Im Indian and i know that the pottery is for doing Black Magic...The one who does it will write the name of the person in that small bronze plate and perform pooja to goddess Kali or other entity to hurt the person through black magic and after performing the rituals they throw the pot with stuff filled with in to the water..mostly they prefer river to throw it in running water... if no river found they choose any water body..Maybe even the doll head might be also from that kinda dark shit.
