If you're wondering why Cherno Alpha, Crimson Typhoon and Stryker Eureka went down so easily, it's because those kaiju were made to counter all three of them. When newt drifted with the Kaiju he got information, but so did the kaiju, which allowed them to design Kaiju to kill Cherno and Typhoon and then disable Stryker.
@@modernwarshipsgamer2123 In Newt's defense, they had no way of knowing that the Kaiju were a hive mind. 27:44 I think the reason for why they didn't put guns on the Jaegers was supposed to have something to do with the brief mention early in the newsreel montage that the Kaiju's blood is super toxic, so they don't want it splattering everywhere. That's why the main Jaeger has those pulse canons that cauterize the wounds. And most of their ranged weapons are high-powered explosives, like missiles. Doesn't really explain the swords then, but they did only deploy them high in the air, or underwater. Plus they'd make less of a blood splatter than a gunshot would.
couple of explanations for the confusion you had with fighting tactics. 1. Swords spread tons of kaiju blood which is extremely toxic, so use of them is prohibited unless its a last resort. 2. although opening with plasma cannons is possible, its not ideal. for one, the plasma cannons have a limited number of shots, so they only want to fire them if they have gaurenteed shot lined up. two, the plasma cannons are more effective at close range so they typically want to fire them at point blank, which means they have to have the kaiju sort of restrained to avoid getting attacked while the plasma cannon charges
yep, Raleigh had no reason to even suspect there to be a sword cause the playbook he was trained on held the idea of minimizing kaiju blue a lot higher priority than it would now in such a last resort scenario, there shouldn't even be a reason he'd assume they'd install it. You even see this disparity in comparing Cherno Alpha to Crimson Typhoon and Striker Eureka, the latter 2 both include bladed weapons baseline (hell it's CT's main weapon) because really killing efficiency is taking priority to keeping the kill clean. Also yes, plasma weapons have a localised EMP effect, this is what causes Gypsy Danger to go off radar in the opening when it's full 6 shot clip is discharged at once. Reason being plasma is superheated gas, which does not dissipate immediately and just creates an EM cloud. In combat this is fantastic, as it essentially gives a Jaeger a powerful weapon that cauterises the wound to minimise kaiju blue but also lingers continuing to burn the Kaiju from inside (this is why you see them essentially boil, superheated plasma would take a while to cool and that's just gonna boil away at the fluids inside them.)
There is in fact solid science behind why they don't use the plasma cannon at range. Plasma actually dissipates really quickly once it leaves the magnetic containment field of the weapon. So the closer they use it the more damage it causes.

28:37 It's clear that in the movie when Newt drifted he knew that these kaijus are somewhat intelligent. When you are fighting an intelligent creature, you better off not showing your other weapons or capabilities until you absolutely need it so they can't counter it. Like the bat flying kaiju thing, it didn't show any flight capabilities until the last second, why? Cause it is intelligent and it is being very cautious about whether or not it wants to use it. If it caught their capabilities of using sword, it is highly likely that the kaiju is able to counter it.
So Kaiju blood is extremely toxic, so if it gets in the water it also causes an environmental crisis. The kaijus were not meant to exterminate humanity, they were meant to exterminate any living thing while making the planet uninhabitable. So the only way to kill them while also sparing the environment around them is to literally beat them to death, or use weapons that instantly cauterize the wounds. That's why the Jaegers rarely start out the fight shooting, they are trying to beat the giant creatures to death..
The reason they didn’t immediately deploy the sword is because it would spread kaiju blue ( that’s the kaiju blood and it’s extremely toxic) that’s why they usually use brute force, punching, kicking ect, or plasma based weapons that cauterize the wound:
A lot of people complain about him using the ship instead of the blade, but there many advantages that blunt and sharp weapons have over each other. For one, blunt weapons are less likely to get stuck, which without the help of gravity like when he was falling from space later can make it easy to get it stuck on its thick skin, plus the ship as more range. It is a bit weird to use the longer weapon in the tight areas of a city though.
