Good Luck with your Project I just completed this swap and I love it. It was fairly simple. Rear Driver Coil will hit Brake booster. If you use Headers, you will get heat soak into the Starter, I'm still trying to fix that may get mini starter, I did do a starter wrap and its still happening.
Hey! Thanks for watching and sharing that helpful info. I was going to cover that in the next video lol. I think I was able to resolve my heat soak starter issues on a previous impala ls swap, the car sold shortly after experimenting but I belive everything worked out well. I had the headers ceramic coated and used a mini starter. I wasn't driving it hard but cruising around, traffic, or any other situation where heat wasn't able to get pulled away from it like during highway speeds seemed to be fine. Every since then I do ceramic coated on all of my headers to help with that. Haven't had any issues since under normal driving conditions. Do you have anyone local to you who does jet hot coating or ceramic coating?
@@RahFree - I ceramic wrap then and did a wrap on starter and still getting heat. Next im going to try mini starter do you have mini starter part number you used? Thanks
@@smithmj2010 oh wow! I'm surprised your still getting that kind of heat with that combination. Out of curiosity, what mounts are you using? I'll have to check and see what starter I used previously, it was either a Powermaster or Sikky, I wanna say it was a Sikky starter. I'll see if I can find some pictures or receipts on it. I'm curious if you try different mounts to get the header away from the Starter if that would help.
@@RahFree i used original mounts and raised them 3/4 in and ls plate. The headers connect right next to starter and i had the gasket blow and burned the trans wires. Guy that helped with putting trans end did not put the complete gasket back. I see you are not to far from Chicago and in low rider seen. I built mind more like restro mod.
It's a Kobalt compressor from Lowes, got it a few years ago, the sand blaster keeps it working hard but it doesn't require a 220 outlet and that's what sold me, it's very portable and works great in the storage unit.
@@RahFree any vibration while driving? I've seen a lot of people say you need to cut the frame to lower the engine or drive line angles will be off and cause vibration, I really don't wanna cut my frame but I'm dropping a twin turbo LS into my 63 and I don't want vibration issues w the kind of hp I'm making
@@louisward3654 their website will have you verify the trans style also, they do trans mounts too, along with fuel tank, pumps, etc. Quite a few solutions available from them. You will need to relocate the coils though, they won't clear the driverside brake booster. It's not a difficult process.

I keep finding extra stuff to throw in with the car but it's coming along pretty well now. Just needs wheels installed and some odds and ends and it'll be ready for the winner to finish to their liking. This process takes a little longer get than expected doing it by myself and juggling family and work. It's coming along nicely though!

What air compressor did you use to blast the frame that was strong enough. I need to get the same one

Did you have to cut the front crossmember for the oil pan to clear?
No cutting required. F BODY LS1 oil pan and good mounts are very helpful for a good fit though.

@@louisward3654 I'm not sure what mounts those people used but the F body LS oil pan and the mounts I used have never caused that problem for me.
