Sometimes forensic questions ask what version of Linux you are running and if you do updates before the README and Forensic questions then you may lose the answer so always do the read me and the Forensic Questions first.

For the qualifiers and practice competitons they usually are the easiest part, once you get to semi finals they start to get a lot harder
@@PentestsandTech agreed. I remember I spent about 2 hours on something, since I was brand new to Linux, so hopefully this year is a bit easier lol.
Whenever I try to install Bum it says it's unable to locate package.
Make sure to apt get update and upgrade before you try to install it.
Bum is no longer supported after Ubuntu 16. I'm wondering if there are any alternatives.
I think it’s now a built in feature of Ubuntu

my ubuntu doesnt show the gui on the side. Idk what to do when i searched online and tried to fix it my whole linux got corrupted and it deducted 68 points i had to redo my entire ubuntu
I’m not sure what could have caused that, I’ve had to redo boxes a couple times during a competition tho

There’s an sshd config file in /etc/ssh/ there’s a line in there that says permitrootlogin yes. Change that to no

What version of Ubuntu is this?
For firewall do you leave it on home for cyber patriot? I always put it on office but I don’t know what it does.
I believe as long as it’s on you get points, and then if you want more points you would have to go further in depth to iptables and things like that.