18:58 Stacker Pentecost’s copilot when operating the Jaeger Coyote Tango, was a woman by the name of Tamsin(I think I spelled that right), an RAF pilot who, along with Stacker’s sister Luna, participated in some of the first USAF counterattacks against “Trespasser” the first Kaiju encountered. Shortly after the marshal’s argument with the UN reps, she finally lost a years-long battle against cancer, and was buried at the Pan-Pacific Defense Corps Cemetery in Hawaii.
Theres many reasons they could not be using weapons. The story putpose has to do with the Kaiju blood being toxic, so they tey to minimize the amount being spread around. However, you could also look at it as, do you use your biggest weapon in video games first? Or do you wait to use it until you really need it? 😂
21:54 it’s believed that, following the Knife-head-Gypsy fight, the Kaiju displayed an interesting change in tactics, seemingly realizing that the pilots of the-largely humanoid-Jaegers were located in the mech’s head, and how devastating it’s damage or destruction would be to their opponents, the Kaiju began to regularly target that part of the Jaegers, resulting in far heavier losses for the defenders. Of the four Jaegers we see, all have a reason for surviving this shift, Cherno Alpha doesn’t really *have* a head to target, Crimson Typhoon and Striker Eureka are somewhat faster and more agile than many other Jaegers, and Gypsy Danger’s been tucked away for the last few years, so it didn’t have a chance to be destroyed in combat. It remained capable of going toe-to-toe with even the latest, largest Kaiju thanks to the refit and upgrades it received during the interim.
In the prologue of the movie it explains that kaiju blood is toxic (kaiju blue), so weapons that draw blood are more of a last ditch attempt sort of thing
You talking about "Dungeon Cleaners" reminded me that the main character of the manga (and soon enough, also the anime) "Kaiju no.8" started off working in kaiju corpse disposal.
I would like to somehow defend the movie, and by that I mean the fights in the movie, and why some things are not used right away as you noticed in the movie. 1. This is not explained in words, so you have to follow all the visual actions to understand some mechanics, like for example the plasma weapons that the Gipsy Danger uses. They probably have a certain level of charge that they can use, because we see that when they blow off the arm of that Kaiju with shooting, and later they turn around to finish it and they use the opposite hand but not the one they shot with first, which suggests that they have used up the first hand so they probably need to conserve ammo at the start of the fight, so they can use them later as a surprise. It is also possible that after using a large burst of those plasma shots that probably the system has to cool down for a long time, which would also be the reason why they don't use it after the first fight. The last complaint I noticed, why the weapon is not immediately ready to fire at the start of the fight instead of later in the fight, I would say that since the mechanism of those plasma arms is much more vulnerable in that form, and probably the repairs take a very long time and cost, so a lot of the pilots have to use that weapon only if the enemy can't reach it, or react to it in time like when this Kaiju had both arms occupied so we could use the plasma hand with less risk. 2. A possible reason why they didn't use the sword earlier in the fight, and I honestly think it's a matter of poor communication, because I think the swords are an addition that Becket didn't know about, due to his surprise when Mako activated the sword, Mako probably relied more on Becket's leadership because of his experience on the field and she just focused on following him and what he was doing, but when he was out of plans she remembered something she hadn't thought about, and decided to do the first command of her own and activate the sword. So that's why in the movie later we see that they activate the sword much earlier because now they both know they have that weapon, unlike before when Mako was just following her uninformed partner. 3. It would be cool if Jaegers could fly, but their technology hasn't reached that level yet, but at least they have minimal boost for better movement speed or stronger hits, the first Jaeger models had cannons and different types of weapons that fire, but we mustn't forget that all of these Jaegers were not built in the same places but each country made their own models, and the giant guns would be quite problematic, because even with our normal sized guns there are mechanical problems like when a bullet gets stuck in the barrel, and those kinds of malfunctions would be terrible to happen on the battlefield, and that's why any Jaegers with guns rely on projectiles or plasma weapons.
I love the combat trials scene, because it reminds me so much belt trials in martial arts. Every time I hear some reactor say stuff like "oh, shes gonna whoop him" or the like, it reminds me of all those loud parents trying cheer on their little Johnny or Rosie despite not knowing the rules of whatever tournament they're watching. Its truly hilarious to hear such remarks coming from a younger generation.
The plasma caster range wise isn’t that far and the reason they didn’t use the sword to begin with is because kaiju blood named kaiju blue is toxic and they don’t want in in the pacific where they draw there entire water supply.
