You are my go to chef when it comes to Mexican cooking, there hasn't been a single recipe that I've followed that hasn't impressed this white boy's Mexican friends at a pitch in party
My grandma moved to Mexico so it’s harder for me to learn how to cook Mexican food even though she tries to help via FaceTime so these videos are amazing🖤
I made these this past weekend with a friend and they are delicious! A couple tips: 1) Make the tamales as big as you can, before I realized this the first half of my dough made 25 when the whole recipe is supposed to make 33 or 34! 2) You can use a tortilla press to make pressing the masa easier during the filling stage, and finally 3) CHECK YOUR WATER LEVEL FREQUENTLY WHILE STEAMING! Unfortunately I burned the bottom of BOTH pots I tried (I can clean them thanks to Barkeeper's Friend which works well for stainless steel), but honestly set a recurring timer. Water can evaporate much quicker than we realize! The masa is super yummy and I will be saving this recipe. I also can't believe this video only has 25k views! Thanks so much ~ P.S. Seriously, set a recurring timer to check water levels
Every time I watch one of your videos, I'm always: 1.) very hungy, 2.) well informed, and 3) laughing so hard at Nelson's looks and comments! You two are so great and the food is absolutely fantastic. Thank you for all you do, and keep up the good work! ¡Salud!
I can't believe I missed this Rosanna 😫....but omg they are one of my favorite tamales very simple and easy I love how you made your masa as well you made it look so simple I'm gonna try defiantly . I also understand your husband with them poblano peppers I'm a big fan of them as well they are very tasty and have a wonderful flavor thanks for sharing God bless you both!🥰💕🥰
Gracias por el video bien explicado estas muy joven y eres toda una esperta en hacer tamales una maravilla gracias mi aplausos yo soy mexicana tu eres mi maestra dios te bendiga
Greetings from East Texas! This is the first time I have actually seen homemade tamales! I will have to work up the courage to try to make these! Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Props to your sweet Husband 😘. Blessings to you all this week
Because of you and your videos I am going to attempt to make Red Chili Pork tamales tomorrow for the first time ever! I may now need to add some of these to my list. I just need to find myself a steamer pot unless you have some ways to make them without the steamer bottom. Thank you so much for making this mucho easier to make! ❤
Thanks for sharing. I love tamales because I have a Mexican friend who introduced me to all the delicious Mexican dishes! I will definitely cook this soon!
In your recipe you mentioned Maseca instant corn masa and King Arthur instant corn masa. Which one did you use in your video? One or the other or both together? If I want to cook these ahead of time to freeze them , do I freeze them before I cook them or after I cook them? Do you suggest to de thaw on the counter or do you de thaw them in the refrigerator and for how long? If they are not done within a hour of cooking how many more minutes do you let them continue cooking? Sorry for so many questions but it is a lot of work and I want them to come out as beautiful as yours! 😁👍🏼 Thank you for sharing!! I can hardly wait to make them…💕
I tried your recipe and it was awesome. I made a little less tamales and used the rest to make a filling of pineapple,, cream cheese desert., with a butter, brown sugar, cinnamon sauce.
Now I've seen a fried egg and the kids putting ketchup on top, but I never heard of sour cream and cheese with the sauce as a topper, but that lookes delicious.
Dear Villa Cocina - did you use all the 4 1/2 cups of broth for the 5 cups of masa? Please confirm and I thank you so much I want to make this recipe 🙏❤️👍
Wait! How do you keep the other 28 tamales you made??? We are only 2 here at home so do we make half a batch, eat 6 and freeze the remainder? How long will they store in the refrigerator? Thanks, love your videos.
Suerte y felicidades.
Definitely going to make them! One question? I also have a stove like yours and have a problem cooking them. It’s shuts off during the cooking and stops the water from boiling. What is your secret to cook them with in 1 hour?
This dude said, "When have I NOT been ready to taste?" LMAO!!!! I love it!!!! I bet they taste as delicious as they look!!! But that "Heat" on the scoville scale, has me worried!! lol
Does the Oaxaca cheese turn yellow after cooking? I bought the strip Oaxaca cheese; it turned yellow after cooking. So, does it make a difference in the cheese type?
Every time I do a grocery order, I get 12 poblanos... I roast and peel and freeze in quantities of 3-6... I always have them on hand when I want to make something...
how many tamales should i make for two people to eat within maybe a few days? I want to make them for my boyfriend for Día de la Candelaria but Im also white and don't know how to make tamales lol
I had lunch with a friend who ordered a dish with jalapeño slices. She had one slice and turned beet red half way down her arms. It was the hottest jalapeño in the world!! She avoided the rest of them. Peppers do indeed vary in hotness!

What’s the ratio if I use lard and vegetable shortening?
🌬📢 H🤔w do I substitute the lard?
You will find out in this recipe. I made the dough with oil only.
Love your videos I have a question what brand is the flour please
You can check the description area for the link but its masa harina from king Arthur.

Does the Oaxaca cheese turn yellow after cooking? I bought the strip Oaxaca cheese; it turned yellow after cooking. So, does it make a difference in the cheese type?
We use Serrano peppers to make Indian food every day at home. They're the best amount of heat.
Love your recipe! Thanks for not using pre-shredded cheese.
Glad you liked the result! ☺️ tamales are awesome!
Can you cook a variety of tamales at the same time?
Can you steam the tamales in an instapot?
Thank you…😇
You're welcome 😊
Hi Linda, can the masa be spread using a spoon or spatula thanks.
You could, as long as it gets spread out evenly. 🙂 hope this helps.
@@VillaCocina Thank you Villa Cocina can you also let me know where to print your recipes from I can't find a printing link
NIce!
