Back in 1984-86, I worked for a Miniature Company called Alliance Miniatures. I had a large collection of 15mm Napoleonics, but sadly (kicks self), I traded it all off. As time passes, I find this channel with a lot of Napoleonic figures, and you, sir, have inspired me to get a collection of Napoleonics again. I recently backed 3D Breed Napoleonic Kickstarter so I have print, paint, and play underway!!
Aaaaagh, so sorry you traded away your original NAPs! Having the room to store these things can be a pain and God help you if you have a huge collection and you have to move. Glad you are jumping right back into the rabbit hole! Have fun and thank you for commenting!
Hey Steve - still making my way through this Napoleonic goodness - running a bit behind here - Tasmania was smashed for a week of severe weather and damaging winds - 40,000 lost power - we were out for 72 hours - been a difficult week. It's also with massive disappointment I am having to shelve my hobby and pack it away - there is just no space for me to leave things out - and you know how the motivation goes when the only way you can do something is to unpack it all and then pack it back up at the end of the session. It's absolutely frustrating and I am feeling a bit gutted. It's been a hard year and things are just going downhill. But I will be living my hobby vicariously through your videos so keep them coming - love the content so much.
I'm sorry to hear that, Craig! I feel like i would know how you are feeling. If I couldn't hobby for an extended period of time, I would feel the same! Hopefully, you will be back at it in the near future . I've got my fingers crossed for you that whatever whacked out weather pattern is nail, you guys will go somewhere else on the planet and let you all have a break! I'm pretty sure I will be heading back to the Eastern Front next, but you never know 🤣
Agreed the Breathtaking table-scape! Loved it so much, I took a picture if my TV screen to show my mother ... not kidding. 😊 I had exclaimed some sound when it popped up on my TV. I was on the phone with her. Just awesome.
Thanks, Dom! I hope all went well at your daughter's wedding. Have a great weekend and a great show on Monday! Keep up the ACW work. It's keeping me totally motivated to crank out more troops!
Great effort putting this together. The amount of work required to put productions like this together is enormous. I use just my iPhone and iMovie. Really Excellent work!
@@basement1908 I hope you don’t find my comments overly critical. I make plenty of rule errors on my videos still. One day I’ll get a video / game played and we won’t make a single error but I suspect that’ll the same day I find a leprechaun at the end of a rainbow in a field of four leaf clover holding a winning lottery ticket
Redeploy is only required if a brigade exchanges positions in relation to other brigades. So, if the 2nd Bde was positioned between 1st (on its left) and 3rd (on its right) and wanted to move to to be between 3rd and say 4th Bdes then it would need ‘Redeploy’ but if it maintains its position in relation to friendly Bdes then no redeploy would be required. I hope that helps
1:34:00. If columns fire a weak volley they lose Fire Discipline if the roll a 1. If columns are advancing it’s usually best NOT to risk a shot as they will stall. Just one reason the sometimes removed the flints from troops tasked with assaulting 😄
Really like your channel! Great stuff. If I may be so bold may I offer some tactical advice? Always consider keeping a reserve for each brigade off table (obviously this is contingent on tbe quality of the Bde Commander). Why? 1. It lessens the 3C strain. If you have 5 Brigades but keep one or two off table in reserve you still get to roll for all your ADCs but don’t risk having Bdes going hesitant and can use your available ADCs to do some of the more sexy stuff. Less hesitant Bdes = better chance of gaining the initiative and thus dictating the battle and getting the first shots in. 2. Consider keeping the Cavarly off table (in reserve) for as long as possible. Until there’s an opportunity to exploit they tend to just sit around getting shot or going hesitant. They make a great reserve to either rush to stem a breakthrough or exploit one. Also, with less troops on table you are free to manoeuvre more. Maintaining a reserve that’s fresh is essential in GdA2 as it was in reality 😃👍 3. Supports. Keep them separated by just over 3 inches until you think the enemy might be in charge range when in defence to lessen the possibility of bounce through casualties. Those hits can pile up 🤨😃
That is awesome advice. I have a hard time not putting them all on the table to stare at. Thanks again for all the help, Scott! Have a fantastic rest of your weekend 👍
1:42:55. The French should roll 4 d6 due to Unformed and 3 Casualties (1:43:20 shooting from the Scots) in the charge and take the lower 2 and not be able to reroll 1s. The French column would probably be at a significant disadvantage 😀
Breathtaking! If I may ask how do you do bases? What are the dimensions of one square with four soldiers? I mean you play multiple systems right but is basing somehow normalized across different game systems and not each system having different requirements? I bought some line infantry and have no idea what I am doing (:
Hey David! Hope all is well. For Napoleonics I use 40x40mm bases for infantry and place for 4 soldiers on each. For napoleonic cavalry I use 50mm x 50mm for 2 horses. Artillery I just changed and use 100mm x 100mm for 2 guns
For most of my single base removal systems I use 25mmx25mm square for infantry and 25mmx50mm rectangle for cavalry. They might not be the best bases but I use Proxie models. They are available on Amazon and are very convenient
@@basement1908 yeah,.. For infantry, only attacking columns gain Élan, unless the Attacker is either a Linear Army or British/Portuguese, when only Lines gain Élan.
I have thought about that myself and I totally agree with you. If Napoleon could have won at waterloo, he would of snatched up a bunch of reinforcements.
1:48:47 given the Brit 40th are attacking and losing the charge by 2 on the -2 column of the Charge table the 40th get a ‘halt unformed and volley’. I suspect you looked at the +2 result and transferred that result to the Italians. The charge results table is always read from the ATTACKERS perspective. Fear not,.. I and 100s of other have made the same mistake 🤪 Glory does not give a reroll in the charge. Glory only elevates troops in Discipline Tests 😃

Not in a long time, and I am very upset about that. I even tried stacking the deck in his favor for that battle. The dice gods suck sometimes!