30:08 there is a lot of speculation to why they didnt use the sword earlier #1 i believe it was newly added on Gipsy Danger and raleigh hadnt used a jaeger for 5 years so he likely didnt remember that it was there #2 Mako was instructed to follow raleighs lead and not try to do stuff on her own, so even if she knew about the sword she would likely not mention it bcs she was ordered to follows his lead #3 same reason for why they punch alot instead of the plasma gun and same reason why they dont have guns, the blood of the kaijus is highly acidic, so killing them with pure force is their best bet #4 might be a stupid one, but the pressure they were under was probably insane from fighting 2 tier 4s back to back, with no more uses of the plasma gun, first time piloting together etc
1:22 he's spittin 🔥 3:18 also lmao mans really said three different versions of "you know what i mean" and like nothing else. and the funny part is, i totally do know what he means 😂
1:10 actually, if you look closely when Marshall Pentecost is arguing with the UN reps, on the British guy’s screen it says that the UK has suffered two kaiju attacks,p. Soooo… yeah, you’re not 100% safe.
funfact about the rusian Jaeger (cherno alpha), it has no escape pod. cause they believed, if you were to die, you were to die alongside your jaeger in battle.
with movies like this, you don't question efficiency, stuff like using straight hands or bashing kaiju with a boat don't need to be the best option, it just has to look cool and have style that's the biggest thing Del Toro (the director) focused on yeah they could have done so many different things to limit damage and end fights quicker, but it wouldn't look cool, emphasize the style, or be as fun as seeing giant robots throwing hands with giant monsters
Sword or any weapon that could inflict a bleeding effect is a last resort type shit Jaeger pilot was specifically train to kill a kaiju by beating the shlt out of it instead of stabbing it to death
The reason they primarily attack with their fists but then use the plasma weapons when things get tough, and also the reason the sword was a last resort, is because the Kaiju blood is very toxic, and it causes problems when it gets into the ocean, and even on land. Killing them with blunt blows doesn't cause them to bleed, and the plasma weapon cauterizes any wound it creates, minimizing how much blood is released. Also, the movie has some pretty glaring plotholes, though it's still a great and entertaining movie. One of the most obvious and annoying plot-holes to me is that the idea of building walls to keep the Kaiju out is stupid. Even if the walls actually worked to begin with, which they don't, as was seen, more and more Kaiju could simple come through the breach until there were enough to overwhelm the walls. Also the Kaiju are adapting and becoming stronger over time. The other, less obvious plot-hole, that nevertheless frustrates me greatly, is the fact that they could have simply created a massive Jaeger base encircling the breach, which is itself static. Obviously they shouldn't build it too close, lest the Kaiju be able to attack it very easily. But they should create it just far enough away that multiple Jaegers could quickly and easily engage any Kaiju as soon as they come through. There could also potentially be cannons or missile launchers on the base itself that could support the Jaegers from afar.
The reason they didn’t use the sword at the start bc Riley didn’t know there was one bc it wasn’t a thing when his brother died to knife head but mako seen it on the display and activated it
For ppl who dont no why Mako crying about her parents its because they were piloting Ion Ucon a Japanese yeager and they were assigned to eliminate ragnorok and they were offed
the kaiju's blood is known to be very bad for humans and using a sword would make the blood splatter everywhere. that's why they refrain from using the sword until the last resort
The first one did something special and made both monster and robot feel huge and weighty. The second one I think lacked that sense of weight that added a sense of realism to the absurdity.

"Why didnt they use the sword first?" "Why didnt they use the gun first?" Bro its a movie lol they gotta get you invested in the fight think theyre losing and then win haha
The reason they mostly use fists against the kaiju is because kaiju blood is highly toxic, so instead of piercing and having the blood spread everywhere they choose to kill them by burning or blunt force trauma
The Plasma cannon is more of a last resort weapon 'cause it leaves quite the hole. They tried to kill it without spilling it's blood 'cause of the aforementioned toxic blood that would then spread in the water killing wildlife and infecting wherever it goes.

Also, blunt force = less Kaiju blood.
