the top of the PVC, and use a zip tie through the rivet and hole then over the rim of the PVC to attach the flag. We have found they are good quality flags, too.
Robert Snider I fly your (Canada) flag occasionally, as I am proud of our relationship. Tho it DOES fly below the US flag due to our respectful code when flown together... I assume you do the same (Canada on top, in your circumstance). I'm seeing this patriotic effort dwindling, sadly... saddens me to not have folks remember our fallen heroes, who gave it all to keep us safe & keep foreign warrior "boots" & destruction off our soil. Methinks our younger generations are losing touch with the proud history that preceded them... I pray they do not repeat the husband & son robbing a family that wars incur.
So, I was beyond frustrated with this problem. I would un-furl the flag, and within 1 hr it was wrapped around itself again. Searching for a solution here and came upon the PVC pipe or magnet solution. I did not have the magnets, but I happened to have a closet rod (had just done my closet) and tried this trick (but without drilling a hole). I just inserted the closet rod into the flag, over the flag pole and held the rod with a zip tie. It works! It has been more than 24 hours and have not had to un-furl the flag. I have seen it fold over, but will fix itself quickly :)
They were plastic spacers from a tv mount. You can use a nut, a short piece of tubing like from a pvc faucet supply line or any smooth surface you can put a screw through.
So….wait. If it is tied in place…..what is to keep it from wrapping around. This set up is essentially the same as a flag on a pole without any spinners so the flag is just going to wrap around because the PVC pipe isn’t going to spin just because the flag goes up and wraps around…..I don’t get it
Yes, there is a keeper at the top. However an earlier model I made w/out the keeper never flew off. If it’s windy enough to blow off the rod it probably should have come in for the day.
Ok wait. The problem with the normal flag is that there’s no spinners and that the wind just blows it in wraps around on yours you show the PVC pipe having a zip tie attached to it and then that holds the flag together so that means the flag itself can’t spin so it’s just like a normal flagpole I don’t see how it wouldn’t wrap around?

It's ironic that this video itself is emblematic of simple American ingenuity. Many thanks Mr Hardware

Mr. Hardware is the MAN!!!

Happy Flag Day! Great video

Great idea! Will have to try this with my Canadian flag up here in New Brunswick, Canada.

It only works on the stars and stripes eh. 😁
Outstanding vid, I’ll use your idea/method. Thank you for sharing.
Great idea! Thanks a million Mr. Hardware! I can't wait to go get my PVC pipe to go along with my new flag which keeps wrapping around the pole.
Genius. Thank you.
This anti flag furling hack works 100 %. Thank you. I keep looking out the window to check the flag but no furling all day. 👌
I will be trying this today.
yea u need 2 try that
Thanks I'm trying that 👍👍
I will have to try that mine is always wrapping around the pole. Thanks
Thank you.....great solution
Thanks , it's very easy to do and works
Thank you can’t wait to try it

So what are the "stoppers" or spacers you used on the bottom of the pvc sleeve to keep it at the top of the flagpole?
They were plastic spacers from a tv mount. You can use a nut, a short piece of tubing like from a pvc faucet supply line or any smooth surface you can put a screw through.
I'm not sure what the green zip tie is for? I guess so the flag doesn't bunch up on the pvc?

I did it without tying it. It worked for me without tying it.
But will it stay and not fly off in a big wind ????

Your neighborhood looks like it’s in Florida, at Spanish Lakes.
COOL I NEED 2 TRE THATI HAVETHE SAME PROBLOM
I would've like to see the flag actually 'not wrapping around the pole' in action but I have to take your word for it instead, not very helpful.
My word is my bond, it works great!

Thanks. I'll try it on my BLM flag.
