Watching Movies with your Dad is one of the best things to do. I watched all of those italo western with my dad. When iam a Dad i really wanna keep that tradition.
@@azekel7687 funnily enough I didn’t remember any of the family drama when I re watched it a few years later. All I remembered was the big robots fighting 😭
I love the sub-plot of Charlie having the idea that robot boxing is 100% about the robot itself, and slowly learning the importance of the pilots and all too. It's like a reverse of how a lot of people see things like racing and all, where they just look at the driver and forget the insane work of the engineering teams. It also just feels like a realistic mentality for a guy who has been effectively replaced by a robot.
I didn't pick this up until a rewatch but when Baily is telling Max about how Charlie used to be, she says he would fight by making his opponents tire themselves out, she recognizes what he's doing when he starts shadowboxing with Atom during the last round
The reason he didn't use the same voice commands at the beginning was because he didn't believe in his own capabilities as a boxer anymore. He chose the lazy route and used the preprogrammed attacks the robot had instead of trusting his own instructions. That's why at first all we see is Charlie making all the wrong decisions. He doesn't trust himself enough to choose the difficult road, so he goes for quick fixes and easy outs, which leads to him constantly getting deeper into debt.
This guy does not miss with the surprise uploads started following few months ago and was kinda glad to see he didn’t have too much content already out there so it’s a treat to see all this amazing things come to his channel
Loved this movie. The style/technique with Atom being backed into the corner and Zeus’s power being depleted is called the Rope-A-Dope in which the boxer taking the punches (non-injury) in the corner of the ring has the energy being spent on him spread throughout their body into the ring’s ropes, making the hitter tire himself out and the receiver having an advantage
Don's face when Charlie and Atom hit Zeus with the superman punch was just out of this world, I've never seen a face do that outside of eating sour candies.
Actually one of the only movies I can watch and still be as hyped by the ending as the first time I watched it. Genuinely one of the movies of all time. Great reaction!
@@slayer8630 I believe he is. Or at least became that way...he was built to follow human movements why wouldn't emotions eventually pick up ..somehow! Especially with Max! Ijs imo
@@rebekahjackson5996 As much as I want to believe that, being able to copy human movements has no connection with being able to pick up human emotions. Unless he has sentience programmed into him, it's not possible for him to suddenly gain sentience. As far as we know, he doesnt even have AI in his programme.
Ok so I guess I'm old, but as GenX I want to point out that this is based on a game we had as kids (at least in the US) called Rockm Sockm Robots. It was all plastic and a few rubber bands I think, but each side of the ring had control of 1 robot and you worked the controls until someone knocked the head up of 1 of the Robots. You then had to push the head back down into position to play again 😂❤
I loved playing that game with my brother/dad when I was younger! And I'm technically Gen Z (just turned 23 last week), so I don't think that makes you old. I guess it is an old game though. I never knew that Real Steel was based on / inspired by that game, though! I always just thought it was a coincidence
Not the only influence, technically the short story that inspired this was first adapted for screen by the Twilight Zone in black and white. But pretending Rockm Sockm wasn't another big influence would be a lie. Especially when you look at the starting robot.
Under-rated movie and still outstanding movie till this day, it's an amazing movie and happy ro see more and more and more YT reactions channels watching this gem
I really do think Real Steal is one of the more slept on movies like this just because most boxing fans aren't into sci-fi robot stuff and more sci-fi people aren't into boxing (in general) but its SUCH a good blending of the genres with a nice feel good story.
Real Steel is of my favorite moves. With how small Atom is compared to other robots it reminds me of Punch Out. Little Mac facing boxers that are double his weight and size and raising above everyone.
Reel steal is truly a historical movie, I remember when my dad showed me this movie a couple years back, fell in love with it the first time I watched it.
Atom!!! Yyyaaaasss!! I saw this when it came out at the movie and then bought the DVD right after. Been watching it ever since. Something about watching Hugh Jackman in movies no matter the movie. Zeus wasn’t ready for Atom because Atom fights for longevity and Zues wasn’t built to do so. All the naysayers were in for a shock! David & Goliath indeed! Ooh and my boy Anthony Mackie AKA Falcon in there too! I’ve seen the bully in a few movies too, including working with Dwayne The Rock Johnson in Standing Tall.
Just watched this with my girlfriend a few days ago, she hadn't seen it and never woulda picked it on her own. Loved it, and was all about going for the sequel, which i haven't seen yet either.
One of many hidden gem movies, it was awesome, the father is a deadbeat and the son and the little robot come into his life and change it, he realizes his true potential.
Also, in recent news about this movie.. The director said himself that "even though the movie did well" he wouldn't want to make a sequel that didn't deserve to be made. Because he doesn't know if it would top the original film. Not to mention the recasting process for Max, and Charlie, and Bailey. He also mentioned that the actor who played Max is all grown up now and retired from acting.
Following with what you said about Noisy Boy losing, I think even if Charlie did study the moves, he may still have lost due to it being a WRB bot, and the fight he was in was an underground ring, therefore illegal to be frank. So, illegal moves would be available. Noisy Boy is a WRB Bot, a legal only move fight. Max even said the moves Midas was doing weren’t legal. So, taking Midas was his death sentence for a legendary robot.
One of the greatest movies ever made hands down. I watched it in theaters with my dad and this movie always reminds me of him. Good memories
The greatest movie of all time imo
Watching Movies with your Dad is one of the best things to do. I watched all of those italo western with my dad. When iam a Dad i really wanna keep that tradition.

I bet when you watched it with your dad, you felt like Max Kenton and your dad was Charlie.

Real steel, transformers, and avatar was the goated movies for me back then with the special effects. Like fr they are a masterpiece.
Yeah I forget that this movie isn’t new at all. The effects have held up incredibly well

Fun fact: Noisy Boi was created by the guy who created Zeus
I think that was explained in the movie
Yeah it make sense. I mean the default language on noisy boi is japanese plus it's designs. And also very famous across the world like Zeus.
So glad you reacted to this Don, I think this has to be the most underrated movie ever
Alright I admit it, im addicted to watching movies with y’all 😂😂