Omg YES!!! My favourite comfort movie 😂❤️ I’m so glad to see you react to it 😁
18:58 Stacker Pentecost’s copilot when operating the Jaeger Coyote Tango, was a woman by the name of Tamsin(I think I spelled that right), an RAF pilot who, along with Stacker’s sister Luna, participated in some of the first USAF counterattacks against “Trespasser” the first Kaiju encountered. Shortly after the marshal’s argument with the UN reps, she finally lost a years-long battle against cancer, and was buried at the Pan-Pacific Defense Corps Cemetery in Hawaii.
I love Pacific Rim. It's corny and fire all at once lol
Honestly one of the greatest movies I watched, found your channel through the maze runner reacts keep it up 🙏💯🙏
The reason they don't use the sword more often is because its addressed in the beginning of the movie that the monster's blood is super toxic.
And it didn't even have the sword in the first fight. That was one of the upgrades Gypsy got when she was repaired
Theres many reasons they could not be using weapons. The story putpose has to do with the Kaiju blood being toxic, so they tey to minimize the amount being spread around. However, you could also look at it as, do you use your biggest weapon in video games first? Or do you wait to use it until you really need it? 😂
I use first grade weapon + 1000 healing potion
This CGI from pacific rim is better than most modern CGI
One of the most underrated movies. This is better than people give credit for.
In the prologue of the movie it explains that kaiju blood is toxic (kaiju blue), so weapons that draw blood are more of a last ditch attempt sort of thing
You talking about "Dungeon Cleaners" reminded me that the main character of the manga (and soon enough, also the anime) "Kaiju no.8" started off working in kaiju corpse disposal.
this was my childhood movie frfr, never thought you would watch this

Bro drops new heat right when I need him to
What's funny is that gypsy danger was the only mech that did a T pose at the end.
Not to mention the whole “gun/ammunition caliber” thing.
Holyyyy w reaction Don🙏🏾
Best of its time man, best of its time.❤
Absolutely loved this movie, shame it never got a sequel
Such a shame
wdym, it did get a sequel
@@zycloack8124we are saying that as in the sequel it did get was ass.
Yes it did, stop the senseless hate.
@@danielm.595cry about it
YES HE FINALLY REACTED TO THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME
I love the combat trials scene, because it reminds me so much belt trials in martial arts.
All time favorite movie 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌. This thing is awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥
37:52 I doubt that many sharks would frequent the waters around the Breach.
I just watched the second movie today and was wondering if you have reacted to these and here it is. I wonder if godzilla reaction comes someday
Need that Godzilla reaction
34:12 "You can know what someone want to say but if they ain't say it it ain't the same, you know what I'm saying?"
I laughed too hard at this
The plasma caster range wise isn’t that far and the reason they didn’t use the sword to begin with is because kaiju blood named kaiju blue is toxic and they don’t want in in the pacific where they draw there entire water supply.
30:08 there is a lot of speculation to why they didnt use the sword earlier
#1 i believe it was newly added on Gipsy Danger and raleigh hadnt used a jaeger for 5 years so he likely didnt remember that it was there
#2 Mako was instructed to follow raleighs lead and not try to do stuff on her own, so even if she knew about the sword she would likely not mention it bcs she was ordered to follows his lead
#3 same reason for why they punch alot instead of the plasma gun and same reason why they dont have guns, the blood of the kaijus is highly acidic, so killing them with pure force is their best bet
#4 might be a stupid one, but the pressure they were under was probably insane from fighting 2 tier 4s back to back, with no more uses of the plasma gun, first time piloting together etc
Now i want you to see Shin Ultraman which is the middle ground between Pacific Rim and Godzilla
But it is a comedic remake of a 1966 show
1:22 he's spittin 🔥
3:18 also lmao mans really said three different versions of "you know what i mean" and like nothing else. and the funny part is, i totally do know what he means 😂
the plasma cannon can be dodged easily long range. at close range most effective.
You have such a valid point in this movie. Realistically, sword=plot
with movies like this, you don't question efficiency, stuff like using straight hands or bashing kaiju with a boat don't need to be the best option, it just has to look cool and have style
that's the biggest thing Del Toro (the director) focused on
yeah they could have done so many different things to limit damage and end fights quicker, but it wouldn't look cool, emphasize the style, or be as fun as seeing giant robots throwing hands with giant monsters
24:26 “Leatherback”s EMP thing. Possible spoiler: “Otachi”s acid tongue gets the same treatment.
