    finally found it. I am trying to copy this settings, but I have a little problems, when I turn up my shutter speed to 1/250 the image turn a little black? • @LaredoMontoneri
      @LaredoMontoneri  3 роки тому +1

      Hello, yes it’s because the sync flash speed for the Canon is 1/200, so don’t go to 1/250 as it’s to fast for Canon. When I use Canon usually I even go with 1/160 to make sure. Nikon can go up to 1/250 and Hasselblad even 1/500. Anyway if you want to understand better the concept behind that, just google “Flash Sync Speed” and you gonna find tons of post to explainc the mechaninc behind that. Hope it helped

      Depend on your budget, if you got the money go with some Canon like the 50mm 1.8 and also get a 80mm for closer look. But I think Canon 70d is a cropped sensor so make sure you get lenses that can help you frame as much as you need for the photos. Most of the time I sue 24-70 2.8 Nikon, good one old horse-work even if it's not Prime.

    Very helpful and insipriing, thank you. Question regarding @5:17 "testing the light on me". Do you take actual test shots on yourself (or manequin) when staging the space and lights prior to the shoot or do you primarily rely on the light meter? I also noticed you shoot many times at an iso 100 or even 200. I'm curious why you chose to shoot at an iso higher than the base (iso 64 for D850) for your camera?

    • @LaredoMontoneri
      @LaredoMontoneri  2 роки тому

      Hello, actually I though I already replied to you.. yes I check on myself eventually before checking with the model as a final, considering she is gonna have make up and different heights and skin color. I prefer to shoot at 200 so I can have a faster flash recharging time, it's like 2 stops of difference.

    If you're getting great shots of white clothing on white background super hard to do the right way. Amazing job! Blues, pinks and yellows always kill me. It makes my background look yellowish and dirty or too shaded. Sometimes when I shoot white against white there are 2 or 3 shadow lines running through the everything. So frustrating. The more colors in the garment the easier it is too shoot

    • @LaredoMontoneri

    Informative video. Came here for ideas as I have a similar shoot tomorrow. Hopefully I can get away with having one light on the backdrop, one to the feet/lower body, and a key light.
    Did you not need a fill light or that from the key spread well?

    • @LaredoMontoneri

      No that was fine. The main light was centered so even!

  • @jimmyhill9591
    @jimmyhill9591 4 роки тому +1

    Whenever I have to shoot someplace that I can't control the ambient light, which for me is often, I meter the ambient and then set my strobes at least 2 stops brighter. A frame taken without the strobes firing should produce a very dark to nearly black image and I know the ambient won't effect the colors. Generally fluorescent lights aren't very powerful, so it's not too hard to overcome them as long as your camera doesn't have a really low sync speed. Halogens often found in a warehouse space are a lot tougher though. If I need to work with the ambient, say incorporating the space into the background, color correction gels and a custom white balance are life savers.

    • @LaredoMontoneri
      @LaredoMontoneri  4 роки тому

      Jimmy Hill totally agree. The “black frame shot” is what I do also to check the ambient light. But it, for sure, effected the WB for the video as you can see, as there was also sun light from the windows. 🤗🤗
      Thanks!!

    About your comment in 03:36 (magenta lights in the ceiling). My settings are around 1/180s, f11, ISO 100 (like yours), and if you take a test shoot with no flash at all, you will register a black frame. This tells you the ceiling lights will not impact your white balance.
    I always shoot a no flash test shot before any session!
