Some friends of my parents were moving from Ohio down to the south, and the husband decided to drive straight through. They are in their 60s or 70s. Bad idea. The wife and their pets were asleep, and the husband fell asleep at the wheel. The car flipped and rolled. He woke up during the crash, so tensed up. He was hurt pretty badly, with a spinal injury. His wife was lucky to come away with just minor injuries. Sadly, at least one of their pets died. 😿 The husband was in the hospital for months.
Totally true! An old school friend was killed in September 2018, they believed he fell asleep behind the wheel on fast moving Road... he left behind his daughters. He was only 25.
So glad that Daniel is ok. he had an angel on his shoulder that night. You guys went above and beyond to help this man out to try and retrieve as much of his belongings as you could. You guys have big hearts!!!! Thank you for answering this call!
No loss of life that is the biggest blessing. Other things as we say in Canada is "just stuff". It is a very kind thing for you to do and anytime I have ever stopped at the scene of an accident (I was a RN), I just help out cause it's the "right thing" to do. A couple years ago I stopped at the scene of a guy missed the turn flipped his truck and went into the cove, good thing his window was open, and he was able to get out of the vehicle and crawl up over the bank of rocks to almost the side of the road. I managed to find out he was a brittle diabetic on an insulin pump who had just got off the night shift at a fish plant and was heading home, fell asleep at the wheel. Hitting the water woke him up. He was in shock , I was on vacation so I had somebody go to the house across the street for blankets and we called 911 ambulance and police.
@@depthsofhistory I'm a female, but, You know we all should be Good Samaritans as the Good Book says. "Follow the Golden Rule", treat others as you wish to be treated. Plus given a medical background, all are supposed to stop... at least that is the law in Canada, if you are a medical person you are expected to stop ..I can't see anyone in my field not stopping. I stopped at the site of a terrible accident many many years ago. I saw the accident happen, the car flew into the air and landed upside down fortunately on the side of the road. Man and his wife just heading home after a big dinner with their daughter and family, the sun was setting in the west and of course they were heading west. He said he was drowsy, as he was looking for his wife in the ditch, he was in shock and he was scalped by the sunroof, so we told him to Keep his cap on. the wife wasn't in the ditch but on the side of the road full of glass, in shock and a few fractures. It is a fairly busy stretch of road/old highway and only myself and another guy stopped. Then of course everyone slows down at the scene to "see what happened", which is very dangerous and can cause more accidents. The third guy who stopped, we got him to direct traffic.....and a trucker in an 18 wheeler stopped and offered to call 911 for ambulance and police for us. Did I say I was an old Registered Nurse ? There were no cell phones then, so you have to rely on the kindness of others. Once he called 911 he continued on his way. When I saw the car go air born a la Dukes of Hazzard (an old TV show), initially I thought it was going to land on my little Datsun (Nissan Sentra), and I thought that was it, I was surely going to die and when I didn't, I bolted out of my car and crossed the highway, the wheels were still spinning on that car that was upside down. After it was over and everyone taken care of police and ambulance, my legs went to jelly, in fact I couldn't remember the rest of my 1.5 hour drive to my home. Couldn't sleep that night. too much adrenalin. You see what you can offer and you just DO IT. Always be kind to others, anybody who is in trouble, no matter who they are, they will appreciate your help. Yeah, pearls of wisdom from an old nurse on Canada's East Coast.