Is no one gone talk about how at the beginning it looked just like Godzilla 2014
Tranformers and Pacific Rim are the best robot CGI movies
I actually never knew that Ron pearlman survived in this movie
And the batman too🖤🖤
1:25 bro just explained the plot of watchmen
Sword or any weapon that could inflict a bleeding effect is a last resort type shit
Jaeger pilot was specifically train to kill a kaiju by beating the shlt out of it instead of stabbing it to death
At the beginning, they didn’t use the weapon is because it needed to get power flowing to the weapon and prepare to fire
I absolutely love this movie, definitely my favorite of all time
The reason they primarily attack with their fists but then use the plasma weapons when things get tough, and also the reason the sword was a last resort, is because the Kaiju blood is very toxic, and it causes problems when it gets into the ocean, and even on land.
They don't use the plasma cannon first because it's short range and limited ammo.
15:54 "CAR OFF CAR OFF" XD
Take a shot every time he says “ayo!”
The reason they didn’t use the sword at the start bc Riley didn’t know there was one bc it wasn’t a thing when his brother died to knife head but mako seen it on the display and activated it
I wanted to go back and count how many times I heard Ayo 😂😂😂
hey ive been watching all ur vids recently, please continue blue lock if you can!! and drop more hunter hunter 🔥🔥🔥
Pacific Rim is in my Top 10 fav Movies!!
20:20 i was going to say foreshadowing, but he was talking about the jeagers
For ppl who dont no why Mako crying about her parents its because they were piloting Ion Ucon a Japanese yeager and they were assigned to eliminate ragnorok and they were offed
Great reaction to one of my favourite guilty pleasure movies.
I LOVE PACIFIC RIM
My man be referencing my favorite dungeon cleaner regression weeb ass webtoon?
Today must be my lucky day.
man u GOTTA watch pacific rim 2, it is fire🔥
What? There was never a second movie
Idk why aliens and monsters always love coming to the US😂
Man that’s cold 🥶 Don
18:43 That man got his ass beat 3 times in a row
finally you watching this its my fav movie
the kaiju's blood is known to be very bad for humans and using a sword would make the blood splatter everywhere. that's why they refrain from using the sword until the last resort
Well in the first place they didn’t have the sword because it was an old model since it’s a Mark 3 didn’t have that until the upgraded it
what sharks, a nuke just went off🤣
Now we need Godzilla reactions.
This is legit in my top 10 2nd one not as gd story line but gd effects
The first one did something special and made both monster and robot feel huge and weighty. The second one I think lacked that sense of weight that added a sense of realism to the absurdity.
THIS MOVIE 🎥 WAS AWESOME BRO NICE REACTION 👍 THIS MOVIE ALSO SHOWS THAT IRIS ELBA IS A GOOD LEADER TO PLAY JOHN STEWART AS THE GREEN LANTERN THAT SPEECH THAT HE SPOKE SHOWS IT STRAIGHT FIRE 🔥
I actually still dont understand how every single person somehow missed the part where they black and white say kaiju blood is extremely toxic so thats why they dont use more effective cutting weapons
you have to check out "Independence day", another lit sci-fi movie with aliens
as you noticed, there are a few too many "uh, why didn't they just lead with that weapon?" moments.
"You man got baptized" sent me
"Why didnt they use the sword first?" "Why didnt they use the gun first?" Bro its a movie lol they gotta get you invested in the fight think theyre losing and then win haha
There's explanations inside the lore
The reason they mostly use fists against the kaiju is because kaiju blood is highly toxic, so instead of piercing and having the blood spread everywhere they choose to kill them by burning or blunt force trauma
Bro when I see Gispy danger I always end up saying "Crispy Danger"
The Plasma cannon is more of a last resort weapon 'cause it leaves quite the hole. They tried to kill it without spilling it's blood 'cause of the aforementioned toxic blood that would then spread in the water killing wildlife and infecting wherever it goes.
In the comics there is a jeager wit the handclap thing
