    After suffering from severe depression and anxiety for many years I come across Vipassana meditation which teaches the art of mindfulness in the present moment. It has purified my mind of anxiety and depression and although I still have periods when I do feel anxious or slightly depressed it will never be as bad as it once was. Mindfulness meditation has given me a second chance in enjoying life

      +89rebel it's unlikely that you will get over it all in one go, meditation is a cleansing process and it takes time. You can learn to accept whatever painful emotions and thoughts are arising in this moment and be mindful of them. The purpose is to stop reacting with whatever is happening and allowing things to be as they are. There's a really good meditation retreat centre where you can practice meditation. It's 10 days long and in silence. Type in vipassana meditation on Google and it will come up. I hope you feel better soon

      Thank you so much for your input. Reading real cases of people who suceeded in using mindful meditation to get rid of anxiety or/and depression gives me hope. I live in portugal, and have no knowledge of such centers but I will look out. Right now Im watching some vids on youtube about vipassana meditation after reading your post. And I will be consistent and hopefully one day I will be able to meditate without being in constant state of meditation. All the best for you!

    The power of meditation is tremendous.
    To be able to observe your mind and emotions, and not react to it was a game changer for us.

    • @JimmyVu415
      @JimmyVu415 4 роки тому +1

      How exactly do you observe your mind and emotions? Its so hard to do without reacting in a negative way :(

    • @YogiLab
      @YogiLab 4 роки тому +10

      @@JimmyVu415 The first step is actually not to put pressure on observing the mind or emotions, as this can be distracting.
      Initially, just focus on feeling the breath. The mind will carry on with what it does in the background, and eventually, we will be able to feel this without reacting. But first, we want to build enough willpower to face this without being distracted.
      So:
      1. Focus on the breath.
      2. Feel it coming in and out of the nostrils.
      3. If you become aware of your mind moving somewhere else, simply bring it back.
      Good luck 🙏🏽

    My notes:
    1.-Practice 40-45 minutes a day
    2.-How to do it: We place our attention in our belly in order to focus in our breath. And here comes the hardest part: Non-Judgmentally (including non-judgmentally the non-judgmentally) pull the focus back on the belly/breath everytime your mind wanders
    3.-Don't judge meditation (Am I doing this right?, Is this working?, I can't do it, I don't want to feel pain...)

    20 years living a life in addiction. Mindfulness and compassion is the way out. Every day feels great without having to act anymore on triggers which may or may not come. Who needs any drug like alcohol, sugar, attention etc. when you can start to be at peace with what is, and enjoy every moment to the fullest by just being present..... As Eckart would say, this is re-defying your Ego, your personalty to something pure and good. What an enlightenment this all is

    It's so weird that we even need mindfulness meditation- its all about getting out of our head and focusing on the present moment, and the fact that we need it means that our thoughts are basically more "real" to us than what's right in front of us!

    I''ve been an anxious/depressive kind of person, for so many years of struggling, may times I thought Im already done with it during my highs only to be smashed down on my very low moments. More than a year ago I started meditating and it really changed a lot in me, how I view myself and the world, how I react, how I behave, most importantly how to be at peace and calm even at times when my anxiety strikes. I pray more people if not all will be able to benefit from meditation.

      Just to make things clear, I agree with you but I don’t want people to think that this is some ra-ra claim.
      Once you have a better control of your mind, your in a better position to make more accurate/efficient (untainted by whatever your going through at that particular moment), clearer mind.
      You can actually lose weight, because being at an attractive, healthy weight isn’t a thing you have to force yourself to go to the gym & be on a diet you hate. It’s about living a different lifestyle, which requires changing the way you look at things. You’ll try different foods and it’ll take a while before you find what works for you, but when you change, you’re a different person.
      You can teach yourself, that you very much hate that you smoke & it genuinely doesn’t bring any value to you. You don’t ‘force’ yourself to quit, you just release it & you free yourself of the prison you walked in to.
      Again, I just don’t want people to think that meditation Promotors are selling a “cure all”. No, it teaches you to control the type of person you are, & most people use it to better other areas. But it takes time but more importantly they are lasting changes.

    So love the words "My mind was creating the suffering". With much struggle personally dealing with an internal fight with my mind on a daily bases to redirect my thoughts it truly is a practice that many would see victory over life challenges once the brain is trained to redirect and rethink. This talk was very well delivered an a reminder of how to get that center peace.

    I had a long journey when I discover mindfulness in every way. The mind, the communication, not sure if meditation cause I don't meditate I just let it flow through my head as I kept being busy in my life, internal, external, and others which words I don't know that is about mindfulness. It was great as I had practiced it without even knowing it back in elementary to high school 11th grade. That is when I had a view of what mindfulness is. Although I currently am still practicing it and have an easier time with assignments diving into it. I'll also say it has many benefits for you in life anywhere. One thing I had was depression back then, didn't even think I had it but it was interesting for me to be able to cope with depression and other pains, such as doubt that makes people suffer mentally, as I also learn about it and myself even further. It was just in part of me that just autopilots like it detects the problems, study the problems, and then solve them. No matter how many years it takes. Maybe it's just my consciousness that has been built and keeps being built stronger and expanding. Well, that's all I have to say cause I emptied everything that I wanted to say.

    Always give love and respect to all things for they are you. Because we are one collective consciousness experiencing ourselves subjectively. Being mindful of everything as a part of you just in a different physical form will help the eternal now becomes more relaxing and more excepting. Side step into infinite spirals positive or negative it doesn't matter only when you can catch yourself and see why did it start then you can help heal but only without judgment of your own patterns can one truly except there own inner workings and level up to new levels or yourself. The mental challenges are only has hard as we make them. Every once in awhile everyone needs to deferment they hard drive and reset their computer. helps the computer run better and helps computer find files faster. A perform longer without error. Lovely, clear, and engaging beginning-level talk. He mentions Viktor Frankl's statement about the importance of having inner choice, no matter what the outer circumstances may be. What makes that quotation even more remarkable is that Frankl was a concentration camp survivor.
    One note: beginners who don't know brain physiology should understand that the speaker's references to exercising the brain's "muscles" is mostly a metaphor. Meditation probably helps with increased blood flow in the brain; however, the tiny involuntary muscles within blood vessels aren't what we think of when we see someone lifting weights. Still, it's a good way to demonstrate the importance of regular meditation practice, which does affect the brain's neural (nerve cell) "wiring." (There are many billions of neurons in the human brain.)

      falun gong cult And does believing that make you life better or worse? my guess is worse. No need to put other people beliefs down my dude, everyone's entitled to hold their own opinion. I hope you have a lovely, happy and healthy day.

    This was the best video i have seen so far. I love the L.O.S.T. I used to meditate for several hours a day. I felt like i lost it, but you just reminded me of everything that i already knew. Now its time to apply it. Thank You!

      +Stephanie Tansley Just curious.... how did you come to stop meditating once you had gotten in that deeply? Several hrs/day is alot! I ask because I never stick with it. I might get to a few 20-40 min/day sessions for a month and then I stop. Meanwhile... I am noticing benefits of the meditation when I stop.

    Meditation vs Ego
    Without meditation OR prayer OR being in a happy state........ your ego rules your life. Do you know, IF you don't listen to your intuition and keep pushing it aside and denying what its trying to tell you, YOUR EGO WILL CREATE CHAOS THAT'LL MAKE YOU WISH YOU WERE LISTENING, BY A HUNDRED-FOLD!!!
    Your very own Ego will SACRIFICE YOU because you're headed toward an even much much more worse situation IF you're not stopped completely in your tracks in that very moment!!
